I have been racing for 30 years everything from karts to formula cars. Won many championships over the years. Not the point for this post I just wanted to put some weight behind my opinion. I don’t care what they say the tires is not the reason that your winning. You are one the very few smart ones that is going for the optimal power to weight ratio as opposed to the “aero and slicks route” and taking the the crazy weight penalties that go with it. And it also looks like your a patient driver and not driving into each corner like it’s your last, like I see some of these guys doing. Being patient and not showing your nose just because you are quicker for that 50 foot stretch of track is the way to do it! I will be joining you next season once the borders open with my K24 EK civic. FYI with the same build philosophy which I think is the right way to do it. Cheers from Ontario Canada! That does seem pretty targeted to have a rule change like that mid series. Obviously it means you're doing well out there. I know you will, but continue to adapt and survive! Keep on the track you're on and you'll continue to do well in GLTC. Keep up the momentum!!!

Shhhh, don’t tell them his secret. Then they’re going to outlaw having a detuned motor with a flat torque curve. I saw the same thing you did. That BMW had the same speed in the straight, but it was obvious when he shifted. That opened the gate for the pass.

This proves that big cars with big engines are still dominant, no matter how much they try to make racing fair lol. The transmissions used in the Corvettes have unusually long gears from the factory

I haven't seen Jeremy post up his comp weight sheet, but he has to be taking the 'monster bore' 3% penalty, and a 3%-5% flat tq. curve penalty. The PDK penalty was only 2% last I checked.. so the PDK car with the smaller motor should be faster. Listening to Jeremy's motor, it's in the mid-high 2000RPM range exiting some slower corners. I really doubt that motor is making comp power until ~3500 rpm... but I wouldn't mind seeing the dyno sheet. Anyway, a C5 with a smaller motor and a DCT keeping the power right up in the powerband would be faster in this ruleset (it'd be allowed ~3% more power/weight or be about 90lb lighter than Jeremy's current car with the same power). You'd have the added bonus of removing weight off the front end too. That all said, the C5 is the most aerodynamic car on the grid, combine that with it being heavier (and being allowed more power) than the other front-runners on grid, and having the same high corner speeds as the S2K and Miatas, and you have something that will get out of the corners just as good as the competition, and then just drive by them on the straights. I'd love to see James Houghton test the TSX against Jeremy's Vette. That'd be an interesting battle- But I think the vette will be more likely to conserve its tires to the end. The GLTC rules are good and simple, and encourage fun builds, but with the current 12.5:1 lb/hp target no matter the starting weight of the car, or aerodynamic properties, the heavier, and sleeker your car is, the more of an advantage you'll have. The obvious target is 3302 lb, just enough weight to run the largest tire size (if you can find 'em), while having as much power as anyone on grid is likely to have. 3302/12.5 is 264 HP. It should be pretty obvious who's more likely to win between a 264 hp 'Vette, and a 2000 lb Miata wiith 160 HP. Eh? That Vette is going to go by on the straights as if it had a 100hp advantage...because it does. Of course, you can't get A052 in 335, so Jeremy was probably running ~3100 lb, 315 tires, and ~240 HP. Random thought Eric: nobody's running an AWD car yet in this series, are they? It's a good series to run one in, as the weight penalty of the AWD system is not a hindrance here, and the extra drivetrain loss doesn't matter either. It'd be all but guaranteed to win in the wet races as well. Kay. there's all my GLTC thoughts.

@@colinbowman8816 Yeah, I agree. I was also wondering why no one competes eith AWD. It would definitely advantageous at tracks like Mid-Ohio, especially in the rain. A 2002-2005 WRX would be perfect for such a scenario as well don't you think? In stock form, the power to weight is already quite close, only issue would be the 5speed, and that it's open diff but using LGT or PPG 1-5th gears and Cusco diffs would solve that issue

Every pass had to be earned in Race 3, great to watch! Close battles but fair. btw got a bit of a lost video file between 16:40 and 18:40, not sure if you were giving a briefing after the race. Also how dare Andy scratch your bumper xD "We were 30 lbs over weight"... if only it was just 30 lbs for me... haha Congrats on the win! The tire situation is definitely a bit strange. Mid-season rule changes this severe are pretty rough. On the other hand, were there other cars on Yokos and such, that provided data? We'll see how it goes. Having more competitive options other than Hohos definitely seems like a good thing and not a bad thing. Looking forward to your feedback on the CR-1s. Tried both their NS-2Rs and AR-1s for DEs and was pleasantly surprised. Stiff sidewall, low wear, decent speed. They were fairly heavy though and do definitely not run wide like other tires like the Falken 660s. Good luck at Autobahn! I'm licking my wounds from Gingerman, so will hopefully see y'all again at Mid O. Keep it up, love ya!

Nice driving. I have never seen anyone do a lap of Gingerman without changing gear before. That vet has long legs.

I think it's quite unfortunate that the rules changed mid-season but I also understand that GLTC is still fairly new and there'll be changes as situations arise

Every win was earned, within the rules. The more I’ve thought about the rule change the more disappointed I am in this series. You’re not the one who had won 4 in a row. In Jabaay’s own words, you built a better mouse trap. The series was still competitive. Despite how race 1 ultimately ended, you battled for p1 at the end of the race. Those tires fall off. Keep your head up and keep up the hard work!

Yeah, that was one hell of an event. It was amazing to see you and Andy battle your way back into the top 10 by race 3 from all the way at the back. That's some impressive driving and that car is a beast

Coolshirts are must have Agree 1000% Don't get discouraged by the rule change. You been in the great tire debates most of your racing exploits, and every series has changed their tire rules as people looked for the holes. Sometimes ya get it right with tires other times it can feel like a kick in the gut. With the experiences you have, Id say it might not hurt to always have backup tire/suspension package when testing and racing for times like these, just to kill the debate. Its more work and money to do that, but I have a feeling in your mind at least then you know you can prove its not just the tires.

Don't be afraid to criticize and write letters to the organizing bodies. This is likely how someone got the rules changed in the first place. One of the biggest problems in amateur motorsport is ever changing rulesets, and unfortunately those that are losing are usually the ones giving all the input.

Is an A052 Really faster than the other top super 200 tires? I predict this will be a cat and mouse game where each 200tw tire that shows some speed is put in the same category as the slick tires.
