Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways
In this video we are back in racing mode as this time we race the tribal chief of mainline steam SNGLT's A4 pacific 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley as she works the stock move from Crewe 5A to Southall LSG via the WCML.
This being in preparation for the A4 to work Locomotive Services Group's 1st mainline steam trip of the 2024 season Steam Dreams's Cathedrals Express from London Kings Cross to York & back along the ECML.
We start at Crewe 5A as we see the stock hauled by class 47 47805 Roger Hosking come into the station with the A4 on the rear.
We didn't get a chance to film the departure as our train was just pulling in which is were the race began as we overtake the A4 on Madeley Bank & as an added bonus we got the A4 coming through Stafford station as our connecting train pulled in.
We overtake the A4 for a 2nd time between Stafford & Rugeley.
Originally Rugeley Trent Valley was planned but after getting a tip off the A4 had a 15mph speed restriction on the slow line through the station so that plan was scrapped.
So we went to Nuneaton & it was a great call with the A4 in fine fettle as he raced through the station whistling as he goes by which is were we end this video.
