Hi Mrs. Derstine, I'm wanting to print onto the silk sheets just like you have done. I know I must use the pigment-based inks, but could you tell me what printer you used, please? I'm just starting out so I can't afford a huge large format printer. Do you use cartridges or an EcoTank? I am a silk painter, but I do not have enough patience we for quilting, lol! Your art is beautiful and I hope you did really well selling your pieces. Please allow me to give you a suggestion regarding a different way of displaying your art. If I were to make one of your quilted silk pieces I would use an acrylic varnish to adhere the quilted silk piece to a canvas that was a little larger than would be used for that size. Once the piece is on the canvas and it is securely adhered to it, I would maybe add some finishing touches then sign my name half on the canvas, half on the quilted piece. Once dried it can be hung as wall art or put on a decorative easel to be displayed off floor or tabletop. One of the cool things about displaying this type of art as I've described is that you can run your fingers/hands across the canvas - from left side to right side or top to bottom and feel the textures of it all! 🙂 🙃 🙂
Thanks so much for all you suggestions! I do mount some of my pieces on canvas and like that look. I have used just an inexpensive Epson XP440 printer. The later editions might be different numbers. I just buy my ink cartridges at Staples and recycle with them as well. They give you credits if you recycle. Good luck with your art!
