That is exactly what I thought, right through this video. Current generation rally cars are fast, but they don't have the same appeal as a rear wheel drive car, skating on the ragged edge.....
@@russcattell955i I'm not sure it was a 240RS, think it was a Bluebird, might be wrong, but it looked like it, the RS had mahusive arches. And no you definitely can't beat the sound of an Escort going through a forest, it's awesome!
Excellent video, great location, well done. So good to see Mr Bean in his Mk1 Cortina, brought back so many personal memories, and not a sequential gearbox amongst them!! 🤣
Nick Cahill Thank you appreciate that. Don’t see it so much as work, I enjoy filming and putting it together and if others like it then it’s a bonus. Cheers
You picked your spots well...great sequence of corners. Marty glides the car from one corner to the next so smoothly, carrying great speed. There's a reason he's won it 3 times!
I’m sure there is a ghostly Mk 2 Escort lost in the vast expanse of Kielder forest that can never make it to the end of the stage and is doomed to drive around forever. On a dark night, you can see the distant glow of its Cibie driving lights and hear its twin Webbers sucking in the cold night air and the bellow from its big bore exhaust.
You know it was the Roger clark Rally right, and you know what he was famous for driving, going to be lots of Escorts mainly for that reason ;) But it was nice to see some of the other cars there to be fair
Thanks for this great bit of film, loved the sound and the sideways action. Was that a genuine ex Russell Brooke’s manta 400 or a replica build? Nice to see it being used properly either way !
