I was at this race and the rain at the end was crazy. So glad that Steve Johnson and Paul won the race, they ran a great race.

A great win for the Mighty AU falcon. This Win was one of the greatest race wins of the AU Falcon XR8. Gave Ford some dignity in the early 2000s

A race from 2001, finally. *Remembering how the 2000 QLD 500 was trimmed down* And I wonder if this win is still controversial today for the fans. Also, the thumbnail looks great.

The race ending to me is still controversial, the Perkins Engineering crew thought that victory was theirs but the umpires at Race Control had to pull back one or two laps prior to the red flag and declare the official results.

@@F1Kamel_1992 Race results are declared based on the last completed green flag lap prior to the red flag being called. So as in this instance the red flag was called prior to the perkins car completing another green flag lap and therefore the results back dated.

@@jmoz3213 yep the rule is a legit rule, but I do think they could waited 5 or 6 more seconds before waving it.

I really think that this race should have ended with the person who managed to cross the finish line first, despite the conditions, having won it. Weather is part of racing and if you manage weather, you should win. Red flag going to the lap before is sometimes a sad way to do things. Like its one thing if the leader got taken out by a lapped car or something, but if they took themselves out by not driving to conditions….

Would've loved for the race to run to the finish. I definately feel Ingall and Perkins should've won the race when they decided to end it with a red flag.
