Finally! Someone who knows what they're talking about! All that nerve flossing and upper forearm stretching garbage was getting me nowhere. Thank you!

MRI's and EMG's have their place but are often overused as they don't actually test "functionality" of an area that is symptomatic. The key is to run you through multiple manual (hands-on) tests to see what positions cause the most symptoms, where the symptoms are located and what tasks initiate the worst response. I recommend a program that involves Flextend where you perform Palm-Up, Thumb-Up and Palm-Down Isolated exercises, with possible pronation/supination exercises and go from there.

This guy's good. I got radial T by exercising at work with hand grips and rotating my forearm like a screwdriver. Silly me. Mid life crisis. His description to reverse the action is working like a charm.

Over massaging is real common and can contribute to both immediate and chronic, long-term issues down the road so be sure to keep it to a minimum. The TP's you feel in the triceps may be a referred pain from the flexor or extensor muscle attachments on the medial or lateral epicondyle so you could be working on a phantom pain. Flextend actively stretches and exercises at the same time so that is why I recommend its use as it is very simple and you can eliminate a lot of the pre-stretching.

Wow, so glad I came across your video. Last Tuesday I was diagnosed with Radial Tunnel Syndrome 11 months after fracturing both my Ulna and my Radius in my left wrist. I did get a cortisone injection last week in the upper forearm. In the past, I have been diagnosed with tennis elbow in both arms and carpal tunnel in my left wrist back in 2007 with surgery. I am doing my own physical therapy at home. I am currently having trouble with the exercises with the side up. I am using a theraband looks like a big scarf.
@URehab
@URehab 5 лет назад
It's very difficult to maintain the same level of resistance across all of the fingers when using theraband (wide sheet type) as the hand has so many joints, vs. single joint exercises which theraband works best. Flextend-Restore allows for specific resistance and a full range-of-motion for all of the fingers, making it a much more precise device. ~URehab

@URehab Hi and thanks for getting back to me! When I first went to my primary care Dr. he said it was tendonitis or tennis elbow and told me to take Ibuprofen and ice it before and after playing drums or tennis. He also showed me stretches and told me to wrap a band around the arm near the elbow. None of that really worked so I did physical therapy which made it feel better but I only did 5 sessions and then it was up. I lived with it for another year but finally went to an orthopedic Dr.

@URehab PART-III It is critical to stretch the supinator muscle because it is the main source of dysfunction as it is overly tight, causing impingement of the radial nerve beneath it. It is equally important to exercise the wrist/forearm pronators and finger/ wrist extensors to help create balance and implement Reciprocal Inhibition which works on the principal that if one muscle group is contracted, its antagonist will relax, thus reducing compression of underlying nerves and blood vessels.
@URehab
@URehab 13 лет назад
@1launter PART-I It all depends on where and why the radial nerve is entrapped, and which division of the nerve, superficial or deep, is entrapped. If the nerve is adhered to surrounding soft-tissues or is growing through the muscle, which is a very low percentage of cases, then extension exercises would be contraindicated. If the nerve is entrapped because the extensors / supinator are in spasm due a constant tensile strain (most cases) imposed upon them from the stronger, tighter
@URehab
@URehab 14 лет назад
@URehab PARRT-II If you stretch the flexors passively and feel pain, then extend the hand/wrist actively and then continue stretching it passively. (Passively means that you stretch the hand/wrist with the opposing hand. Actively means that you are stretching the muscles under your own power by extending the hand/wrist backwards on your own) Only stretch through a range=-of-motion (ROM) that does not cause pain.
@URehab
@URehab 11 лет назад
PART-I Don't start questioning your sanity. I was real sick some20+ years ago and it took twelve doctors all telling me it was in my head, prescribing depression meds. One gave me lithium and pretty much told me I was insane! My symptoms were real. I gained 50lbs in 6-8 weeks, was vomiting every morning, shaking like I had low blood sugar and ALWAYS had the worst sensation of starving that I can't even describe it.
@URehab
@URehab 13 лет назад
@1launter PART-II finger and wrist flexors, then yes, you would want to strengthen the extensors. The increase in strength reduces the tensile strain on the extensors / supinator and help prevent spasm, but also reduce impingement of the radial nerve due to the contraction / relaxation (shortening / lengthening) of these muscles, as the segment that is being impinged by the muscle spasm relaxes in the contract / relax phase, thereby eliminating the compression of the radial nerve.
@URehab
@URehab 13 лет назад
@1launter PART-I Thank you for your response. You mentioned that you work at a keyboard. This is a palm-down position, using finger / wrist flexion against resistance, thereby increasing the strength and hypertonicity of the flexors. Although your wrists / forearms are pronated, you are not performing pronation against resistance. This is why I suggest extension (they are weak) and pronation (also weak) to help increase their strength and reduce muscle spasm from too much tensile

Because generally the top of my forearms to my wrist get tightened, weakened, and fatigued easily with paralsthesia at times when I do certain activities, such as daily computer use and even pushups will cause really bad pins and needles the next day. I need to find a way to get rid of all these Trigger points and any other method of helping my hands become healthier and stronger reducing as many symptoms as possible. Computers and exercise were/are a big part of my life.

hello dude, your grip was also very weak when u had that problem?
@URehab
@URehab 14 лет назад
@lboymusic Thanks for your comment, but that is not correct, you do not want to stretch muscles (extensors) that are already long and weak. Stretching the flexor muscle group is important because it reduces their hypertonicity and helps reduce the tensile strain (pulling / tugging) on the extensor group caused by the overly short, tight flexor muscle group.

Yes I did get an MRI. After that is that they said I had the "bruised bone". I don't know why it would be inflamed, but I do box. I started going to therapy and the therapist now says is lateral epicondylitis. But I don't quite feel the symptoms for that either (according to what I researched in the net). At this point I'm just following the therapist instructions and see where that leads me. I just she knows what she is doing.

Great, I'm glad you figured it out and got on the correct program!
@URehab
@URehab 12 лет назад
You need to be sure and rule out a more serious cause than a basic muscle imbalance and nerve impingement in the wrist, forearm, shoulder, etc. If the cervical MRI / Scan comes back negative for radial nerve impingement / neuropathy then we can look at things that can be done to start working on releasing the impingement elsewhere.
@URehab
@URehab 13 лет назад
@1launter PART-II strain imposed upon them from the finger / wrist extensors. I could see that by reason, if there is spasm in the supinator muscle that is compressing the radial nerve, then the supinator muscle should also be strengthened. So, extension / supination may be called for, in addition to extension / pronation. This is something I will have to implement and see. The rule always being that if it hurts while performing the action, don’t do it. Post-exercise soreness is fine.

It's just a common routine that many therapists follow. It's like they are drones. You go to multiple clinics and they have this set routine and seems to be the same, even for contrasting injuries. It just does not make sense. I would perform pure finger and wrist extension / finger abduction in only three planes: Palm-up, thumb-up and palm down with more emphasis on the palm down. Trying to keep your wrist in-line with your forearm will be hard as you will be very weak in this position.

Each individual Trigger Point should not be pressed on for more than 30-60 seconds up to 2x per day, 3-4 days per week, and works best if you have a professional do it as they know what sequence works best for a particular injury...plus self-massage is hard to do correctly. If there are numerous TP's in a small area it is even more important to follow this rule as it will only irritate the muscle(s) and possibly cause the exact opposite reaction, thereby making the muscle spasm even more.

Hi, I'm a drummer and I also like to play tennis but both activities have been hampered in the past few years. I originally was told that it was probably tennis elbow and was given stretches to do and also told to wear a band on my elbow and fore-arm but nothing seemed to work. Recently I went to a hand specialist and he suggested it was radiul tunnel syndrom. He also said he could perform surgery. I'm very concerned about this because I teach drums as my profession and I love to play(cont..)

Hi there, I'm having troubles receiving a diagnosis regarding pain in both lateral elbows. The doctors assumed it was tennis elbow, but I don't present with the typical signs. I don't have pain with resisted wrist extension or pronation and I don't find it particularly painful to press on the epicondyle. Sometimes it is mildly painful on the humeral ridge right above the epicondyle and sometimes when the extensors are irritated, it's sensitive 1 inch distal to the epicondyle in the tendon area. It's most painful to type for a long time, text, carry things for a while, but I have full muscle strength. When it first appeared, I had pain in the first phalanx of the thumb, but resting the arm helped rid that. When I use my arm too much (as in cook dinner), the muscle belly of the Extensor carpi radialis brevis (or longus?) often gets inflamed and achey and kind of desensitized/almost numb. I'm suspicious that maybe I have an issue with my radial nerve on both arms instead of tennis elbow.

Boxing is hard on the body. I tore two ligaments in my wrist while coaching MMA and I was just messing around and not being serious...which seems to be when you get injured, not when you're actually training hard. Anyway, keep me posted on your improvement. If you are not getting better in the next couple of months get back to me. Good luck!

Hi I have been benefiting from your videos regarding the cubital and radial nerves and I thank you for them I have been struggling for over 8-9 months now with what I initially though to be tennis elbow and I treated it as such for months with some progress initially, but that died off and I have been stuck for 3+ months. I have had cubital symptoms, (pinky and ring finger) in the past but have made that better by changing my habits, phone etc.)That spot on the forearm you pinpoint makes me totally think It is my radial nerve and not tennis elbow, at least not now. I don't have the glove but these stretches totally hit the spot and are doing some good. I hear a cracking when twisting to supination. Does not hurt but I figure this if just the nerve or a tendon sliding. Does this sound right to you? Trying not to take the plunge and go to a doctor if I can rehab this myself but am getting frustrated at times and have moments when I think I am fighting a losing battle and should go to Dr. It's been a long 9 months indeed

@URehab
@URehab 11 лет назад
You only feel pain, numbness in the ring and little fingers when the ulnar nerve is affected such as in cubital tunnel or guyon's syndrome as there are no nerve symptoms in the fingers from tennis elbow, only at the location of where the injury is. Radial tunnel affects the backsides of the fingertips (nails) on the thumb, index and middle fingers and sometimes one-half of the ring finger. The inflammation could be causing the pain, but the question is: Why is it inflamed? Did you have MRI?
@URehab
@URehab 12 лет назад
It does sound like radial nerve irritation and impingement. Cosmetologists have huge issues with RSI's, the reason a pair of ergonomic scissors in your industry can easily cost $400! See how things go for the next couple of weeks and reduce stress to that arm and try and not use it as much as possible. If you are still having radial nerve symptoms in a couple weeks, PM me and I'll give you an exercise routine for it.

Hi I received my order on the 16th after paying almost $70 import fee. Nice that you give 35 % off for customers in Denmark/Europe :-) Just to make my situation clear: I am a 68 year old female. Normally healthy despite having a pacemaker and having been hit by a car on my knees two years ago - in low speed but still. I have been working out regularly since about 1980 - at some times quite extreme - lately not enough for different reasons. I have been diagnosed with: IMPINGEMENT or ENTRAPMENT NERVUS SUPRASCAPULARIS Bursitis in bursae subacromiale Radial Tunnel Syndrome Cervical spondylosis in my neck. Collapse between to vertebraes. So now I want to get started using the glove, but where to start? I have so much pain in my right arm - from shoulder to back hand and fingers. I experience pain while twisting my wrist, turning my peppergrinder, brushing my hair, brushing my teeth, lifting a cup of coffee, and much more. My shoulder cracks during the night as if the joint pops out while sleeping on the side. It even happened while I was driving my car as I reached for the steering wheel. BUT! I have no problem lifting my 24 kg kettlebell or pulling down 30 kg on my home gym tower. However. I am afraid of training in fear of making my problems worse. But that has resulted in me getting weaker, which I hate! The pain is situated mostly on the upper side of my lower arm but also goes further up to the over arm and down to the back of my hand by the wrist. I do not get pain while lifting my middle finger when resting my arm on a table so I guess that leaves out some diagnoses. The problem seems to be starting on my left arm as well - mildly. And my shoulder and neck give me a lot of pain on and off. After watching several of your videos on RU-vid I have a problem understanding the many medical terms both in writing and on the videos, and I am afraid of making some of my pains worse by using the wrong exercises since they are complex. I have tried the ones for Radial Tunnel Syndrome but my muscles got really tired fast and now I am sore - especially after typing all this :-) Can I get some help on which exercises I need to start with or which I can combine to heal more areas at the same time.

To get rid of Trigger Points, they need to be released via TP therapy, stretches and/or exercises. The problem with stretching is that people are often stretching the wrong muscles and/or they stretch too much and irritate it further. Plus when they stretch the muscle, the "contracted" areas may stay contracted/in spasm and so they are only overstretching the segments that are NOT in spasm as they are the only areas that will provide any "give". Stretch no more than 10-minutes a day.
@URehab
@URehab 14 лет назад
@URehab PART-IV If you want to avoid stretching the flexors, that is up to you, but it is important to stretch the supinator group. If you have more in-depth questions, please contact me privately as it is difficult to provide sufficient answers in this manner. Thanks!
@URehab
@URehab 11 лет назад
I would actually have to see it and palpate it to know what is going on. If there is limited ROM yet the MRI and other tests did not show anything inhibiting motion, then it would have to be an issue with a specific muscle or muscles / tendon(s) not relaxing to straighten the arm and not contracting adequately enough to shorten/flex the arm through a proper range.

PART-V In any case, find a good Clinical Physical Therapist, Clinical or Sports Massage Therapist or Sports Medicine doctor or Kinesiologist and have the manual tests performed as they are true "functional" tests and I believe them to be more accurate although the medical industry standard s are "Mechanical" testing. Good luck and keep at it, the answer will come. Be sure to keep us posted.

If you're in the palm-down position and the pain is on top of the forearm and affects the "backs" of any of the following fingers: thumb, index, middle and sometimes one-half of the ring finger (They don't all have to be affected simultaneously), then you may have Radial Tunnel Syndrome. Get it checked out by your doctor so that you know what it is so you can treat it properly...and be sure to use conservative therapy FIRST unless it is really far along and there is already nerve damage.

Is swimming a good therapy for severe radial tunnel syndrome? I have been suffering for nearly 10 months. Diagnosed with tendonitis, given exercises and pain killers. Exercises didn't help, painkillers relieved pain temporarily, but made me nauseous. Been doing acupuncture weekly for 8 months. After 1 week able to give up pain killers and use only aleve, when severe. My arm continues to throb and hurt daily, worst at night. Been swimming and need to know what arm movements would be best to help my condition. Right now, my arm hurts more when I'm finished doing 60-90 minutes of laps.

@URehab
@URehab 9 лет назад
Improper form and not warming up could certainly lead to a repetitive strain injury. Often times the pain in the top of the forearms is Tennis Elbow, but the strain is a couple of inches below the elbow joint where the muscles meets the tendon, and it is miserable! Tennis Elbow, as most people think of it, is located on the lateral epicondyle of the elbow joint where the tendon meets/connects to the bone, but to be honest, most issues arise where the tendon and muscle meet, and this entire part of the forearm MUST be strengthened in order to rehabilitate it and also to prevent it from coming back in the future. The condition(s) of Tennis Elbow that I describe is more common the Radial Tunnel as Radial Tunnel symptoms cause numbness in the backs of the thumb, index and middle fingers, and is most noticeable where the fingernails are located. What exactly are all of your symptoms? The rubberband cannot perform anywhere near the appropriate exercises that you need to perform in order to get complete relief of your symptoms. The "glove" (Flextend) is MUCH better and allows you to perform A LOT of different exercises with full routines laid out week-by-week. Here is a list of some of the 12-week routines: flextend.com/HealthcareProf/FLEXTEND_EXERCISE_PROGRAMS.pdf And here is the main page with all instruction manuals: www.flextend.com/CD Good Luck!
@URehab
@URehab 11 лет назад
It sounds more like Tennis Elbow and the supinator is weak along with the extensors as they are both involved. This condition can be terrible painful, and your micro-tears don't sound like they are on the lateral epicondyle but instead at the musculotendinous junction, two inches or so down on the top of the forearm where the supinator is located as well, and that is the most likely location people suffer from this condition. You need to perform the Tennis Elbow program. Do you have it?

if you have time to reply. National health service ignored me. I have had this snowballing problem for 9 months. I believe I got this from using the rowing machine extensively, using both an underhand and overhand grip. From never using the rowing machine to going hard everyday. Then I reckon I made it worse by practicing the kettle bell snatch a lot. Followed by banging my supinator muscle whilst running, really hard running on a post in the street coz since that night it's not just forearm and pain around the elbow where the radial nerve runs but also up into the tricep and shoulder as well as in the night & 1st thing in morning cramping in thumb and next to fingers, pins and needles in the hand, some swelling in fingers there and not being able to move it well for like 20 mins until I get up and move around. Your opinion would be appreciated, have started your rehab movements already.thanks for that

Also, place your hand/arm in a palm-down position on a table in front of you and presd/massage 1-3 inches below the top of the elbow joint into the meaty group of muscle tissue (Brachioradialis, extensor digitorum, supinator, etc.), can you find areas that are severly painful? Does it hurt to shake hands or pick up grocery bags, briefcase, etc.?

Are the burning and tingling sensations in the whole hand or just specific fingers? If it is in specific fingers, please tell me which fingers on each hand. If your hands were placed "palm-down" on a table, which side of the forearm gets the throbbing pain? Is the pain on the top or underneath the forearm? Also, how far down from the elbow?
@URehab

Is it the pain or pulling sensation that limits the range-of-motion of the elbow or is it because it cannot actually move past these positions?

Sorry about the long message: I have been limiting my gigging but would like to get back to it. Would you reccomend surgury? Does it really only take about 3 weeks to fully recover? Do you reccomend that glove in the video? If yes; what is it called and where do I get it? I'm in the Boston are so if you know anyone that I can consult with I really appreciate it. Again this is not only my profession but a life long love and hobby. Thanks, Steve.

Id say 2 inches down from elbows- top side of forearms, if i poke it there it feels like im pushing a bruise. As for my hands it always varies, my wrists always feel soar and sprained an my hands get cramped bad if i overuse them. For awhile my thumbtip and middle finger tips were going numb untill i stopped working, now its mainly really bad deep throbbing in my forearms when i do anything physical- they think radial tunnel and at this point i just wanna know.

Any exercises you have for me? I had a spiral fracture in lower 3rd of humerus 10 yrs ago. 8" Plate was put in due to the displacement. Looking back I had some signs of nerve disruption. I'm feeling pain in bicep into armpit, lower exterior bicep next to tricep, into forearm, into thumb and pointer finger? I work out. I can push through pain and pain goes away and tingling comes in its place. After I finish pain returns. I've had pain last 10 years but feels worse now although this is the strongest I've been since injury. Trying to go conservative route to alleviate this prior to plate removal which I'm told could trigger radial palsy as it is hard to find nerve especially with scar tissue.

Train consistently, as lease 4-days per week, and for no more than 45 minutes. My workouts are intense and last only 25 minutes, then I walk on the treadmill between 12 and 25 minutes post workout. Most people workout too long, ranging from 1-2 hours, making it impossible to recover before the next workout. Once you have negative nitrogen, you are in a hole and can't get out of it. I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with me. The top of my forearm closest to the elbow definitely feels bunched up and shortened, and often is tender or aching. I get a kind of burning irritation throughout the back of my hand and wrist, but also have pain on the bottom side of my arm about 2-3 inches below the wrist. My flexibility in my wrist is definitely limited, basically holding my arm straight out with hand extended in any direction causes a stretching sensation. The actual "pain" does tend to be concentrated in the hand and wrist, but my entire upper body is very tight, including chest, shoulder, neck, forearm, and wrist. I don't really feel numbness or tingling as if something is asleep... more like irritation and pain associated with inflammation. I have been told burning feeling is nerve pain, and it does feel like it burns across the back of my hand. I'm on the computer the vast majority of my time though I am trying to use good ergonomic practice. Any suggestions, deductions, or familiar anecdotes would help!

@urehab I've been having this chronic soreness/pain/tightness in my left forearm for quite some time now. Its kind of like a sore muscle but feels deeper. My range of motion has not really been affected and my strength has only been somewhat diminished. I can handle the pain easily, but its getting really annoying. My regular doctor hasn't been much help. I think it might be tendinosis? Are there any exercises you can recommend? Thanks

Is the forearm/hand in a pronated palm-down position or supinated palm-up position? I know you say palm forward and to me that is palm-down, but I want to be sure we are on the same page. Thanks!

You are right, it is probably coming back and of course build-up of scar-tissue can really add to the equation. Here is a Channel Post from the other day giving you 40% off the glove I am using in the video. It's only good until the 15th of this month but a huge savings! Here is the Code: YTS711 which can be used at flextend (.com). Great thread and video. Am excited to start your stretches and get glove ordered. My pain is top of forearm few inches down from elbow with stingy and torn feeling. No problems with elbow. I have lots of numbness in hands which makes me unsure if it is RTS. It feels like my supinator muscle is shrinking . My fam doc diagnosed as tennis elbow, but not sure how positive he it. Have upcomming apt with neurologist. Trouble gripping, pinching, trwisting. shovelling makes it worse. main trauma was from intense wood plaining I have started taking p5p which is suppose to cure carpel tunnel, and not sure if i am waisting my time if it is RTS. I started alpha-lipoic acid as an inti-inflamitory. Any guidance on if this can be RTS? and can RTS be combined with numbness? I want to make sure i do correct streches. Thanks for your time :)

Many people with Tennis Elbow (TE) are misdiagnosed with Radial Tunnel Syndrome (RTS), but the pain located 1-3 inches below the lateral epicondyle in the brachioradialis insertion point and the origination of the extensor muscles, is where MOST people have Tennis Elbow symptoms. Healthcare professionals always go right to the lateral epicondyle, and if the bony prominence is not the most symptomatic region, and the pain is in the muscles below, they call it RTS, when in fact, most TE cases have most pain at the musculotendinous junction in that 1-3 inch range below the lateral epicondyle where the muscle and tendon form.With TE, the activities you explained above will cause these symptoms. The supinator, which is involved in both of these conditions, is the main culprit in compressing the radial nerve and reflecting RTS symptoms. But both can be addressed with Flextend-Restore. And although most will say there is no numbness tingling with RTS, many cases in the clinic were shown to have a numbness sensation in the base of the fingernails in the first 3-fingers. Good Luck, God Bless and keep me posted!~URehab #RTS#RadialTunnel#RadialTunnelSyndrome

First of all, Thank you for the video. More than a year ago I started having some of this symptoms. On May 2011 the diagnosed me with radial bone head edema. I gave it rest going on or of the gym but the pain persisted. About two weeks ago I went to another doctor and he told me I Radial Tunnel Syndrome. I am taking Ibuprofen but the no relieve yet. My main question now is, could it be tennis elbow since I never felt numbness or pain on my fingers?

UREHAB: I have RTS plus I have bone spurs all over and around my right elbow. I've been doing physical therapy at home for about a month but still can't even lift a small plate of food or glass of water. Things were getting better until three or four days ago and WHAM! right back to the beginning like I never did PT at all. One doc says I should get cortisone shots in my elbow. What do you think?

Hi I wonder if you can help advise anything I can try for a pain that feel in the very centre of the inside of my elbow. The pain is a dull ache when it's triggered by repetitive strain on the arm through activities such as ladder climbing, than the bicep directly when lifting something heavy. It was triggered through repeated pole climbs and ladder lifting, and although its much less painful now, it's never truly gone. Flexing the bicep doesn't cause pain unless my wrist rotates to palm fwd

It is best to eliminate the gripping due to the simultaneous contraction of the flexors (static/non-moving) and the extensors (dynamic/with movement) can cause further compression of the radial nerve, which is why I prefer using Flextend-Restore to perform pure full-motion extension exercises with motion at all joints and angles, including radial and ulnar deviation, pronation and supination, etc.But, if you feel better, then it may be just fine as it may have not been enough compression between the contrasting muscle groups to impinge the nerve further. Thanks for liking the video and keep me posted on your progress!Good Luck and God Bless!

Could you be more specific as to the exact location in the forearm where you are feeling this deep pain? If your arm is palm-down on the table is the pain on the top of the forearm? Or, if your arm is palm-up on the table is it on top of that area of the forearm? Maybe take a picture of your arm, mark the area and email it to me. PM me so I can provide my email address to you.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been off my channel the past year due to cancer but I'm doing better and have the energy to answer people at the moment. I am in Oregon...and thank you for the kind words, I appreciate it! After 25-years in the medical industry, I've become disheartened at the lack of care and empathy for the sick and injured. It's all about money...not anyone's health. (Mostly referring to mainstream medical.) BUT, find a good Massage Therapist, Chiropractor, Naturopathic Doctor, etc., and you can get tremendous results and be cared for at the same time. If you ever have any injuries, feel free to contact me and I would be glad to help you! Good luck and God bless! ~URehab

So I've been to 3 doctors and had CT scans and x-rays and they all say nothing is wrong. Obviously something is wrong with my elbow because I can't straighten my right elbow, nor can I bend it past 45 degrees without it feeling like something is being pulled. Often times when my elbow hurts, I can massage my posterior ligament and it will feel a little better. Do you have any idea what it could be?

PART-II It wasn't until my girlfriend was studying books trying to find out what was wrong that I made any progress. She told them to check my testosterone levels and BAM, she was right, it was non-existent. For men, that is their only source of burning fat, plus low testosterone causes hypoglycemia, so I was constantly eating to try and stop the insane starving feeling I had but my body could not burn the calories due to low testosterone, which in turn filled my liver full of fat...

I have a few questions here. I don't have the flextend yet (I'm broke atm) but plan to buy one. In the mean time I've been using a tennis ball to massage the tender trigger points in my arms over the past few weeks and it's now getting to the point that a tennis ball is no longer precise for the more hidden spots I have in my arms. What can I do to help get rid of these TP's without using my arms, taxing the same muscles I'm trying to get better? And will any of these stretches worsen the TP's?

Five years ago, I was diagnosed with RadIal Nerve Entrapment in my forearm. I had cortisone, physical therapy and finally surgery. While it feels better, I cannot perform any type of exercise that causes me to bend the elbow such as push ups, bench presses or even the eliptical machine. When I try these exercises, after a few days, the pain in my forearm returns. It's been depressing since I can no longer work out. Do you have any suggestions that will help me get back to the gym? Thanks.
@URehab
@URehab 7 лет назад
So you went through the steps that make sense, but you are still feeling symptoms that limit your function. This could mean a misdiagnosis which is common as Tennis Elbow is often diagnosed as Radial Tunnel Syndrome. This occurs because they are looking for "classic" Tennis Elbow symptoms which originate on the lateral epicondyle and do not recognize that the musculotendinous junction (where the extensor tendons and muscles connect), is a site where Tennis Elbow symptoms originate in equal numbers to the "classic" location. (The location of pain is usually 1-3 inches below the elbow in the "meat" of the top of the extensor group.) Because doctors do not address soft-tissue / musculoskeletal conditions on a regular basis, they do not realize that there are TWO locations for Tennis Elbow. Tell me what your previous symptoms were when you were diagnosed and what the symptoms are now.Good Luck and God Bess.URehab

Thank you for your response. The symptoms were pain on the forearm (about two inches from the elbow) that radiates down to my thumb, index finger and sometimes middle finger. My fingers would have a tingling sensation. The area on my forearm where the pain originated would sometimes feel hard. I have the same exact symptoms now. It bothers me most when I use a mouse a lot, type or if I try to do exercises that require pressure on the forearm. The level of pain can vary. Sometimes just my forearm will bother me while other times I just have tingling into my fingers.
@URehab
@URehab 7 лет назад
Is the tingling more on the front or backs of the fingers? Does it go to the fingernail region? I wonder if you have Tennis Elbow and Carpal Tunnel or Combined Tennis Elbow and Radial Tunnel. Those two questions above will help me out.Sorry for late reply, I missed a bunch of questions last month.
@JJL-1962
@JJL-1962 7 лет назад
The tingling is on the back of the fingers and can go to the top of the finger. It's not bothering me much now as I haven't performed any repetitive activities involving the forearm or elbow. A few weeks ago I took some golf lessons and noticed some pain the next day. I've also noticed the the muscle in the area where I had surgery can become hard. I'm not sure why. Thanks again for your help.
@URehab

Did you have any post-surgery massage or physical therapy to reduce scar-tissue development over the radial nerve? Often times the scar-tissue accumulates around the nerve post-surgery and the condition comes right back.
