It also takes the bravery of each race to step toward the other. One of my good friends showed up at a Bible conference, one of the only black women there. But she was so friendly and outgoing, that we stuck up a shared love of camping and nature. I'm so glad she stepped out of her comfort zone, so I could meet her.

My family is mixed race and mother's in the church helped me learn how to hot comb my twins hair. Our family endured a lot of racism even from both sides of our families. Later God opened a door in the church and I was the only white person in our jurisdiction for a long time. There were people in the church who could barely accept me and our family, and those that loved us just because we loved God. Mark this video means a lot to me that you hear God's voice to make us more aware of racial differences. God bless you.

There is as much racism on the part of black people as there is white - we are equal in the good and bad. "These white preachers" is a statement that suggests you do not recognize this. Every time I make a statement like this, someone returns by saying that "you can't understand because your are white." Well, maybe a black person doesn't understand because they are not white. All the narratives today are so one-sided. Furthermore, if you look at the churches that are spirit-filled, that teach the love and miracles of God for today, you will find true diversity in culture, ethnicity, and age - more often than not it is the "culture" of a group of people that separates. The traditional black church is very different than the culture of a traditional white episcopal church and neither groups wants to spend hours on a regular basis in the other culture. A white episcopal church can seem slow, boring and too sedentary while a traditional black church can seem too loud, too long, too unpredictable to the episcopalian. My opinion is that it is rarely about the color of one's skin but more about the culture - not to say there are not true racists out there - there are - but there is FAR AND AWAY less than the media's propaganda is trying to force on us.

@@cestmoiiiiiiiiii Yes! Because this is the Church last chance to get it right, because each time in the past, the Church was on the wrong side. They can stamp it out, but instead they keep saying it doesn’t exist! For example, stopping modern slavery is good to stamp out, but at the same time, teaching the country that we don’t talk about our Country’s Slavery/Jim Crow/Racism even though millions of us are still living!! We still teach our worse time in history, the civil war, had nothing to do with slavery. And they teach that Slavers were Godly people, for example, Robert E Lee. He was EVIL and use to beat innocent slaves brutally, but the other folks only wants you to know that he read the Bible and taught Sunday School!

"Why don't we start demonstrating to each other." Oh, Andrew! So deep! Isn't it sad that we have to even ask the question of how to approach people of a different color in our churches? Do we ever ask how to approach those that look like us? No. We just approach them. Why have we made it so hard? This was a wonderful conversation! Thank you so much. You guys have been missed!

And all my life I have longed to connect on a deep level with people of color, to have honest, direct conversations. The mistrust makes it difficult. Thank God, heaven is going to be a very diverse place with mutual love and trust. I can't wait.

Great discussion. We stopped to eat today and had a GREAT conversation with a wonderful black group. The Lady gave me a cap I needed out of the fullness of her heart. Before we got in to eat we were having another conversation with another black couple. I had a marvelous time. Wonderful people not black just people. I only use the term Black as descriptive for context. One thing the second lady and I talked about was she was the only poor black child in the her school. Did anyone hug her said come over for dinner or lets hang out? WOW! I know I have changed today! How do we get the Church to change when it has become so impersonal? We are the Church! One hug or invite at a time! It is up to all of us Black or White to extend your heart.

I was blessed to grow up as an adopted white girl with an adopted sister who looks mixed or "light skinned" if you will and I also grew up with my dad being the pastor of a multi cultural/ethnicity congregation. I also remember being facsinated with black people's hair when I was young ...call me crazy but I was..and yes I've had a black guy laugh at me for that. I've also dated a guy of mixed ethnicities and one of the ethnicities being black. I used to say "one you go black you never go back"...I'm a Christian now so I live by Jesus's morals and I've been married for 10 years and now have a 5 month old son. My husband's white btw in case anyone wants to know. Anyway, my point is, we are all people. And I can't imagine not growing up with people of different countries not around me. Now, when it comes to living biblically, that's where I'm strict. Follow the Word, not what you think the Word says. Follow Jesus. There is only one race and that's HUMAN .

I absolutely adore Nicole & she & Kathy Gifford's original, "The Eyes That See" that the 2 of them wrote, & that Nicole performed in the Holy Lands, that's available on RU-vid & is almost 13 mins long...well, when I was SO deathly ill w/what ended up being Covid pneumonia & I had told my children to just let me go, to just let me go home to be w/my Mama, who'd passed away in 2004, my kids knew how horribly ill I had to feel. Then I got c-diff from antibiotics & I was already NOT eating, so it was SO bad! At night time, I couldn't sleep, so I'd play, "The Eyes That See" over & over...then I'd play, "Redeemer" over & over, as I prayed aloud, crying out to my Heavenly Father. Nicole's beautiful music got me through some really tough times & that's saying a LOT about her faith, her grace, & her witness. She's such an awesome person who allows others to see Jesus always shine through her. ❤✝️❤

I'm sorry this happened to you but you should know that this is not the normal or the majority. I understand why you don't want to face it or deal with it - I wouldn't - but I say that either those people don't represent the entire church or, if they do, find another church- most charismatic church have great diversity - all of our churches were very diverse. Besides, sometimes people just don't know what to say or how to say something. I think we all need to extend grace as people try to figure out how to live with each other. I also believe most people are thrilled to get to know people of a different culture, ethnicity or background. Don't let the few destroy your desire to "forsake not the gathering together." Also remember, some people are just snobs and if it is not your culture or race, they can be awful about something else. We will always have those among us unfortunately =

Oh man, the conversation with this pastor was so saddening. When are we going to move forward? I praise God that I am not held accountable for the sins of my fathers. I am only responsible for breaking the chain of sin, through the power of the Holy Spirit & not be found guilty of repeating the sins of my forefathers. We stand alone before the Lord on Judgement Day. Nicole C. Mullins has always sung the prayers of my heart. Please know that I post this comment with no animosity in my heart. Only deep, deep sadness for attitudes still carried into the futures of our children & how much we all disappoint our Lord.

This is bazaar to me. I was raised in a mixed race church. My father was the pastor. There was never a line between the races. We lived together. Our parents did things together. The kids were all close. At one point we had our own school. We never knew any kind of differences. The black people in our church were well employed and there was not that difference at all. Honestly some of the upper middle class members were black. Not all. We had po or black and white members also. We just all walked together as one group. Love ruled the day. I think the mixed church in itself would solve the racism problem. Black people spent the night with me I stayed with them. Some of my best friends were black brothers. I don’t go to church now but I just can’t imagine racism in the church. I’ve seen it every where else. We had none in our church. I’m thankful for the way I was raised. We all knew each other so well. I actually stayed weeks at a time with my black friends while my parents were on mission trips. I can’t say that no one at all had bad thoughts because I’m not in there heads. Most of our musicians and singers were black. My Dad was white as the pastor but the co pastor was black. The other churches in our orginazarion had many black pastors. Gosh. We prayed together. I’m not dumb enough to say it was perfect but the way people on this show are talking is so different than anything I’ve ever heard.

Had a very embarrassing encounter with a "racist church member" recently. Unfortunately, this wasn't my first encounter, but, this incident has me questioning if going to a "diverse" church makes any sense, or if going to church at all makes any sense. I can tell you for the first time in years I felt like giving up on this whole church thing. I reported the issue the same day and the "church leadership" promised to address it. Fast forward several months later, I'm still waiting on the issue to be addressed. Suffice to say, racism is a very touchy issue. So I'm with you on individuals showing that they love for who you are and not tell you that they love you for who you are.

So sad this is still going on. People all need to realize skin color is so unimportant in the grand scheme of things. Is a white cat better than a black cat?? NO Is a black dog better than a white dog?? NO Is a pink pig cuter than a black or spotted pig?? NO Is a squirrel less a squirrel because it's albino?? NO Which is better, a bald eagle or a golden eagle?? They're equally as good?? Which is better, a black cricket or a brown cricket? A yellow butterfly or a blue butterfly?? A pink rose or a red rose?? Do I sound silly asking these questions?? Good. That's how silly racism is regardless of cultural or ethnic differences. WHY in the WORLD do we tend to put such difference between people because of how much or how little melanin someone has in his or her skin?!?!? THAT is ridiculous to me. I've NEVER understood why some white people think they're better than black people, or why some black people think they're better than white people. Sorry, everybody, hate to break it to ya...but our Father in heaven created ALL of us in HIS image. Keeping that in mind, I have never seen a person I couldn't find something in common with. Just the fact that we're all human SHOULD be enough. Racism is evil and anyone who hates someone bc of their race is following their father, the devil....not God. We can't call ourselves Christian's if we hate anyone.

Great episode, Uncle Mark!! Really appreciated it. I don't know if perhaps it was edited out, but I hope Dr. Williamson and your co-host did discuss the role the church played in the abolition of slavery and later the Civil Rights movement. I was a little saddened that the his discussion focused on the negatives of the church and seemed to ignore the positives. While it is true that many within the church condoned and promoted slavery and segregation, it was largely bands of believers, black and white together, who championed the Abolition and Civil Rights movements.

Mostly Amish/ Mennonites helped during slavery exodus. During the civil rights movement both African American and Caucasian ministries stood back, but more Caucasian. I would love to see the church practice what they preach. If we really read and comprehended the word of God, we wouldn't have to be having these discussions. God's people know his thoughts. Most churches seem to only have a form of Godliness. We preach at people instead of leaning-in to the Holy Spirit to lead and blend us. Each time a movement starts, It's because God is calling us to be his true people. Who hear his voice. He's calling us back to him. The floods, tearing down and rebuilding of walls, poverty, wars and finally exoduses for his people were calls from God. I believe that the past USA election was a wake up call for his people. We are in a true spiritual drought. It is being exposed more and more everyday. Are we seriously willing to call crooked straight? If anything goes against the word of God,we shouldn't redefine the word, nor close our eyes and ears to it. We are here for such a time as this, to stand up and speak what the spirit leads us to. But we have to ask, and, listen to hear. Glad you 3 are talking, if only we all could.

It's understandable not to want to get involved bc it may get messy dealing with people. Sometimes they end up needing more help than we can give them. But, taking someone a hot meal and just sitting with them and talking can do a lot to at least make them know they are still important to the kingdom of God. That someone actually CARES. Who knows what brought them to the point that they don't have a home. Everyone needs to feel loved and cared for. Imagine being out in the elements all the time with no place to go, no one to talk to, no one to show love/care to you....it may be their own fault that they are in that place....but, they are still human. As long as any of us have breath in our lungs there is still hope. They need to know that. Life can be discouraging enough as it is. Being in the street would be so hard. Even if you just see someone in the cold without a coat and you have an extra one....how much better would you feel if someone did that for you? WhatEVER we CAN do is important to that person. We may not be able to do EVERYTHING...but just about everyone can do SOMETHING....Jesus said in the Bible He will say to us that we either did or did not help in His times of need by what we do to "the least of these, my brethren. " Look it up. Read it. Spend time in prayer. The Holy spirit will help you have proper discernment bc I know there are also pan handlers too.

Jesus says in His scriptures, "if you've given to the LEAST of these, my brethren, then you've given unto me." SO, I have a friend who makes a couple of loaves of fresh bread's worth of PB&J sandwiches every Wednesday, & she goes to this certain spot [where she's seen several people hanging around that are w/out homes] & they've gotten used to her coming...so, she hands out free sandwiches once each wk, to help know at least that day these people got to eat! Sometimes, it's a reason that could happen to ANY of us!! It doesn't take much. I asked my mom one time about helping a gentleman one day b/c I asked my mom, saying, "well, how do I know IF he's going to use it for food?" She told me to never give a blessing w/'conditions. Mainly b/c I don't EVER know what anyone's going through...& I learned something that day. (Moms are really smart!)💜💚💙

When I learned how to teach an English as a Second Language ministry, we discussed the fact that when 2 cultures that have different values, meet they can misunderstand and collide. American's don't spend enough time talking to people (because time is money), yet in other cultures it is okay to stop by and they will serve you food and invite you in to STAY and spend some time visiting with them. While I grew up in an American culture that says "call ahead", "don't stay too long", "hurry up" this is considered rude in other countries. It is so much more than just a "color" thing, it is a culture clash as well. "I just don't understand why", so I don't try. My father grew up impoverished, he reflected this upbringing his whole life. He gave more away than he earned and he died in poverty. Although generous at times, he didn't think to take care of his family because this wasn't taught to him. My family had to overcome his neglect of us. Had we just accepted it as "this is how it needs to be", instead of fighting against it. Our own children would be suffering the same consequences as we did as children. I agree, we need to stop and hear each other's stories, learn another person's culture and we need to confront the societal lies that say "we/they aren't enough" because Christ died for all of us and in Him, we are more than enough. Because He is enough.

Gentlemen this was fantastic. Recently I watch a program on Netflix that was about the "13 amendments". It was a "documentary" and honestly, it shares some very informative things that we at those that are "caucasian" need to open our eyes to see. In the end, however, it was disrespectful to those in authority over us. Therefore it could turn people off. ThESE INTERVIEWS HOWEVER WERE FULL OF HOPE. The pastor and what Nicole shared was so helpful. Mark, it is cool how you go to a predominately black church! So there is an example of how we are all one in Christ. "They will know we are Christian by our love". Without Christ, there is no real change. With Christ, we all need to examine ourselves. Even if we did not see discrimination much in our own lives. Slavery is out there in all cultures. Yes getting to know people personally from a different culture. Inviting them into our homes. Growing up we have tried to have our four children see how we need to get to know people that may be raised differently than us culturally or of a different color. So keep sharing truth!!! With Jesus there is hope, He sets us all free, prisoners, slaves, proud, etc.. Sinners just like me. Blessings, Jane

That is a very dangerous attitude and unknowledgeable statement. Only 5% of people living in the south were actual "slave owners" so how are you going to determine who are their descendanta? Furthermore, are you taking into account the hundreds of thousands of white people who died during the civil war to end slavery - what about all the Quakers and others who gave their entire lives to free slaves? Did you know that more Americas died during the civil war than all other wars combined? Did you know that the Republican parts was started over the issue of slavery- the Whigs refused to make "ending slavery" a part of their platform so a new party was started. Did you know that the first black Congressmen were Republicans? My point is- hundreds of thousands of white people have given their lives to stop the injustice of slavery - so how do you determine "who has it in their DNA" That is a ridiculous statement and only leads to separation hostility and the belief that some people are better than others. FURTHERMORE, and let's emphasize this- what do you do about all the slave owners in Africa? Do you think only white people were slave owners? Slavery is historical and worldwide. I'm afraid that your statement actually LEADS to attitudes of superiority. In God's sight, all people are created equal.

Back in the 90's our pastor said Sunday was the most segregated church of the day. To combat that, he invited one of the local black preachers to come preach at our church. The local black pastor showed up in a big red Cadillac and preached on how terrible white people had been to black people. Our pastor said, "Never again." What a shame that black pastor missed an opportunity to come together but rather chose to show his own bigotry as well. It was also a shame our pastor didn't try again with a different pastor. I don't think he did enough research before inviting. I can only imagine the hate for white people that must exist in that pastor's little black church. How sad that Christ wasn't the focus instead of skin color.

Learn about how God used the 12 tribes of Israel to build the Tabernacle, each tribe brought their treasures of gifts, some were workers of gold, some made fabric curtains, some carvers, everything according to the exact pattern God showed Moses. We are His Tabernacle, different in color, giftings, talents, customs, foods, but all beautiful, each culture is like the 12 tribes, having the same Father, each assigned to live differently, some were shepherds, some workers of silver and some made metal pots, iron pots, so on down the line...think about it..the Tabernacle could not have been made without one another and getting along.

This conversation was great to have, but for me...painful to hear. Its ashame to still hear the stereotypical views of African Americans such as, describing the meal with African Americans in Virginia. Im African American and have never tasted a chitterling.....To still have to reference Martin Luther King because this was your only exposure to black intellegence. I appreciate Miss Mullen and pastor Chris for using this opportunity to educate, referencing the Bible, and addressing the sterotypical views Whites have of African Americans. I also appreciate that these two men are brave enough to ask the questions, which once address sincerely, will bring forth healing to both races and the church.

When the pastor is talking about economic systems is he talking about capitalism? If he is then what does he want to replace capitalism with? Capitalism is just the free trade of products and work for pay. It's possible the pastor would disagree with me. Yet I hope he loves me because I love him. On the race issue, there was a comedian of African American descent who said he could not eat fried chicken, which he loved because of the stereotype. I wanted to hug him and say, "Let's eat some fried chicken together because I love it too and I love you."

Great and important conversations on racism!!! In the history of humanity and the wickedness of man against one another, the one with power has NEVER relinquished power willingly and justly; rather over time, our LONG SUFFERING GOD has forced the oppressor to relinquish their power and to institute restitution for thf oppressed. However, we all as individuals need to look inwards and check our hearts asking ourselves difficult questions such as: Am I prejudiced? Am I racist? Am I a wounded soul as a consequence of my experiences with racism? Have I too become prejudiced or racist as my response to pain experiences with racism? What does the HOLY BIBLE say about racial prejudice and discrimination and how must I change to align with the WORD of GOD?

I’m sorry, but I think that mass majority of the evangelical church would say that slavery was and IS wrong. I don’t agree that we as the saints of God owe any man an apology for that sin that our forefathers have already said was wrong. I think our energy needs to be spent in forging relationships cross culturally - intentionally as the church. I so agree with Nicole here.

As believer's in Jesus and family of God and although we are n in the world we are not of the world for our citizenship is in the Kingdom of God. Having said that! We as the body of Christ have to acknowledge that we are in a spiritual warfare with the power darkness and that we are living in fallen world due to our sinful nature and the only way to overcome the evil in the world is through spiritual warfare and make the difference and save as many souls for the kingdom of God.

$30 per month and only 3 lives per year? That’s not nearly enough lives saved but it sounds like a lot of pockets are getting filled. The idea and need is great but we need more able bodied people who care about people rather than the money. We need more local churches to get involved instead of relying on “non profits “ or governments programs. However you are on track as for reaching out beyond the discomfort of racial barriers. I have a very mixed family and at one time I was a member of a fairly segregated church but they moved to a new location. When I first heard that the church who bought my previous church’s building was that of a predominant black church I was told I probably wouldn’t be welcomed and since I knew the area and the racial tensions I believed it for several years. But I knew God was calling me back to church and I missed the fellowship of other believers. So you thought you know what I am going to go check out this church but then George Floyed happened and me being white I figured that wasn’t the best time. Well now that I have become active in that church since this past October I am like why did I listen to the devil and let him keep me from the house of the Lord! It’s just putting faith over fear of the unknown sometimes and trusting God. I HAVE been sooo blessed since returning to church and I honestly don’t think God could have chosen a better church for me. I LOVE LOVE my church and of course GOD! ❤🙏

The buck stops here, the saying goes. Please stop blaming other people for whatever issues you have. It's not Obama's fault,Trump's,your mother, father, aunt, uncle, the media or whoever or whatever else we blame, except for the fact the devil does have a major roll in humankind's division. SIN is why we are divided even in the church and our damnable infatuation with ourselves and not really being full of the Agapae love of Jesus Christ. We are so full of pride and hav'nt learn the art of death to self as we should and so this so called racial mess is still in our churches. The true church of the Lord Jesus Christ WILL have to get it right and she will before He returns to catch us away to forever be with Him where there will be no more, white church, black church, brown church or denominations. One Lord, one Faith, one Baptism. Until we all come to the unity of the faith (and race...my words)! Until then, keep crying out to God...If My People...
