Hey everyone back in Scrap Mechanic with some improvements for piston power! After the multiplayer Monday failure I decided to revisit the piston engine and make a few different variants including a radial engine!

Maybe you should make a giant car (so that the engine is realistically sized) and see if the pistons can power that, or if game collisions break it. Or severe lag. Either one.

unfortunately the pistons starting (lift) position no matter what you do is 1 block. i set up a dual piston vehicle that uses 2 pistons, a 90 degree after lift rotation, and a nice timing circuit to make it run smoothly.

Good job! I wish you did compare the torque of the piston engine vs vanilla engines by attacking a trailer to them. And also wonder how hard it can be to build V8 version of this.

Maybe you could double up the pistons in the I4 engine, for even more torque. And put in some gears to convert some of the torque to speed

Do a flat 4. 2 each side using the same two cranks. Mutch more space efficient.

kan you can probably 1/2 the size of the engine if you use 2 rings end 4 pistons instead of an crankshaft

well this is fantastic, you've got drive shafts, piston engines that run smoothly, now to make a clutch system and maybe 3 speed? transmission with revers, yeah the would be awesome!

most of those engines wont work in a future piston update because as axolot has said, that they will add a hitbox to the piston but that is hard to do. why do people keep forgetting that and make creations that wont work in the future?!

When they add collision you could always switch from pistons to suspension and get the same effect. If they remove all no collision blocks then we'd have to look at things differently :P

Problem is the hitbox that causes collisions is the same thing sensors look for

It is a lazy way to do things. Using glitches and non collision blocks defeats the purpose of playing an engineers sandbox. Instead people should be looking at how to overcome the limitations of physics and not the limitations of the engine. It will be a lot more impressive to achieve these feats without cheating.

Hey kAN I made an engine inspired by your straight 4 that you showed in the video. It has a different sensor system that would allow for a 3 piston engine which I think would be pretty cool. I made something like this and all the pistons went to 15 blocks it went flying in the air. Then cartwheeled away into the world somewhere. Should of R&D it in creative so I didn’t lose all the top tier stuff to a freak out.

kAN I made a gear system with a gear ratio of 1/390,625, with a controller at 60 rpm it takes 4 days to rotate 260 degrees. LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT ME TO UPLOAD IT. I'm derpy chicken btw I changed my name to my discord name and steam name and everything else because it was bothering me. Edit: I also have a 7.5 million pound weight cube (also on my workshop) on a vertical transfer gear at the top with an indicator so I can see how far it's moved. Also is it bad that I have over 100 hours of Scrap Mechanic in the past two weeks?

a very early bi plane solved fly wheel issues by bolting the crank to the plane, and the propeller to a spinning block. Would be a challenging build

Kan, I just a idea with the new pistons do the train delivery challenge with the new piston but you gotta build a steam train with the tender attach to the train and 3 Flatbed wagon With mail wagon there is gonna be 3 stations in Each station has two diffrent word There is A,B,C,D,E,F, Words. the rules are Do Not cheat and you gotta build The switch track and the buffer. the winner is if you deliver the package and the mail add exctaly word And The fastest Wins. can You Do This video? PLZZZZZZZ .

Hey, kAN, I have an idea for a high fire MG, use a piston at max speed and have it right behind the shell and force it 3 blocks for compact design, I'm almost certain you won't see this but if you do, your welcome for the tip! :)

Even if it's too bulky, you could just triple that last design on top of itself and put the seat in the middle. You could have the high, low and reverse gears, but it would have to be about 11-15 blocks high. It's still an awesome design concept.👍

Why don't you mirror the one engine to make it a Flat 8? Or even create 4 way symmetry, resulting in an X16? It would probably be ridiculously overpowered, but it would be pretty neat.

Loving these builds, had a go myself with the flat 4 piston engine, added an extra 4 pistons onto the end. tore apart my previous creation that have a go with this, even with the 8 pistons driving my builds too heavy just crawls at a slow pace. but its just too good to watch those pistons go round. feel free to check it out. all credit for engine design goes to @kAN Gaming. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=974380795

KAN, do u think u guys could try to do this project that I've been trying to do but can't? It's automatic things, you have the pallets from your fork left video and u put them on a convayor belt, a piston bot with pick it up, and move it, so basically the whole goal is to put pallets in and bots with automatically throw boxes in top, a car will pick them up(automatic car) and empty them and them bring them back so it's an infinite cycle

With all this torque you should just make a creation where you put as much weight it can haul. Then you probably got the most powerful vehicle possible to make in this game :)

on the radial engine you should try placing the bulk of sensors on a bearing you can rotate a bit. then you can increase both speed and torgue as needed by adjusting timing.. all interactive parts got a minor delay and this way you can make it fire exactly when you want.. love the radial engine concept.. that one got potentiale. but remember a heavy flywheel of some sort. scrap engines like to work and it makes it run smooth..

Make a V8 and see how many durf super heavy blocks it can pull or make a V4 with durf super strong pistons and see how much it can pull

try just reverse gear and do a clutch for example if you stop pressing button the clutch will activate so that the car can go with out locking the gears, but if you cant make clutch i dont think if it work, i think its impossible to make clutch out of blocks

I wish i had a gaming pc because I've been working on a position car or aka Bering engine in a mobile game called blocks world which is as close I can get so far I was testing the axle it works but its glitche if u play it check it level name project real engine

You should add a simple gearbox to allow reverse, but don't worry about other gears yet because I know that it is complex.

a solution for the complete braking problem with the radial engine or any piston engine for that matter: use pistons to engage/disengage the driver gear, that way you can keep the engine on and still idle to a stop.

Plz build a car with 2 of the 4 piston engines 1 engine on rear left tire and 1 on the right to create tank steering. Also add more weight to front than back to balance the amount of power.

Ovthe two cylinder emgine you can put the axle to 90 instead of 180 and it will be way smoother

If you return to brick rigs do a Bomb challenge where there are three detonators and only one isn't connected to a tank and see how many try it takes for someone to deactivate the bomb and whoever does it in the least amount of try's eins

Now you just need a gearbox. The question is are you just going to add reverse, or are you going to add multiple speeds as well?

My 8 cylinder 3speed+reverse sits about 60fps, so it shouldn't be an issue...
