Wow! What a good teacher! And instantly, the student's playing became so much more in the baroque style.

Not just an excellent violinist, but an engaging and thoughtful teacher! I heard a definite improvement in the student's playing in these six minutes.

@@kin3tic0n37 Rachel went on to stress the harmony coming out, being the key thing that drives the music, thats why I thought Rachel's comment of the "student's" lyrical style had another meaning. Now i see its a suggestion to her already fantastic interpretation, and the student can definitely learn/adapt in the class. It was a little point which I thought funny at the time..

Faces depict the musicality which you hear but are unable to convey.

The student plays amazing but damn her violin isn't living up to her standards. Her e string is ... least to say painful to hear. She really needs a violin upgrade.

That is the way Bach should be played. Not like these powerful Heifetz or Milstein performances.

They think they play in "authentic" baroque way, but it sounds quite horrible, boring soul-less and metallic (very bad violin sound) - like a small child. I am afraid that this "authentic" way of playing is only modern invention and speculation. How they really played at those times - nobody can know. And I am sure they would be happy to be able to use better sounding modern instruments and play in better way too ... It sounds like a Terminator- prototype is playing Chaconne.

Odd you can say that when the emphasis here is all on musicianship and harmony rather than smashing it out. I guess you are used to it with more power and less nuanced? Also, you say "metallic sound" but the gut string is so much warmer/resonant and the metal ones so much more shrill, especially the E. Everyone played on gut till the last 50 years or so. Also musicians used to dance...
