I agree with you. I'm 63 and I remember baby-sitting my niece for my older brother when I was 12 or so in '72 or '73 and he had the Golden Earring album and a stereo system with a Sansui 4 channel Receiver (what they called a tuner/integrated amplifier) through a set of Acoustic Research speakers, I can't remember the turntable, but it was high end. All that in his den (what they called a man cave before man caves. With that said, if anyone reading this likes this rendition and hasn't heard the original you owe it to yourself to seek it out. This is a pretty good cover, the best I've heard so far but without the original horns it just isn't the same. The brass horns just jump out at you and take it to another level. I can't describe it well enough. Just listen to the original once. In fact, talking about it makes me want to hear it now. I'm going to bring it up.

Check out Eliza Thorn doing Night Life (W. Nelson 1960). Talk about young person keeping tradition alive. Oh my.. She currently has a gofundme in progress to fund her first album. Same, except I was in a 74 Camaro with a 70-71 Corvette 350 with the ol' camel hump heads and a Rochester Quadrajet. Amazingly, it would bury the speedo with ease - roughly 150 mph. It was crazy that those old buckets were that fast, but they were.

@@RussellStClair-cy1vu The funny part is that when the state trooper went past me on the freeway and turned on his lights and went down the hill and out of sight, I braked hard and took a u-turn and put on my brights as he went by looking for me and the Trans am that I was racing and then took another U-TURN and then followed him because of my destination!!!!!! The other guy pulled over and waited for the trooper to give him a ticket and he said it a couple of minutes for him to arrive!!!!!! Fun Times a couple of decades ago lol 😆
