When I was a youngster Steve Caballero was a genius on a skateboard and people including myself thought of him as a god. I still do! I love you man thanks for inspiring me in my youth and still today! Still have my old pair of Half Cabs! God Bless all Sk8ers
He is the Grandpa of skateboarding and have been there for decades and is still pushing strong plus he is a friendly face in the game.. Deepest respect to the Cab!
About to turn 48 and considering skating again after 20+ years. Grew up following Cab and all the greats from the 80's. Unreal to see him ripping still and what a man, what a true father and family man. Makes me very happy to see someone I idolized be a good human being... Thanks for the behind the scenes look and God bless.
I remember seeing "Stevie" the first time at Campbell Skate Park, His mom dropped him off. He was a small kid but was fearless and shredding everyone, especially on the vert and air. He was amazing then and apparently still is.
Cab, as a fellow father that I used to consider myself was a hardcore motocross rider, and had to eat much humble pie to become a father i would have wanted to have. The no whipping I can relate to. I cracked my belt like my father used to do, and I did not have the heart to whip them across the ass like I got regularly (I was spanked like most bare ass with a leather belt). I could not follow through like my dad had done to myself many times. I love my father and often ponder if I’m helping or hurting my boys by going light on them. All you can do as a good father is support your children and watch them develop their own passions. Your inspirational as always Cab🏁
Its amazing seeing your person as dad and family man. After all this years of following your hero skating never had a chance to get to know you lol.You inspired me to skate Your flying time has increased a lot since the 90s keep it up Make some half cabs in red and gray!!
I ran into Steve recently while rolling up to the pump track in the morning. He and McGill had just finished a session at the track and were leaving but stopped to chat and take a few pictures. This man is unbelievably humble and nonchalant. Steve, you see this, thanks again!
First saw Cab in '79 SkateBoarder Magazine. Love seeing whats happened since! A born again christian, goofy footed kids! I can relate to this! May we reign with Jesus, forever!
Hell ya brother. I love cab haven't seen him but once in last 30 years but he hasn't changed one bit. We did a photo shoot for skateboard mag. At cambell skatepark and both made the mag. Together jan. 79. Seems like yesterday when I watch this. He was like an old soul then. Wise enough to not have a surgery to straighten out the neck. SMART CHOICE no telling if it would have messed him up, but I certainly wouldn't have messed with a good thing. It was worth millions not to mention all the memories and awesome places he has been.
I remember meeting Steve at Brave New World in Seaside Heights N.J. in approx 1988, I was around 12. I had his Powell Peralta board then and was so happy to get it signed by him, remember him being such a laid back cool dude spending alot of time talking to all the kids there. Wish I still had that board to hang on the wall.
Rad Steve. My first time seeing you in person was a ET Surf shop demo in Hermosa beach LA. Since then, you were always me favorite skater. Fast forward some years it was so cool being able to skate at the Milpitas Vans skatepark when you were also skating. Great to see your son Caleb has similar interest. Cool coincidence my son I staked with at vans in Milpitas ( whose now 26) is also named Caleb ;).
Used to go to school with Caleb! He’s such a great person to be around and such a down to earth kind of guy. Lol and drives a mom van to school everyday to drop off Caleb and clover.
I'm coming to that senior skate night some day soon. We gotta skate a pool for old times. Maybe right before the pool party you outta be practicing then.
his son has a passion for skating.. are you checkin a text during skating? no im changin the music.... im glad theres still hope for the younger generation especially with children like him that goes outside instead of stayin inside being scared of the world from media distraction
Hey Stevie C. Remember you went to see Metallica at the Stone PaloAlto when Cliff Burton was still alive . Me and my homeboy were stage diving and I landed on you. We picked you up and you were a little dazed but you said you were allright. That show ill never foget on stage with Cliff was amazing adrenaline the Stone had this stainless floor in front of the stage. It was a slaught fest that night . mark g
It was such an ispiration to hear that Steve turned to the Lord and became saved. Such a humble man. I would like to meet him one day. I grew up watching him skate. Just like Christian Hosoi, it is awesome to see how they made this important decision to better themselves.
dirtbikes are sketchy.. after my AC3 sep I pretty much rarely go moto.. and if i do.. i am very careful.. went from Moto to MTB.. My daily commute from HB to RSM is still on a street bike tho :P
I hate to be the one to say it but Clover damn near has more balls than Caleb that kid is gonna have a rough go of things from the look/sound of it. I feel so bad for kids these days they got it way too easy I was on some grown man shit when I was 12 on and off the board 😂🙏🏼
Steve, you say being a Christian made you a better Husband but at the Skatepark you say you have joint custody of your children meaning you gave split from your wife or partner ? 🤔🤔
