And to think that now, centuries later, in one the world's biggest media franchises, one of the main characters in it is named after his beautiful poem and gives us this beautiful rendition of it. He must be looking on proud from wherever he is in the afterlife
I thought they couldn't get any better with The Hunger Games but the prequel was by far the best in the series, both book and movie. That scene by the lake truly hit hard on the heartstrings.
Lucy was foreshadowing her own fate through the montage of her, Coryo, and the covey at the lake scene. Rachel’s voice is true thing of beauty singing this poem.
[Verse 1] Oft I had heard of Lucy Gray And when I crossed the wild I chanced to see the break of day The solitary child [Verse 2] No mate, no comrade, Lucy knew She dwelt where none abide The sweetest thing that ever grew Upon the mountainside [Verse 3] You yet may spy the fawn at play The hare among the green But the sweet face of Lucy Gray Will never more be seen [Verse 4] "Tonight will be a stormy night You, to the town, must go And take a lantern, child, to light Your mother through the snow" [Verse 5] That, Father, will I gladly do 'Tis scarcеly afternoon The village clock has just struck two And yondеr is the moon [Verse 6] At this, the Father turned his hook To kindling for the day He plied his work and Lucy took The lantern on her way [Verse 7] As carefree as a mountain doe A fresh new path, she broke Her feet dispersed the powdery snow That rose up just like smoke
Lucy Gray= the girl lost in snow in a poem by William Wordsworth Baird= Poet, one who sings ballads. Baird is a masculine Scottish name derived from Bard, meaning “poet,” or “one who sings ballads.” Coriolanus= Victorious, or the victor. Thank goodness I'm so obsessed with finding the meaning of names.
#TheHungerGames: #TheBalladOfSongbirdsandSnakes was incredible & that is only because of the Beautiful, Talented, and all-around amazing Rachel Zegler because Rachel is an incredibly talented actress, singer & an even more amazing person; the world needs more people like Rachel.

When she said not me and got hit, I felt the pain of thousands of years of black oppression on screen. I swear this girl is the reincarnated form of Aretha franklin. Girl has a bright future ahead of her.
