The Tyra Banks Show - ''Racial perceptions and stereotypes'' (Recorded Mar 27, 2009) Is everyone a little bit racist? Guests speak openly and honestly about racial stereotypes.
😂😂😂 really? You may not, but Texas is racist.. just like every other southern state.. of course not every person there is racist and every person isn’t
And people have the nerve to say racism doesn't exist. It’s always going to be there no matter what race, color, or cultural background a person is or from, its just sad.
Good to see some honest racist white supremacists......really appreciate the young lady in the green shirt admitting that her father was very racist and her story is very similar to many white people in this country.
lmao omg lol dude wow. okay I don't know if I feel like teaching you anything. the black panthers were made from oppression of the black race, they were willin to be violent to make a point. did they? no. what did whites do at the time? they lynched blacks for fun- it wasn't just the kkk. and the kkk killed blacks. theres a difference in talking about doing something because someone is denying you rights. and killing ppl for no fucking reason!!!!!!! theyre not the same. you dimwit
the only reason blacks got equal rights was because they implied violence. cause that's all whites understand, for years blacks tried to appease them, they still do. I don't know why lol we call those uncle toms now.
oh and a lot of ppl who worked for the black pathers were agents of the police force. and still are. they race bait but don't really do anything lol they never have they're all talk. however the kkk... well you know about the kkk. you know about the everyday whites at that time lol your history books says so. you know about the post cards theyd send and the cartoons they made. you know lol black panthers ever do that to white ppl? NO. figure it out.
I thought that too. I know he's not stupid enough to portray himself like that on national tv when he's seeking a bright future. He must be really stupid though to do it even when he's paid.
I actually feel bad for Christian more than anything because he's missing out on a lot of potential friendships, but also because that was the way he was raised and that's a hard thing to rise above if you are not mentally prepared to tear the foundation of everything you were taught and teach yourself this. Essentially that makes him still a child in many ways, hence he needs an understanding "parent" to help guide him away from all that.
I hate when adults blame their ignorant viewpoints on their upbringing. As if the fact that they're adults who can think for themselves and have the ability to learn about the world around them is somehow besides the point.
Lol 5:30 "They're all thieves and drug dealers and generally don't have money." "His parents set up a trust fund and I don't see that. Me personally I had to sell drugs to get through college and had to steal. I generally don't have money."
i want to know what part of Texas he from cuz i'm from Dallas and i'm a black women i'm not ghetto and i'm a biochemist major every black person is not ghetto and my family very education men and women.
I don't know why some people are suprised racism is still alive. Hatred, jealousy, anger, greed, predjudice, etc don't seem to be going anywhere so we can't expect racism to go away if hate and anger are still in our world.
And this also seems kind of scripted with roommates. If they dislike each other what are they hanging out with one another. Not to say this couldn't possibly be happening to them or some one else
the black guy should probably not react so aggressively when reacting to what's being said about "black people being aggressive" comment cause it pretty much reinforces stereotypes I get scared of black men too when they act like that whether it was or was not warranted
Asians. Black. White. Mexicans. Everyone, they are all humans. They arent differant from others. We are all people. Its mean for people to think other races differantly
Agreed I was born and raised in inner city las vegas,NV. This does NOT exist there. every race, religion, sexual orientation mixed together. And I just moved to North Carolina and WOW the difference is shocking. The neighborhoods are literally all black, all white, or all hispanic. No mixing between races. I am white girl who likes diversity so yeah talk about culture shock!
That's actually a thought that's crossed my mind before--the point Tyra raised about voice mechanisms being inherently different across races. Like, I noticed blacks in the UK sound similar to blacks in America.
The girl in the green shirt isn't racist, she's been taught to be scared of black people she can't help it. It's just like how I was/am raised to accept others no matter what, I can't help it it's how I'm being brought up.
If someone of any race does something bad, obviously it'll trace back to them and "their people", it doesn't matter what color you are, it's who you are and what you do that gives that stereotypical image.
I was in stall one time at a walmart and I live in a very pre dominant hispanic community, and they always talk in the intercom and this guy's voice is thick and this guy of course sounded country and he was "wtf did he say speak english god damn it" literally my blood boiled luckily I wasn't outside when he said it.
I appreciate your positive feedback Emily, thanks for the support! In no way did I want to start a race debate with certain close minded people like Major Woody. But you make a valid point and that is skin is just a color, and people should look past that different characteristics and view a person based on their personality.
This really upsets me... A few people from a particular race do something stupid and reckless, like stealing or drug dealing, and everybody from that race is perceived negatively. I know people from all sorts of races - black people, hispanic people, white people, and they are very nice, wholesome individuals.
I am a black girl and I do not think the world owes me anything. You can never say ALL the people of one race act a certain way because you have not met every single black person in the world. I am 13 and I love all races. People need to stop being so closed minded.
I have friends of all races. I know people of all races (as does of everyone) And I must say there is no differences. Every race has mean, nice, smart, stupid, and whatnot else.....
I am from the hood, Compton, so it's pretty normal for people to call each other "nigga", I'm not black but I use it all the time because I never use it to offend anybody it's just ingrained in me. My friends use it, my family uses it, the people in my neighborhood use it. I don't like using the one that ends is r because I never use the n word to refer to black people I use it as ppl would use dude or homie or whatever
i cant believe you find that hard to believe people are people, and they will always be how theyve always been, regardless of how liberal the world tries to force itself to be
Race has a lot to do with voice actually. Linguistic anthropologist not only study the actual language of a people but also the sound of the voice and it has been determined that people of different races have certain sounds in their voices just like people of different races have different facial features. I don't know much detail of it but I dated a linguistic anthropologist once so he taught me a few things about it.
The fact that the guy, Christian, got into a college with his close- mindedness, ignorance and plain racist attitude simply shocks me. There is no reason for all these hatred and suspicion. It's simply ignorance.
Born and raised in Texas as a white male, I can tell you that a good group of white Texans do indeed act like Christian in the video. BUT, I can also tell you that that is not a correct representation of us. The media has caused more tension between peoples than most people know.
what tyra said about black people sound different cause our vocal cords in false information, your voice/accent comes from where you was raised as a child. for example, if a white kid was raised in jamaica, they would sound jamaican, if a chinese man was raised in america, he would sound american
I KNOW! I'm from Texas and I have so many friends who are black (and so many other races). The scariest people to me are the ones who make comments like that kid...
I am white and I have very exclusive European and British ancestry and I was uncomfortable with black people at first but I learned that everyone is equal not matter what their outward appearance and just because some black people have shot people its not because of their race or skin colour its because of their attitude and personality some people just need to grown up and stop attacking people just because of they are different
Forget about the hypocritical situation, the true situation is why do they still give power to a word?! Every race has been put a racial word and from personal experience and friends, we do not permit to give in to whatever names they tell us.Don't give power to a simple word!:)
I moved from California to Texas and honestly I have experienced no racism at all where as where I used to live it happened all the time...just depends where you live I guess
I was raised in a conservative, racist household, and I completely disagree with Brittany and Christian. They're just using their upbringing to justify their own racist, close-minded beliefs.
Well I'm from Austin go to University in San Antonio and I have never had a problem with racism, ever. I have friends of all different demographics and races. Although I will admit their are certain parts of Texas that are more racist than others on any spectrum; white, black, hispanic, muslim...etc
I am a student that I like to see the world around an anthropologist perspective. I do not agree with racism, but in terms of words it is just words so do not over react that much. Words only represent what we want them to represent. Another thing is with racism sugar coating it is not helpful. Talk and actual try to work through issues instead of trying to avoid it.
I'm black and I would never call a white person any type of racial slur nor would I call any other person of a different race a racial slur. It's just disrespectful and rude. Plus I get uncomfortable hearing other black people saying the n word. Why say it yourself if you want others to stop saying it?
My question for Christian would be "Who the fuck cares where you come from?" You can learn to be better than where you come from. It's a very good idea to make this kind of person learn...
I'm sick and tired for people blaming their ignorance on TV or saying that's how I was raised. Read a book, educate yourself, go outside the U.S, meet people from different cultures, beliefs in order to gain knowledge and to become a better person. You can't just lump a certain group of people into a box and say they all like that, it is so unfair and wrong. Never judge a race, judge an individual. I rest my case.
Many people ignore that racism started during the Renaissance with the neon-paganism. European religions as everyone knows were polytheists, in contrast with African religions which were mainly monotheist. Some were afraid that Judaism and Christianity were a thread to w culture. What they did not want to understand is that in Christ, we are all the same. Racism and origin should not affect Christians. in 1444 the first ship of African slaves was taking to Europe, later the Pope supported it
I never said all black people were my relatives or friends, it's called a metaphor. What YOU need to understand is that it's only being spoken because black people are trying to RECLAIM it, so every time a non-black person uses it, that's a step backward. If you're not black, it's not your word to use. Fullstop.
im black and i dont say it, but it is those ppl making lemonade from lemons. ppl took a negative word, and made it something, almost as a term of endearment. and outsiders, it seems like it still has that negative condentation bc of the past and it gets the old jim crow-racist south slave feel when some1 white or non black in general, regardless if they were or were not using it in that kind of way.
