Here we can see the start up of a US M4 Sherman Medium Tank (105mm).
Its engine, a radial 9 cylinder Continental R-975 (15,9L, 450hp) produces a lot of smoke at the begining because of the configuration of the engine: being a radial engine, when not in running order, a lot of oil gets to the lower cylinder, hence the lot of smoke.
This Sherman was restored by the teams of the Belgian War Heritage Insitute (WHI).
