This is Part II of II covering conduit (raceway) fill. This video focuses on examples and calculations, whereas Part I covered the Code requirements.
There is a mistake in the last example. The total area of four 10 AWG THHN conductors is 0.0211*4=0.0844 in^2. The allowable space of a trade size 1 EMT is 0.346 in^2. The remaining allowable space of the raceway is 0.346-0.0844=0.2616 in^2. Therefore 0.2616/0.0133=19,66. Therefore 19 12 AWG THHN conductors can be added.

What a way to spend a rainy Sunday back-to-back Ryan Jackson videos. Thanks for focusing on tables there are so many I'm trying to get my head wrapped around! The number one on my agenda is" informational annex 1 recommended tightening torque tables from UL standard 486A-486B" the reason being I was doing an exam for one of the bordering states for their license. There was a question asking about a torque setting that could be found in this chart, didn't even know this table existed. So I have no idea how to navigate it. Did a bit of research on this chart but couldn't find any information to help me understand it. Hoping maybe you can find some time to do a video on this and dissect it for us all. I'm guessing we're gonna see more questions from this table in exams to come. Thanks

the ones without the outer covering are newer than the ones with the cover, so the * is the newer table, just like the compact cable

All right Mr Jackson How about a year end video (or maybe the beginning of a new year one!!) 705.12 is perfect for a deep drive......... Hope this finds you well, hopefully we'll get to see more videos in 20024.

Thanks for the info great videos. Is there a code article for using BX on plastic boxes? I am aware that some boxes say in the inside NM cable only.

Thank you Ryan. Is there any requirements for fiber optic cable?

In the calculation, do we need to apply Table 310.15(C)(1)? How?

Thank you so much for all you do! I have a question. if we are running a smaller ground conductor with other larger conductors, why can't we still use Annex C, and base it on the larger conductor and swap the smaller ground conductor for one of the larger conductor. for example based on Annex C, 3" EMT we can run eleven 4/0 conductors, but if we pull ten 4/0 conductors and a smaller ground wire, we are still in compliance, right?
@RyanJacksonElectrical

I do that all the time. It will still comply and will make the installation of the conductors easier. Annex C is a great tool, I just have to tell people not to use it when taking a test unless you meet all the parameters.

Ryan thanks for the video. Can you help explain why using a smaller equipment grounding conductor than the circuit conductors would be a reason not to use Annex C? To make life easier, you still could still use Annex C if you ignored the smaller EGC and pretended it's the larger circuit conductor size. No calculations needed if you use this method. Edit: Never mind, you cover this concept towards the end of the video

I show an example in the video of why I would do just that.

This is a section of code that really irritates me at least for branch circuits. Don't get me wrong it's necessary for calculating the size pipe you need for large conductors and special cases like isolated grounds. However, after you have applied corrections for ampacity the actual practical limit is 9 current carrying conductors (#10's on a 20A circuits) anything more and the step up in wire size becomes impractical, who's going to pull #8 (THHN) for a 20A circuit? Plus you then have to upsize the conduit from 3/4 min. to 1-1/4 for up to 16 or 1-1/2 to 20 the pipe can handle 22 correction step up is at 20. I can't say you'll never do any of this, but seriously this section is mostly navel-gazing at best and leads to bad installs that could end up in dangerous situations and worst.
