I’m watching this video today because this morning I was talking to an Asian, Christian woman about my anger over racial injustice. I’m sure she can relate to some of my experiences with race, but not exactly. The experience of Asians and Hispanic women in the USA is not the same. I feel like I have a lot of generational racial trauma that I need to deal with, on top of current racial and economic injustices. Conversations like these are very helpful. We need to treat all people with the same love and respect that we ourselves wish to be treated. No life is more valuable than others. I was also listening this morning to the Bill Gates graduation 2007 Harvard University speech, where he invites graduates to work to reduce world inequalities. There’s much work to be done. 1. Listen. 2. Identify the shame and work around that to the point where you forgive.
What does it feel like to be a white woman today? Painful and hopeless. A whole 80 year life of watching horror. Forgiveness is the hardest assignment, Jesus.
Just remember, you react to certain situations with anger but no one can make you angry. The only behavior you are responsible for is your own. Turn your reactor factor into action that strives for a possitive results. I am a white woman that is fighting for equality, not because I think African Americans need my help, but because white Americans need to understand our true history and acknowledge that the problem exists. White privilege blinds people who have it. #callforreparationsEJ
