I've had it for awhile with a DSG car and its very interesting. The biggest difference you'll see is during the half mile i got a few more MPH and about a second quicker. 1/4 mile doesn't show much of a gain but still is quicker than stock. I think it would be alot quicker if it didn't somehow mess with the way that the DSG shifts.. above gear 3 it shifts significantly slower then it does without it, i've tested this is many surfaces and weather etc and the only way to kind of get around it is to shift manually earlier then you'd really want to.. which in turn just makes you about just as slow lol. It's a neat box though and they promise to give a free stage 1 tune if you buy it, which alone should be worth the purchase! (1/2 mile and 1/4 mile vids on my channel for anyone wonderin)

Just to give you the heads up for you or others wanting to enhance the power output of the car when it is in the factory warranty period. For some years now the factory can check to see if the car has been enhanced for power output within 30 seconds of connecting to the factory server when the car is plugged in during routine servicing. Also any software updates required to fix a problem released by the factory will not be installed by the dealer as it may brick the ecu which will not be covered by warranty or by the tuning company, the cost will stay with the customer. Once a vehicle is identified as having OR HAD its power increased, has a marker placed in the warranty field which can’t be removed even when you put it back to standard. Any major expense to do with the driveline could be rejected if the marker is in place. Due to the factory unfairly paying out over the years for failed engines, turbos, front and final drive units of modifiéd cars they came up with a solution to identify modified ecus either by flashing or piggy back type boxes. All drivetrain warranty claims have to be accompanied by a test run in ODIS which downloads all ecu info to the factory server further enhancing their ability to build a case for refusal to pay out. Don’t want to spoil your fun, just be aware of the consequences and don’t expect them to pay out if it grenades, which could have happened even without the power increase. As long as you are aware of this info, you can do what you like.

The camshaft sensor is used for rpm signal. This unit is the same as our JB1 unit in the way it works but the JB1 adds fuel pressure as well. This relies on the ECU adaption range for fueling.

I was always a skeptic on these piggy backs. But if racingline makes one I trust they will do a good job

For a 10% power increase, I would simply opt for a Throttle Booster and get the power delivery better for a 1/3 of the cost of this PCM. Paul, you make your videos fun to watch 👍

I had two Pickbacks. Bluespark. They work but you just don't get as much out of them as you would from a decent APR remap. The pickybacks I had also went a little iffy after some months with flat spots and sporadic hesitations. Needless to say I ripped the thing off and went fora proper remap tune. APR was the best performer adding a good 30% across the board on performance knocking off 1 second from 0 to 100km run.

Ohhh the mounting is so cleannnnn. Would love to have one for my red GTI

It looks like a much cleaner install versus the jb4. Also not having to pay extra to get Bluetooth connectivity and the app to control it is nice too. Although that’s because you can’t change maps but they do offer you a free upgrade to their oem+ calibration when it’s available so that’s nice

Thank you again Paul for another informative video. This looks a bit easier than the JB4 as you don't have to go through the firewall. Overall I think I like this better as the removal would seem to be easier if you needed service.

I love my piggy back on my Civic! They produce just enough power to tell a difference and it’s a 15 min. DIY.

Make a video on Clutch kits for tuned 6MT cars, PLEASE. Will a TTRS clutch kit handle stage 1+ or future Stage 2? Is South Bend Stage 3 only option ? I don’t want chatter or extremely stiff clutch for a Daily Driver. and NO I didn’t want the boring DSG!

Here is my comment to enter to win. Seriously though, idk what it is about Racingline that has me hooked on that brand. I’ve got the r600 and planning on the downpipe, turbo inlet, suspension, and even the wheels. If they had an exhaust for my mk7.5, I would have gotten that too.

Solid video. MK8 platform is looking really promising.

The racing line unit is very basic but the install is super clean especially with the way it is mounted. Jb4 is more powerful as it has datalog capability, OBD monitoring, custom tuning of boost and AFR.

From what I've gathered, during the MK7 era dealerships could check logs for fuel trim data and figure out if you were doing anything shady that way. So the idea was to use more conservative maps (basically smaller gain modes) to be totally invisible. I'm not sure if dealerships have gotten smarter about searching for this kind of stuff since those days though. Only time will tell
