So, fun fact about the sandygast that were melting in the rain, and any other pokemon that have environmental effects that happen to them (such as exploding voltorb or Hoppip flying away in the wind), shinies won't do that. They're immune, just the same way that they're immune from being murdered ala Let's Go Mode. So, Mikey could've just stayed put when it started raining, and gotten his shiny to spawn without even moving.

@@confusedlemon2986 It definitely would have been faster. I used the same tactic with a Dunsparce outbreak I had one day, cause non-shinies will bury themselves into the ground to run away. Shinies stay put.

I was honestly really scared for Mikey about the Sandygast when he left while it was raining - from what I've heard, rain DOESN'T make shiny Sandygast's despawn, so he could have used that. But it worked out anyway, so, eh.

It’s actually best to shiny hunt sandyghast in the rain because the shiny can’t despawn like how you can’t autobattle it. You can just stand still and wait for a black sand to spawn

Little fun fact about the rain and the weird sand castle Pokémon whos name I always forget: The shiny actually won't be affected by the rain so you can hunt it just fine, I'd argue that it works even better in the rain because all the non-shinies will die and only the shinies will stay!

Fun fact: 10:00 when sandyghast spawns in the rain it will de spawn shortly after as it dislikes rain HOWEVER if it is a shiny it will not de spawn but rather stay and tough out the rain! So if Michael stayed and hunted it would have been significantly faster!

PSA : Shiny sandyghast doesnt disappear in the rain. So rain is actually beneficial to you when shiny hunting. Similarly shiny voltorb doesnt explode ans shiny sudowoodo doesnt run away from you as quickly and brambleghast blows away in a sandstorm but the shiny rolls very slowly!

Tip for mikey, any shiny that can do something to ruin themselves in the wild like voltorb will not. Shiny voltorb wont explode and shiny sandygast wont melt in rain.

The cool thing about Sandygast in Violet and Scarlet, the normal ones fade in rain but the shiny one doesn’t. Voltorb too, the shiny doesn’t explode

FUN FACT: pokemons that despawn by itself (sandygast, voltorb) don't despawn if the pokemon in question is shiny hence it being better to farm sandygast is rain (I assume)

Fun fact it's actually better to hunt shiny Sandygast in the rain! The rain will melt and despawn the regular ones but shinies are immune to that, the way shiny voltorb won't explode and shiny hoppip won't be blown away, so hunting sandygast in the rain just speeds up the spawns!
