Yefim Bronfman delivers a stellar performance of the Rach 3 accompanied by the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and Lahav Shani. Recorded 12th September 2021.
Movements:
1. Allegro ma non tanto (00:32)
2. Intermezzo: Adagio (17:12)
3. Finale: Alla breve (27:48)
Stick around for the standing ovation and the encores: Chopin's Nocturne no. 8 (44:26) and a delightful quatre mains rendition of Brahms' Hungarian Dance no. 5 (51:26)

There are so many great versions of this great work available on RU-vid, it's an 'embarrassment of riches' for the Rach 3 nutter! I have to say, though, that Bronfman brings something extra to the work ... like he was MEANT to play it!

Same with his prok 2. I've never heard anyone kick out the mv.1 cadenza so unbelievablely full of what strikes me as rage. Transcendental shit indeed.

There’s a RU-vid clip of him as a rather dashing young man in a master class where the master (forgotten who it was) suggests he should try to stop pounding so much. Guess he didn’t like the advice. On an unrelated note, why is it that in every performance of this concerto I’ve watched there is a breakdown of ensemble at 41:15. Is it so hard for the conductor to find out in rehearsal how fast the pianist intends the accelerando to go?

Well, they also said that to a certain Sergei Prokofiev, maybe you've heard of him...

This is precisely the exact opposite of "pounding." You have a link to this masterclass?
