Anyone who makes it to 2021 without being scathed by fire, virus, flood, drought, hurricane, tornado, violence of protest, loneliness, depression, debt, homelessness etc will indeed be doing very well and blessed.
BrianaLoveW I subscribed to your channel. I am a creator of content too. I filmed 10 days in Atl with the George Floyd riots/protests. I wish I could be in Kentucky filming.😔 My heart is broken for many reasons.
I've had that exact same thought a few months back, and yet, I've been very depressed again lately. But I want to 'thank you' for this 'reminder,' because it made me feel Grateful, and so very much "blessed" again.. ❤️ 🙏
That's exactly how our home burned down. Our middle daughter woke my husband and I up yelling theres smoke all over. She was only around 7. We got all our 3 daughters out quickly. It went up so fast. It was a super cold night so I just wrapped the girls with blankets. I can feel for you because we lost everything. Photos all our girls and family heirloom quilts from my great grandmother. Little things like that that meant a lot to us. The Lord was so gracious to us that we all got out in time.
Hope your kids are ok mentally. When I was 11 a neighbors house was on fire, and I awoke to smelling alot of smoke. I thought it was our house even though I didn't hear the smoke alarms going off. I was scared when hearing fire engines for about 2 years, until I got better. I couldn't even handle fire engines in fictional TV shows. It turned out to be a bunch of houses away, and an elderly couple who died in the fire. Cause was something to do with a frayed electric organ cord. 1 body was found by the bedroom door, the other was still in the bed. I can recall all this despite it happening in 1984! The trauma from actually getting out of your own house burning, and the aftermath, would def be greater than what I got.
I’m glad u an your family are safe. But your a MILLIONAIRE AND YOUR INS WILL COMPENSATE YOU. Your safe. Hopefully your pets are ok. But your rich. You won’t suffer for long. But alot of us don’t have what u have. Your going to be fine. You will be back on tv .
g johnson I’m tired of hearing of the woes of the rich. What about all the others who have lost everything? Where’s there stories????? RR is filthy rich, and I don’t give a shit about her house. I’m sure she’s hot 2 or 3 more. So u can stop with the “how could I say that”.....
Instead of the insurance paying for your property why don’t you sue the state because it is a states fault that your house burned down what I don’t understand is why do people build houses when they know that the fire is to be around to me it doesn’t make sense but then I’m not a millionaire and I don’t have that option but you do
Unfortunately I know exactly how this feels. My house burned to the ground about 3 years ago and my whole family was inside. There was no time to grab our dogs or shoes or anything because we were minutes away from death all of us.Luckily we all made it out alive(even our dogs). There was nothing salvageable from the house. All of our belongings and possessions were gone. But 3 years later and I’ve never been better. My life is beautiful now. Things like this only make you stronger💖
A fire has to be one of the most devastating thing anyone can go through outside of loosing a child. Last winter a friend of ours not too many miles from Rachels house woke up in the middle of the night to find her home engulfed in flames ,had to crawl on her hands to get out in her nightgown without her cellphone or car keys, being winter and having no neighbors nearby she sat in her vehicle and had to watch her home and everything she owned burn to the ground. She's regrouped but it sure shakes the hell out you.
John Harris wow that’s crazy. Ours was also late at night and we have a very large family so the chances were high that everyone had there phones. Im so grateful that everyone in my family made it out alive. Maybe not in the greatest health condition and we still suffer from smoke inhalation and I actually developed asthma from that night but we are all alive and that’s the most important thing
I hope it never happens to you. if I could recommend one thing it would be to have multiple fire extinguishers in a home. Of course that would not have helped in this case. Just know that it will be around 20 to 30 minutes before one drop of water is put on the home and as seen in these photos, what fire doesn't destroy the water will.
My home burned in January. I lived there 24 years, raised my children there. I loved that house. I woke up early one morning. I didn't even smell anything til I sat up in bed. I realized the house was on fire and grabbed my son, we got the dogs, but couldn't get our cats or other pets. My heart is broken. The day they tore the house down I felt like everything I worked for was gone. I was in such shock! Thank God we got out. Due to the pandemic, materials are sky high. My insurance will pay for alot of it, but I'm praying God gives me the rest. The build will begin in August. I never thought this would happen to me. Please keep a smoke detector in every room and have a few extinguishers up and down stairs. Fires spread extremely fast. Just get out! Please say some prayers for us. Ty so much. I didn't even know Rachel Ray's home burned. Thank the Lord they got out.
The build up of creosote wont happen when the updraft is hot like 250 deg. to keep a wood burner chimney clean have natural gas in the wood burning fireplace to increase the temp. Just turn gas on to get logs started and now and then to burn off build up.
And also: thank YOU for all the brave work you and your team does while endangering your own lives. So grateful. Sending you positive vibes from the Netherlands.
Chimney cleaned twice a year and this happened? Sounds like they weren't really cleaning it. When you rebuild, put on a steel roof and get a gas fire place. Sorry this happened to you.
Loser Rays showed their uneducated resistance to following the fire departments prevention, and go back in to save property! You losers are not leaders! The NFPA and Fire Service spend countless hours to educate people, sleep with doors closed, crawl, get out, close doors, call the FD from a meeting point outside! You proved your poor decision making and poor judgement!
It's crazy cause since i was little, I always waited for and was curious as to what cool stuff 2020 would bring.. What a letdown 😔 sign of the times though.. Better things will come after the storm though 🙏🏽
It doesn’t even matter that she’s “rich and could buy 5 other houses if she wanted to” or whatever, this is so devastating. All her memories and material memorabilia :(
There is no worse feeling than watchin ur hours burn. Our garage caught fire in 2010. We lost all kinds of family items that we can’t get back. I lost my show car and numerous times I got when my grandma died.
Their attitude, and spirits are so graceful considering they've lost everything including their home. Life is so precious and they are greatful and it shows. Thank God they are safe.
Some people are going to say "they have money who cares" but what you don't realize is the things money can't replace. I lost everything in a house fire and had insurance, but I'll always mourn the loss of everything sentiment and can never be replaced! My heart goes out to you and your husband. 💔 I'm so sorry for your loss
I know it might not be the same thing but I have scanned important documents and pics and saved them digitally. I have also placed the originals in a fireproof envelope which I got from Amazon. I'm a minimalist so I don't have a lot of stuff that I would grieve for if it was lost. I have an emergency bag by the door in case of fire or earthquake and have all my jewelry and important documents in one box which I can grab quickly on my way out.
@@V.E.R.O. Very smart planning. May I suggest fire drills too. In 1977 I knew all the right things to do, was well prepared -- I thought -- but when I woke up to the smell of smoke and saw smoke coming from the apartment below mine I went into that apartment looking for other people -- with my baby in my arms! I lost all commonsense in the moment of shock and panic. When I got outside a firefighter said the person downstairs had told them no one was home upstairs so they hadn't bothered to look in my apt.
Hi Rachel we are so glad you are fine and well we heard about this and we were picking up groceries for the summer cooking camp and you still did the camp amazing my girls look up to you thanks for being amazing
I feel for you girl! My house burned down when I was 6 months pregnant.....just after I finished my sons nursery. He is 5 yrs old now but I still freak around fire. My heart goes out to you...good luck💓
Here is what gets me. These wealthy people build these BIG expensive homes and yet they won't spend another 25 grand to have a sprinkler system put in.
A big “thank you” to the neighbor who alerted you. I live in Oklahoma and we have tornado shelters, maybe someone could build affordable fireproof shelter rooms? So sorry for your loss, thankfully your all safe, that’s what really matters.
Thank God for His mercy and grace..His love which sent her neighbor to yell out FIRE so they had time to know and leave..not everyone receives that..God bless Her and her Husband and family and her awesome neighbor for his quick thinking..ALL GLORY TO GOD!!!!!!
Your heart is breaking for her..what about those who aren't super rich with multiple homes. The poor n homeless..get real..you're a celebrity worshiper!
james wells who says my heart isnt breaking for them as well? I wasn’t watching their video I was watching hers. This has nothing to do with being a celebrity, it has to do with stating facts. Have some sympathy and compassion man. I don’t care if she had 20 homes and 100 million dollars. Some things aren’t worth a price tag SMH 🤦🏻♀️
I remember watching your show 19 years ago. I remember when you got married in Italy and flew all your friends and family out there to be with you. I’m heartbroken at your loss. However your attitude is so spot on! You will comeback from this stronger than ever. You and John will be forever changed by this. God bless you both. Prayers and so much love coming your way.
@@jjjjjj192 if this happened to you and someone in a worse condition mocked your pain based any of your privileges (that they themselves may not have), do you think that would be kind? Its petty.
@@jjjjjj192 all the loss family pictures, family treasures, her mother's ring that she was going upstairs for when the fire broke out but then instead decided not to, all her writings and kept journals are non replaceable. These are the things that money can't buy no matter how much money you have. Usually the things that money can't buy are the ones that are most important and well cherish. And those are the first thing that people have in mind to grab when in a fire related situation, not their $1000 shoes or purse. Yes, they're rich but that isn't point here.
Having been through a devastating home fire myself, I watched this with tears running down my face. Our fire happened in 1977 and there are still moments when I think about something we lost and it brings such sadness. We lost photos and 2 pets in that fire. My heart goes out to you Rachael. There are things that can NEVER be replaced.
My grandparents had a housewife in 93 and too this day I still remember being this little 2 yr old girl bawling because of the way the house looked. It traumatized me. And to the day they sold the house a few years back she'd smell the smell of smoke from the fire.
This year has been a reset for many many people in so many different ways. Hoping you and John will do this in a most amazing way drawing upon your many talents and resources and be thankful for all the people who care about you and appreciate your work. There's so much to be done in a new creative way. Isn't it exciting?!
I know what you mean about “the waves”. It’s a grieving process and considering all that you lost I’m surprised you both are even holding up this well. If you weren’t so loved all over the world it could be even harder than it is for you to process it. You’ll find a way to come back even better and stronger than before. Sharing the loss with us took great courage and a fierce determination to move forward.
With over 2000 comments you will likely never see this but here goes anyway....If you had your chimney cleaned twice a year someone ripped you off bad. Either the chimney sweeps that were supposed to do the work or whoever cut your wood. If you burn "green" (unseasoned wood) or pitchy pine it will build up creasote at an incredibly high rate. Also the slower it burns the more buildup there will be. A good hot ripping fire will burn it out but you should hose the roof if you do that because there is always a risk of fire. You may be lucky that you didn't die of carbon monoxide poisoning though, because a plugged chimney can cause the gasses to backdraft into your house, you would never know it unless you were awake and had recognition of the symptoms. I am so sorry this happened to you. I had my home burn to the ground in 2006. I was lucky to find brittle keys in the ash and have them carefully copied before they broke. I also lost 5 kittens. I know the pain and I am so sorry. Hopefully you had insurance. It so happened that year I didn't. I had my dogs outside and the clothes I was wearing and just needed to not look back and be thankful for what I did have. Don't look back. Its painful.
@just me THANK YOU for sharing your story and your hard earned wisdom. I'm SO moved by your story. Words fall short. My heart goes out to you - what a profound loss. I hope that you are in a good place now, in every way. Wish I could offer more encouragement for what you've endured. Stay strong and be well. HUGGGGGGGS to your dogs.
@@gardenboots7464 Thank you. I have all different dogs now, 4 of them. Some ferral cats that kind of live in my garage. Through the years I have found myself doing things like keeping packs with clothes in them in my rig and out in the shop, keeping an excess of different things for shelter, storing food in different places. Some really odd behaviors according to other people. A strange version of "never put all of your eggs in the same basket" I guess. I just accept it about myself no matter what anyone thinks. I don't owe them an explanation. I do think people kind of shy away from me sometimes though, for instance if they happen to notice that out in the shop there is everything you would find on a bathroom shelf on the workbench. Toothbrush and all. I have to laugh even though I don't keep friends well because of it. Only the ones that knew me before.I live out of town, my dogs are large and I have a horse. I can't just leave my animals if anything like that ever happens again. I lived in a 10x10 cabin last time for 6 months until I got a park model RV, because I had to stay with my animals then as well. 2 years later I lost my dad and moved in with my mom to take care of her til she passed. I still live in the family home since then. Life has certainly been a journey. We will see what comes next. My dogs love hugs. Thank you much.
When you have to throw some thing out or things lost in a fire or flood, you realize how materialistic most things are because they can be replaced. Sentimental items are really the only loss. (Not counting humans or pets) It is very stressful and emotional. I'm deeply sorry you lost your home and very thankfully your are ok because what would I do without your yummy cooking. Love, hugs and prayers for strength to you and your husband.
Thank God for your neighbor letting you know your roof was on fire, otherwise you may not have gotten out on time or could have been seriously hurt. 💕🙏
My home just burned Sep 10th, the devastation, the things that goes through your mind while watching your home burn hurts like hell. Looking at your children watching you with fear in their eyes💔 😔
@@deed3259 Thank you, we all made it out alive!! The unit was upstairs in my children room, they lost everything 😔. Charities and foundations turned us away. Its been a week still no help, what i have learned is to not donate to any foundations or charities ever again.
@@INSTAGRAMCLIPSDAILYGogetem I'm SO sorry that you're being turned away by charities and foundations. Please DO NOT GIVE UP! Thank you for sharing your story. SENDING LOVE and prayers for beautiful restoration and provision.
My heart goes out to you and John, it is heartbreaking to lose your prize possessions in a fire. It is courageous of you to talk about it and let us into what is left of your beautiful house. Thank you for sharing, hang in there.
My heart completely aches for the suffering you and your family have been through. You have been such a light and a source of happiness for so many throughout the years. I pray that the goodness and inspiration that you’ve shared comes back to you ten-fold. Sending you much love...
Mortgage insurance will replace everything aside from obvious sentimental things that can’t be. They even cover housing until your home is rebuilt. Poor or not you are not left with nothing.
Anna Wixom wanna know how long it takes to get insurance money? How easy it is for companies to weasel out of paying out? Do you know how hard it is for people living paycheck to paycheck, to buy just the necessities to make it through the night? Think shampoo, underwear, hair brush, tooth paste/brush, laundry detergent, washing facilities, hotel costs if you don’t just sleep in your car, etc etc? For a family of 2+, you’re talking about hundreds of dollars just to make it through the first few days.
R M In events such as this they immediately set you up in a hotel and give you additional living expense protection stipend to purchase clothing etc. I work in insurance and I am well aware how it works. They cover a rental until rebuilding is completed as well. I am just saying rich or not the process is the same. It’s not like because you’re poor you are on the street.
2020 has been a rough year. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I lost my home in the March tornado that devastated my town. God saved my life that day! So happy you guys were safe along with your pets! 💕🙏
In Chinese superstition, the year of mice is always followed by some form of disaster, wether it's pandemic, financial crisis, natural disasters and so on... It was true for 2008 and still true for 2020. Everyone please keep yourself safe and avoid bad fengshui as much as possible.
God is good. Those who go through the violent storms of life are blessed because they witnessed a miracle of the Most High. Truly He loves you!!! I'm so glad you are okay! Hopefully we will all meet Jesus in the clouds soon!!!
@@qiaowang7147 be careful with all of that stuff. That's a doctrine of demons. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is your saviour and Lord and repent, you will be saved from eternal death. That also entails not having to be afraid of anything. Jesus died so that we can be children of the Most High God Yahweh. You can have a real relationship with God because of what Jesus did and his people do miracles and witness miracles all the time. The Jewish people might bring in their Messiah this year. Do not follow that man because he's the antichrist who has come to decieve the entire world and demand worship. Israel didn't realize Jesus was all over their old testament and fufilled so much of prophecy already. Jesus is coming soon and he's going to bring his believers and the children and the dead who believed in him into the clouds and then the wrath of God will be poured out. If you believe and are filled with the Holy Spirit you don't have to go through what's written in the latter portions of the Book of Revelation. I hope I see you in the clouds! We're told to be aware that it could happen any time so don't wait if you want to accept Jesus!
Oh Rachael, I am so very sorry for the loss of your beautiful home ! I couldn't even imagine how your handling this ! My sister had a house fire the week before.Christmas in 1996. It was a very traumatic event short term, medium term, long term. The only things that survives were my sister's wedding ring, my niece's baby blanket, and the Bible was fully intact on the floor of the most charred room. God bless. Message received. Best wishes rebuilding! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
So glad you are all safe! I can't imagine the devastation and loss but your attitudes in the midst of this storm are an encouragement to so many. I hope they are able to restore and recover your memorabilia and sentimental belongings.

This is beyond heartbreaking. Loss is loss. Its such a raw human emotion. There isn't enough money in the world to save you from this. Bless you both ♥️
There are differences in loss. Having the fire inspector at your home the next day & being able to rebuild a beautiful home, etc definitely reduces the suffering.
Sharon here: I had originally heard just a wing of the house had burned. The devastation is total, and it sorrows me to see all that is gone. Wishing you comfort and strength as you rebuild your beloved home.
I try to ensure I keep a list of my important things I own (books, furniture basically) on a cloud, hard drive. I also have a plan for what to grab near by if I'm at home as I've had a situation when a fire alarm goes off and smoke is smelled in an apartment building I lived in.
I honestly would've thought Rachel would've done that. Kinda surprised me she never scanned anything. Geez, it's crazy to think that something like this kicks u in butt and u realize what material things really are important to u once their gone. Pics, art, music, these things are material objects but they have so much meaning to most people. SCAN EVERYTHING!!
Racheal, I was saddened to hear that your house had caught fire and now my heart breaks for you even more after seeing this. What a great thing you have done by sharing this with so many. I don't let in the insurance company or even "friends" before I've reviewed everything. Too many careless people. I have saved many items that others wanted to throw away. Lost books and photos too, but was able to save many as well. Learned techniques over time although is tedious.
I have lived in a mobile home for 15 years and I don't even light a candle in the house...I'm that afraid of fire. Thank God they and their dog got out in time.
