The grace and smoothness in the hand movements is one of my favorite parts of watching Valentina play. Oh, and then there’s the insane technical abilities
Valentina Lisitsa has transcended perfection and technique. It's as if the music has chosen to come through her...and her alone...in it's purest form. She is the greatest classical pianist of all time.
nobody composes an elegy like Rachmaninoff and very few people can perform it like Ms. Lisitsa! I love the mood shifts within this relatively short piece - Arensky must have been some teacher!
Hi, Val. First of all, nice to see you again. Second, Maestro Pollini pasted away today and I would like to see your impressions about him. And third, what happened in Moscow is terrible and my heart is now there....send you big hugs, Val ❤
Hey Valentina, very beautiful music, it sounds sad and desperate and the the dark room and your dark hair, no wonder with what is happening in the world at the moment . I hope you're okay and send you big hugs 🎉❤🎹🎼🙋♀️✌️
That old commi sounds good. Talking about the piano, Red October. Wonderful playing. I agree with so many here: I could recognize Valentina just on the hands so gracefully and mysteriously perform in such perfection. God Bless!
I've been a classical pianist since I was 10 and am now 64 years old. I can honestly say I have never heard a pianist this briliiant in all my life. I'm absolutely blown away. And obsessed. Very much a new fan.
I love your comment below the video about the power of the music, but I heard another proverb "The words are stronger than the sword". Thank ypou for this share in music.
Валентина Евгеньевна. Как всегда шикарно играете, вдохновляете музыкой всех. У вас особая интерпретация, и это здорово! Вас приятно слушать. Спасибо вам!😊
Wonderful. I love this piece and she expressed all. Sadness, grief, the dreamy part of the memories, the rage for an injustice death and the final male outburst.
Wonderful performance. I started to practice the prelude in g-minor yesterday - your recording of it in Seoul was the first time I listened to it as a kid. A great composer.
Chuvas e enchentes no sul. Mais de cinco mil pessoas mortas. O mundo precisa de paz. Você é a minha favorita.
Red October piano, she plays it like a big old car that needs a very special driver. This experience reminded me of Tuxedomoon's old Crash video with the car; dramatic music, and sadness, despair, the most beautiful sounds we hear from time to time. Thank you.
Валентина, ты фантастическая пианистка. Большое тебе спасибо и да здравствует Победоносная Россия. Valentina you are a Fantastic Pianist Merci beaucoup et Vive la Russie Victorieuse
Val always makes my heart melt, she is so romantic and plays so beautiful. Thank you Val ~. I think that piano is due for a restoration to keep up with your swartzenegger fingers :-)
I love your music as always. Today, please allow me to share my condolences to the victims of the Crocus City massacre and their families with all the Russian people here. May every one be safe, vigilant and strong every day.
A bit of fantasy in E-flat minor dedicated to Anton Arensky, a harmony teacher of Rachmaninov. Said to chronicle his life from his youth in Russia, to his self-imposed exile in 1917 to California where he died in 1943. Op. 3 No. 1, of 5, I think. Sounds like a solid childhood but I don't know the story. Her back to us, face not visible, hair color dark, dress informal. A hoodie. It doesn't appear to have come from Walmart, but a hoodie nonetheless. We know her homeland before we find this performance. We know her stature as a pianist well before the war. Some may wonder the toll this tragedy takes on such an artist who, like composer, also found a home in America. Quite apart from the magic of piano and these two giants we confront tragedy shrouded in lies, half-truths, omissions, corruption and all of this from highest levels of the three governments orchestrating, YES ORCHESTRATING. We watch this beautiful performance and again wonder the toll, if any, this takes on this artist. Maybe she is as detached, indifferent, as propagandized and ill-informed as most of those in her second homeland, and even in her audience. These are fair questions but we are brought to bigger questions. What does integrity even mean today? Who are these people, these so-called leaders? What are any of these governments even worth with their flimsy narratives that have systematically discredited the efforts of Reagan and Gorbachev since 1987 and finally gotten us to where the only accurate death toll comes from satellite imagery but cannot count the refugees and homeless? What is truth? What are strength, an honest effort, integrity, humanity, beauty, life, love? Do these words even mean anything in 2024? Yes, these are also fair questions. More than fair, they need to be asked, shouted, by every human on the planet and then answered with the same heart, intelligence, care, performance, this pianist brings. This is art. And such artists are way too rare today.
