Today I paddled the new Wilderness Systems Radar 115 and 135. This is Wilderness System's first Pedal-ready kayak. I am very impressed with these kayaks and cannot wait to fish out of mine.

This is a great review. I bought the 115 a few days ago. Only gripe I have which is totally my fault is I wish I woulda got the 135. Simply for that just a bit more space in the back. I like the "hybrid" options. I upgraded from a Pelican Catch 120. I switched to kayak fishing about 6 months ago and I am very impressed with all the options with the Wilderness.

Yes, I think I'm going with the 135. Just worried about going down slow moving rivers.

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on getting a 115 or 135. The weight is the deciding factor on the 135. 95lbs. Whoa! I want the tracking and speed of the 135 for open waters, but not sure my back will survive it. 13lbs heavier than the 115. I have been on a Tarpon 120 for the past 6 months. The Tarpon comes in at around 70lbs unrigged of course. Wheeew. What do you think about the weight? Love the fact I can get a pedal drive in the future for one of these boats. Most other kayaks with pedal drives are pedal only, no option, except the FF Lure series. Thanks for the great vid! Keep up the honest opinions and on water test reviews. They really help folks make better purchase decisions!

Do you still fish out of the Radar series? If you had to purchase one of them, which one would you buy? The 115 or 135? Thanks your recommendation will be important because you've paddled both boats.

12:32 - There seems to be an awful lot of water coming up through the scupper holes for a boat with a a 475lb weight rating.
@OregonBassFishing
@OregonBassFishing 7 лет назад
Lee Mychajluk I weigh 300 lbs... so yeah water comes up the scuppers
@lmychajluk
@lmychajluk 7 лет назад
Okay, so that's 2/3 the rating. What happens when you add a 20lb pedal drive and all your fishing gear?
@OregonBassFishing

Lee Mychajluk then I guess I need to lose some weight

Lee Mychajluk I was thinking the same thing. a lot of water through the scuppers...

I noticed that.....I was considering this boat for this year but after seeing all that water coming through those scuppers, i immediately eliminated it from my list of possible new yaks.

Going with the Feel Free lure 10 or the Slayer 10 pedal drive

man I like this one. the motordrive though is $2k just by itself. a bit crazy. but pedal drive someday would be cool

What color is the Kayak? It doesn't look like the "Dusk" coloration or any of the other color options. Did you get it custom?
@OregonBassFishing
@OregonBassFishing 6 лет назад
TheKessi1000 it’s dusk! Every one is unique so some are very red some are more orange etc

Thank you for the very quick reply, I appreciate the information. Would you answer me one more question please? I mainly kayak rivers the size of the Deschutes in Central Oregon (i'm sure you've done it). I stay on calm water stretches. Would you recommend the Radar 115 for that style of kayaking, or the 135 (I am very much torn between the two)? I currently run a tarpon 100 that is really a great all around kayak (especially the stability), but it does lack speed. I have a very nice Aqua-Bound Stingray (full carbon) paddle. I will be doing float trips with friends as well as fishing. could you break down what I could expect between these two on a river like that? I would greatly appreciate your input.

TheKessi1000 for sure! In a current situation I would always lean toward the 115. The shorter kayak allows for better and quicker handling in smaller places. The 135 shines in long straight situations. One nice feature on the 135 however is the oval hatch. You can store your rods inside your kayak with it, and wouldn’t be able to with the circle hatch. As far as stability they are very similar.

@TheKessi1000 6 лет назад
The front hatch wasn't a big deal for me. I only fish with typically 2 poles. The big factor was the front end pull that you mentioned between the two. You said the 115 wobbled in the front a little more. Do you honestly notice that at all? would you not even consider that a big deal? How much easier is it to turn the 115 than the 135? Thank you for the last reply.

TheKessi1000 I have the radar 115 and it is an awesome kayak the seat is super comfortable and its very stable the nose rock isnt that bad only rocks side to side just a little bit when you first get going after that its fine paddles straight.

Ever paddled a feelfree lure? I have a lure 13.5 thinking of selling it for the radar 115
@OregonBassFishing
@OregonBassFishing 7 лет назад
joseph chop I have not but I do know that the Feelfree's are prettt slow. I have a buddy that has a lure 10 and it's ultra slow

I would totally sale the any feelfree over the WS Radar 115 or 135! I own many yaks and my top was the Hobie Revolution 13 and I'm also transitioning to the 135. Such an awesome well designed boat best so far!

How tall are you mate? I'm 6ft 7 and worried I won't fit
@OregonBassFishing

SimplyFishingAus I am 6 foot tall. If you are worried about your legs being too long for the pedal drive... I have the seat slid almost all the way forward so you will have plenty of room to adjust.

Find it odd to see comments on Feelfree. They don't even compare to the 115 or 135. WS Radar dominates feelfree. Hobie Revolution is the only other yak that can get close this yak.
