i havent been this compelled to do a video like this in a long time. we ride at dawn for the closure of kmbw.
just a btw, i have developped some sort of strain of strep throat/tonsilitis/black plague, so i might sound weird in this video btw.
also lately a lot of the video topics ive done have been more serious stuff, so if you guys want to see more lighthearted fun videos request some for me to do! and happy #blackhistorymonth !!!
see yall in the next one!!!!

Amiah Rose I’m so sorry. :( I am a white Kpop fan and honestly I don’t know how I would feel if people made RU-vid videos titled like “IDOLS WITH WHITE GIRLS” or something. It would make me feel so uncomfortable. It’s so sick that there is such an emphasis on race. It’s 2019, people. We’re all human regardless of the colour of our skin, bone structure, etc.. Obviously even Kpop idols are aware of this. It’s toxic fans who use race as a way to get views. What they don’t realize is how insulting and weird that is. I hope this will be put to an end soon, and again I am so sorry for you that you have experienced discomfort from this. :c

i’m a black girl and i dated a korean girl for three years and everyone just assumed it was because i like kpop and i wanted to have an “””unnie””” or whatever and i just full body cringe thinking about how that even came to peoples’ minds because they see a black person and an asian person in a rs and assume it’s because of a fetish. i’m more mad at the fact that that’s a real problem than i am that people thought i was contributing to it.

Yeah I can see like I'm Mexican American or whatever and like ever since I was small I found Asians attractive (I do find other races attractive tho) and like I didn't really now anything about Kpop and like now that Kpop is like all over the world now and everyone knows about it I feel weird saying I'm attractive to asians since people will say I only like them cause of Kpop when I only got into Kpop like last year so I just say I like my type of race so people won't say I only like "Asian men cause of Kpop"
@lilmeowmeowminsuga7084

Sade Logan I feel that same way like my grandma told me when we went to a wedding that she wants me to marry a "Mexican" guy so she can do this traditional wedding we do for people that are getting married (I don't really understand weddings at all) and like I do find them attracting like I said but sometimes I feel like forced to date someone who's our race because I feel like if I date someone who isn't our race my family would look at me in a weird way and I'll just feel weird (all of my family is Mexican or Mexican American my brother is the first one in our family to bring a American girl in our family and I really like her and my family likes her to even though it's hard for my uncle and aunts to communicate with her since she only speaks English but I just hope I can break the race barrier in my family cause i want our family tree to include other races)

Me too! I've been wanting to go to teach in a foreign country(my top choice is South Korea because I'm familiar with the culture and language) for almost four years now and I get super frustrated when people assume that I only want to go because I want a Korean husband or they think it's only a phase. I'm already studying for a bachelors in Teacher Education and I soon hope to get a TEFL certificate! IT'S NOT NOT A PHASE. I'm entirely serious about this and I wouldn't go to such lengths just to marry a Korean guy. Sure, I'm primarily attracted to Asian guys, I've always been, but it's only a racial preference. Honestly, I would like marry a Korean man but the personality of a person is what matters foremost. I'd rather marry someone with an amazing personality that treats me right over some random Korean dude just because he's Korean. Lmao sorry for the rant.

@sallyharrison3402
@sallyharrison3402 5 лет назад
Colorless Diamond there was a Muslim girl that attended a concert for a kpop boy group (I can’t remember the name of that group but I’m assuming they were pretty big). She was also ethnically black and there was a video that showed her interacting with some of the boys. Knowing that kmusicandblackwomen is a channel that feeds off black people interacting with Asians you know she would definitely put that in her videos. When she used it, the girl politely asked her to take it down. When kmusic refused she asked again. At this point kmusic called her names and starting saying things about Islam that were unacceptable. This doesn’t really matter but I think the girl was Somali or some kind of East African, she wasn’t wearing a hijab but you can tell by her name she was Muslim. Honestly the whole thing made me feel sick. To make a young girl feel that way because she didn’t want a fetishizing trash bag to use her in a video to perpetuate that black women need Asian men to validate their beauty is something else.

The worst thing is, this speaks to a much bigger issue. We’re raising black women in a society that teaches us we’re undesirable. The reason these channels are so big is because, for many black women, it’s a form of acceptance that we don’t get in real life. A form of appreciation we don’t see. We’re ridiculed for our hair, our looks, our bodies, the way we talk in what is mostly subtle ways, but it still builds up. We see it in dating app statistics too. And it leaves some with shame regarding their race. Like you mentioned, this channels know this, and take advantage of that for views. The whole thing is a truly upsetting. Our society is failing black women.

Kmusicandblackwomen needs to be stopped. She's just fetishizing Asian men which is not okay. I understand the appeal of seeing people who you don't normally see together being a couple especially when the cultures clash like Black and Asian. @The0nly_K ! I'm not copying anyone, she DOES fetishize asian men. How is having an entire channel dedicated to words how Korean guys act around women (of her race) not fetishizing? Treating asian men as if they're just some pawns for black women ain't okay. It's to the point where she gave another Korean (unknown) artist a shoutout JUST for saying he likes black women, how is that not creepy in any way? Saying I'm copying people for saying that she likes to fetishize asain men is like saying I'm copying people for saying the sky is blue.

You pretty much articulated what I was thinking really well in the video.
@poppagBallZ97
@poppagBallZ97 5 лет назад
I learned something today from you. I never knew that this was racial fetishization. I must be blind and stupid. I’m black too and I never really got rubbed the wrong way about this because first, I never knew the meaning or “true tea” behind this, so I just laughed about it. But now that I know truth, thanks to you, I am well aware now, and I’ll never let my finger touch any videos like those ever again, cuz no...That ain’t it. People exaggerate too much out of interracial couples (although interracial couples aren’t bad) and idols interacting with other ethnicities and races. You’re right, it needs to stop cuz it’s humilating the fans who are different races, especially black people and it’s also humiliating the idols out there as well. Like I know this is not couple wise, and I forgot whose instagram account it was. It was one of the blackpink member’s accounts, maybe Rosé or Jisoo...BUT ANYWAYS, it was a picture of blackpink and I think four or five black men in one of their concerts from their tour, and someone commented (I’ll just paraphrase it) that blackpink like n***as now, and that they’re into chocolate. Like c’mon. Stop blowing it out of proportion. First stop referring to black people as food, cuz they’re human. Second of all, don’t just plain out refer to them as n***as. It ain’t cute and I don’t even know if that person was black or not when they used that word. And lastly, don’t make it out like that. I’m not saying blackpink hate black people or other races cuz they don’t. But don’t just romanticize it. It’s just them with black men..Don’t make it a BIG deal, cuz it ain’t that big of a deal. Of course it’s nice to see your faves or anyone else in the world that you like with other people like you. However, it ain’t nice when it’s exagerrated. Like c’mon, WE’RE ALL HUMAN BEINGS! Just because you’re this or that, or are in a relationship with someone that different than you, doesn’t mean you should flaunt about it. Have some respect. 🤦‍♀️

I'm so glad to hear you speak about this, and slight sidenote but you always express your opinion so respectfully without being mean or condescending which is rare with these types of videos. Idk man, the emphasis of race or ethnicity in these titles just seems like they're not treating them as people but like tokens or something and that really doesn't sit well with me. I think there's a difference between celebrating diversity in relationships and just straight up reducing someone to their race purely to fetishize them

Sonnie ‘token’ is a great word to describe this, absolute tokenism for clickbait and maybe even in real life relationships...

The only one of those “Japanese boyfriend”/interracial couple genre that I watch is Rachel and Jun (like that’s the genre, not that it’s the only interracial couple I watch period). They were on RU-vid way before this trend started and it’s not a fetishizing thing, like they met because she got a full ride to college on the stipulation that she major/minor in Asian Studies and/or Japanese and study abroad in Japan, and that’s how they met (if you watch the story of how they met she explains it better). I like them because they give interesting details on cultural differences without fetishizing, and their relationship was not about one of them going to a specific country because they were obsessed with the culture.

I’m black, and I remember being younger and being a new Kpop fan you sometimes catch yourself on that edge of it being less of an interest and more fetishization. I used to have such a low self esteems and was so hungry to be validated that these videos made me feel better. Now I’m a bit older and knowing I was like this makes me feel so gross.

This video was definitely needed so thank you! I think it’d be cool to see a video on the reverse side of it as well. Like the sometimes overt appropriation and fetishization of black culture by kpop idols and rappers. I’m black+asian and I’ve always really liked kpop/rap but my own personal relationship with the genre as a person of color sometimes feels complicated. Either way, great video! Thank you!

As a black kpop fan I used to watch kmusicandblackwomen, until the first time someone cancelled her and had an over party for her. I realized she’s mad cringy like some things aren’t worth hyping up. Like I know I’m cute therefore why should I have someone from another race and ethnicity prove to me I’m cute just because they’re the closes thing to the kpop industry. They didn’t chose that title so why allow them to judge people based off of secret validation that’s based of the fetishization of a race.

Fetishisation makes me feel uncomfortable but from seeing some videos it really seems to go both ways. The way Korean boys seem to be obsessed with dating some idealised version of a foreigner, especially an Eastern European it seems really is just the same thing like all these girls are doing with Korean guys, it be going both ways.

I personally only like that she posts some cute fan encounters with black fans that I never would've seen anywhere else, like the blk girl who ran into jungkook in seoul. Otherwise, she's hella weird and supports colorist idols who have been problematic since forever. Like all an asian guy has to do is milly rock and they're dropping their pants like bitch what ???

iblogkbeauty is also a hardcore koreaboo channel hiding under the “i love languages and i want to be an english teacher in korea” gimmick. She’s made a video where she’s desperately trying to look korean and goes on to out one of the members of Apink for their private sexual/romantic relations. Since she’s “dated zico’s best friend” and he told her everything she MUST have the right to release personal info about kpop idols lives right? /s

I used to watch Megan Bowen channel because she used to make inteseting videos about korean culture But lately it's all about "Date with my KOREAN BOYFRIEND" or "whatever... with my KOREAN FIANCÉ" And honestly I don't know how to feel about her.
@jnicolebrown12
@jnicolebrown12 5 лет назад
I personally don't enjoy watching Megan anymore. First of all, I think it's great she is emercering herself in Korean culture but at times I feel like she no longer considers herself American and has changed drastically to fit it in. Change can be a good thing, but not to where you change everything about you to be accepted. LaLa changed nothing about herself and ended up in a relationship. Also, idk when she became the spokesperson for all Black people and all Americans in general about "how to act in Korea" and not to be disrespectful. As if the natives in whatever country you travel to can't or won't be disrespectful. And my last opinion on Megan is that she feels like she is queen bee. She's lived in Korea for like 8 years, mastered the language, taking classes to get citizenship, and now has a Korean fiancee that she keeps mentioning is Korean(as if we already couldn't tell) I believe she feels like she has one-upped everyone.

I get so angry because of these. I have seen some black women comment "my bias will/won't like me. I'm so happy/sad" hunny you don't need someone's approval. You are beautiful. If I, being a brown girl followed that thought I think I would consider myself the ugliest potato in the world.

Thank you! I’m Muslim Half black n half south Asian and all my 19 years of my life people have made sexualiziing comments about my siblings and I and my parents relationship. And from the beginning I always used to watch kmusicandblackwomen for the shits n giggles however her videos made me feel kinda bad because I’m the product of a black and asian parents so the fetishy feeling crept up on me when she say “he wants chocolate” And I hate how people see us as rare unicorns and would do so much as to move to a different country just to pop out a child who looks mixed? Someone even said to me “ you should be glad she makes vids like that! Now there will be more yous in the world” shit like this makes me feel unexpected sometimes.

I’m a black girl and videos like this give me a bittersweet feeling. Like, watching them can sometimes make me feel better because I’ve grown up thinking that Asian men (and most other races) don’t like me for my skin tone but at the same time I do find it weird and uncomfortable with the way they make the videos titles and how much they - sometimes - over react and make something really small into something big; so I can completely understand why people would feel uncomfortable. I like to see that we can get love and appreciation from many different races and I love to highlight those interactions because, not only is it rare, but it’s also usually looked at as “weird” or “wrong”, but I don’t want it to be something that’s creepy. I know that some of the videos and some of the channels don’t MEAN to be the way they are (like KMusicAndBlackWomen just really wants to make black kpop stans feel good about being a black kpop Stan since the kpop community as a whole likes to be super easily towards black women and HATE the idea of their fave finding a black women REMOTELY attractive) but it comes off that way. So... I’m bittersweet. But, at the end of the day, people are gonna take what they can get 🤷🏽‍♀️
