If I didn't try it I would not have believed it. I have been suffering with this for 7 or 8 years. And had given up playing guitar for almost 2 years. As you noted, I will exercise cautiously meaning too breaking myself into it slowly. I wanted to tell you I did all your exercises as described stopping the video between each stretch and resting approximately 10 seconds between reps. and completed the exercises. I also have a wrist brace and use it. I "Subscribed", "Clicked the Bell" and chose "All" to get your Videos. Thank you, for freeing me from this pain. I will continue to use these exercises 2 or 3 times a Week and when it flairs up again.
thanks much! 2 years suffering, diabetic and a fused cervical spine (ankylosing spondylitis) just 10 minutes following your exercise routine produced instant relief!
I am a student and I work so I am always on my computer. The pain in my wrist and hands got so bad I went on RU-vid and typed stretches for carpal tunnel I am so happy you made this video you are a God send. Thank you thank you for freeing me from the dreadful aches I used to feel!!!!!!!!!!
BIG THANKS to you, i felt relief to my CTS immediately after doing your exercises. Subscribed your channel and will continue to tune in...Recently diagnosed moderately severe CTS and my doctor recommended surgery but opted to try non surgical treatment first and if there is no improvements then last option would be surgery. He started giving me steroid injection to my middle finger and another one after a week to my index finger, he referred me to PT and will reassess my CTS after 12 sessions of PT or 3 times a week for 4 weeks. I hope and pray together with your exercises my CTS will completely healed.
Thank you so much for helping us how to exercise correctly. I'm experience right now with numbness of my fingers, through your videos taught to us, and I'll do it as my remedy. Thank you so much. God bless you.
Thank you Dr. Jared, you helped me 1 year ago with my torn knee and now these exercises for the carpal tunnel.. I tell everyone about your website when they have any issues.. please keep guiding us. God bless
Thanks a million sir....i work in a restaurant my hands dont stop working 10 hrs straight and ive developed this from my elbow now on my front and back palms
Hello Dr Beckstrand, I'd like to take a few minutes to tell you how much I appreciate your videos. I always check your channel first when I have a problem or pain somewhere and your exercises work every single time. It's wonderful and I thank you for it.
These exercises made a profoundly positive impact in just ONE go - thank-you!!!! Update - honestly - I can't get over it - it's like I have a brand new hand, wrist and forearm!!!!! Craziness - thank-you soooo much!!!!
THANKS BUDDY I HAVE CARPEL TUNNEL SURGERY N OLNAR SURGERY COMING UP IN A COUPLE WEEKS ON THE RIGHT ARM N THEN THE SAME SURGERY ON THE LEFT ARM, HOPEFULLY ILL PROGRESS N GET A LITTLE BETTER!!! WE WILL SEE......
I’m sooooo glad that I found you!! It’s strange because it’s my left hand that’s flared up terribly & I’m right handed. I have no idea as to what I could’ve done to cause this inflammation. My fingers are completely numb, causing me to drop things & have difficulty picking up objects. I’ve been wearing my brace 24/7 but no relief. This has been going on for about 3 wks. I did all of your exercises & definitely feel a difference. Kinda feels like my blood flow increased. It feels good but still tingling & numb. Do you think it’ll improve over the next few days of doing these exercises? Or should I see my doc fairly soon?
Thank you so much this was so good ,I felt so better ❤️. After these But this is first time I felt tingling situation But it's not completely gone What am I supposed to do so that it goes away completely
While I have not been diagnosed with carpal tunnel, I am a dental hygiene student and I think I had a death grip during insrumenting 2 weeks ago. Ever since that day, the pad on my thumb is numb. No tingling or burning. Would I benefit from these exercises?
Do you have any exercises for post carpal Tunnel surgery? I am 3 months post on right and 3 weeks on left put have really stiff fingers that are painful despite doing exercises
Hi, I have what feel like electricity in my right hand just below my thumb & it is swollen. Don't know for sure if that is Carpal Tunnel. I have no numbness.
Omfg the pain i had before this video. 17 years I have been suffering and this man helps me in a few minutes feel less pain while sober then I have in years. Im crying literally. Thank you sir. It statred out extremely painful and alot of cracks in my wrist but now 90% of the pain I had is gone.
After lifting at the gym a year ago, I have been living and dealing with damaged tendons and nerves in my right hand. Explained this to a doctor and was told “nothing I can do but wait for the pain to go away on its own”. Today, I started doing these exercises and I’m already feeling relief. Thank you sir! Great video
i have been going to gym for the past 3 years i have not come up with this pain in 2 years of lifting but now since its been 3 years i have been having multiple problems like nerve pinch and i just started randomly having this before and on my rest day and yesterday knowing that i have an issue i did biceps and back i didnt have problems instantly but when i was sleeping in the middle of the night i woke up where my right shoulder was going a bit numb and rotated it and it went away after that and slept, then since morning i have been having several pinches on my right arm more pain on the biceps, i know there is no problem on the bicep muscle but its the nerve and it feels as so that my biceps is going to pop out and now i feel pinches on my shoulder and right neck area as well if there are any solutions or exercises please let me know
Be sure to check out the FOLLOW-ALONG version of these exercises with this all-new video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tH0AuoLAJBg.html ! Did you try the exercises in this video? What did you think? Comment your experience below, let me know. Hope those help and thanks so much for watching! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Hey Jared! Thanks for the great tips, how many times a day should I perform these exercises ideally? And should the brace be worn throughout the day or only during the night?
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I’ve been suffering with carpal tunnel symptoms for months and have been desperately searching for relief without going the surgical route. I have tried so many things without much success. These exercises have already helped more than anything! I appreciate you and your videos!
When I was 15 years old my arm/wrist was broken at high school football practice. The local doctor and my coach set my arm without x-rays to guide them. Consequently I have a 15° offset both up and in on my wrist. It has been a blessing and a curse. The offset allowed me to remove the oil filter on my "92 Civic without lifting the car and removing it from below. Yet occasionally when sleeping my wrist would hurt from not being able to lay flat. Though I am over 65 years old, I am extremely active. 2 weeks ago I started noticing continual numbing and pain. Figuring it was one of the pains from the break I have lived with, I blew it off. Today the numbness interfered with helping my wife can green beans. I found your site and followed you doing the exercises through the video. Before your video finished I was enjoying 75% less pain. In past I have used 2.5" to 3" stainless steel ball bearings rotating 3 at one time in my hand forward and backward. This always took care of the problem if I felt twinges. They are currently in storage and unavailable. With your exercises I don't worry about dropping a steel ball and breaking my foot, toes or the floor. Thank you!
Just doing a quick run through while you explain the stretches has amazing results. I've been scared ever since I developed CT because nothing has been working and i don't want to lose my hands but this video has given me hope I can have some what normal days
The origin of the carpal tunnel syndrome is not in the wrist but in the spine. More specific in the area between the 6th cervical and the 1st thoracic vertebrae and is caused by spinal misalignment which causes an irritation on the nerves that lead to this problem. Also T3, 4 and 6 need to be worked on as their misalignment affects the position of the ribs connecting to these vertebraes which in turn will change the position of the shoulder blade that lies on top of them and thus changes the tension in the arm muscles that attach to the shoulder blade. The carpal tunnel syndrome itself is not the origin, it is the symptom and as such working on the wrist will not solve it. A qualified osteopath should be able to fix this in (average) 3 sessions.
@@swait239 sorry, no it will not work. The problem sits between the shoulder blades and also in the lower neck. Go and see your local osteopath. I am an osteopath and have been dealing with these symptoms for nearly 30 years. But you may find some relief in treating your own wrist by massaging it. Anything that you believe that it will help you, will help you.
I agree that it comes from around the area you described. I have horrible pain that wakes me up at night and if i hold my arm in certain position, like L shape close to the body, pain immediately disappears. It's only comfortable for me if i sleep on a side of that arm. If i turn any other way my thumb and entire hand instantly burns in pain
@@swait239 indeed. Seach for an image of your ribcage for better understanding. The ribs connect to the vertebreas in the back and in the front to the chestbone. It forms sort of a circle. If one or more of the vertebreas between the shoulderblades gets blocked (and this happens a lot, mainly in T2,T3, T4 and T6, it will change the position of the ribs. The rib on one side is being pushed forwards and the opposite side is being pushed backwards. The shoulder blade lies on top of the ribs. So if the ribs change position, this will affect the position of the shoulder blade and thus change the tension in the muscles connecting to it. This will also cause that the coraciod processus, which is part of the shoulderblade, also moves backward. Since the shorter head of the biceps connects there, this in turn will the upper arm (humerus) inward and change its position relative to the acromial joint (collarbone-shoulderblade. This is quite a complicated thing. If you have no anatomical knowledge, I recommend to search some videos on YTube. Also the nerves in the lower part of the neck can be involved.
First of all, the diagram at the beginning of your video was most explicit. It helped me understand what’s hurting me. Secondly, your exercises were spot on. After searching and suffering for months, I found your video.
Just experiencing carpal tunnel and I tried the exercises. My fingers instantly became numb doing each of the exercises. Going to keep trying them and hopefully it gets better.
Thank you! Over the past few months my hands have been losing feeling when my wrists are bent for too long and that was a big warning signal. Last year one of my hands was partially numb for weeks, it was scary. These exercises made me feel relief, I plan on doing them regularly.
So glad I found this! Felt fingers numbing while doing some of these exercises and wonder if it's OK. Also wonder if you have any videos that talk about how to relieve lower arm muscle pain - also caused by typing/mouse use. Thank you so much for your help!!
I’m about a month away from carpal and cubital tunnel surgery but the pain has been so bad that it’s been effecting my ability to sleep. These exercises have made the pain and irritation tolerable enough to sleep. I prayed for relief and your video came up! Thank-you! ❤️
@@ayeshaawais5192 not from the exercises. I had the surgery but do still have swelling at the base of my left thumb. Had that before the surgery too. At my follow up they said it was arthritis and could be treated separately. I’ll see about a cortisone shot at my next follow up.
This video was amazing information I've been having carpal tunnel symptoms for a few weeks since I started training for climbing more frequently. This is a an excellent exercise routine to get my muscles and ligaments warmed up in my wrist and hands thank you.
Great video, and really good exercises. I’ve used a mini grinder, used a trowel etc and more tools for over two decades. I’ll be definitely using these exercises regularly. Carpal tunnel surgery I’ve heard is not recommended because sometimes it gets worse or you may not be able to lift a glass of water after healing. This is one case I heard.
Thank you for this. Good to hv a variety of exercises for CT. I had Carpal Tunnel out of the blue a couple of years back and started doing exercises for it. I still do some of them after doing yoga esp when it involves hand/wrist based asanas. My wrists thank me for taking care of them 😅🤗 Thank you again 🙏🏼
Oh I'm glad you've been able to work your way out of it with the right exercises, Emms! I hope these things I share continue to help you make improvement. Thanks for your comment and support!
@@shipragupta2445 Hi Shipra, i didn't have splints. The specialist gave me an injection, essentially a pain killer and said that that's all she could do unless i wanted an operation which i didn't. DuH!!😅 The hand/wrist exercises aimed at CT syndrome is what helped me :)))
As a personal trainer I was so impressed with your video and these exercises actually worked very quickly to relieve some of the issues! I will purchase one of the supports as I am on the computer a lot these days. Thanks so much, excellent video!
I have used many of your stretches exercises, and all have been great. Today my carpal tunnel hurt me, and I see you have posted a video for carpal tunnel syndrome. I immediately started the excess and found rapid relief. There is no doubt that You're my lifesaver. 😇 Thank you 🙏
Thank you soooo much for your help. This feels really good🙏🏽🙏🏽 The pain in my hand is getting worse each night. From waking up once or twice in the evening to 4-5times 😭 I will do these excercises NOW!! Hope to sleep well tonight🙏🏽🙏🏽😴 Muchas gracias 🙏🏽
I have carpal tunnel due to pregnancy and the pain is excruciating!! It has been keeping me up all night the last few nights. I've been doing these stretches in the am and before bed and they have been helping so much! Thank you!!
I just started knitting again after 10+ years, and after a couple of days, I couldn't knit more than a couple of rows without numbness and tingling settling in. Your stretches and exercises help a lot. Would icing be beneficial as well?
I’ve had the pain, burning and tingling from C T S off and on for months. I wake up in the morning and could barely make a fist and the pain was terrible. I just did the exercises you spoke to and the symptoms have dramatically dissipated. I will keep doing these exercises and hope to have total relief eventually. Thank you so much for sharing this knowledge.
Awesome, Jessica! Such a great thing to spread awareness about - not many people realize non-surgical options exist and that a lot of times they can be even more effective. 🙌🏼
This is an amazing video, very informative, and clear. The exercises and very well explained and best of all effective. Thanks for taking the time of helping us who suffer from carpal tunnel symptoms.
I have a thumb brace and a wrist brace already.. to be honest nothing helps.. I tried ur exercises for the past wk.. if anything.. it hurts more the next day at work.. n I can’t work as hard cuz now my hand hurts way more.. and I use these hands every day for work… how long does it take to feel better?? Nothing is working.. braces.. exercises.. nothing.. I been using my hand thumb the past 10 yrs to open bags n grab small boxes at ups in small sort .. but it hurts so much now I can’t even make a punch or grab the bottom of the bags to dump them.. like I’m in serious pain..
I feel your pain. What helped me were warming creams during night, warming bottle so my hands rested on it and warming during the night, in the morning I did exercises like these so muscles were warmed up for work. And honestly, be gentle to your hands. I've noticed that I use too much power during working, too extensive movement. When I realized that I was able to control movement and somehow I started to save my hands and it didn't hurts so much. And omega 3 for inflammation.
Thanks, my wrists are thrashed one broken reccovery the other mouse and other irritated--prev break. I feel so much deficit in the right one, the one that was broken recently L has a carpal release. maybe a little neck nerve in the right one too.
My arm feels worse than when I started which is cool and all, but my real issue is this deep sort of pain in between my thumb and index finger on the palm side that sorta radiates/extends close to my palm but not quite, though it kinda feels deep enough that it's almost "accessible" from the outside of my hand. None of the stretches or exercises I've seen on a few videos hit that spot and it kinda sucks.
Have this problem 18 years ago and I've tried all the stretches i know along with walking to keep the blood circulation good but still been affected by it in my daily life. First time seeing all of these stretches and immediately starts feeling some reliefs. Thank you been following for years.
I have carpal tunnel in both wrists. I have worn the braces at night for years and I felt that helped so I haven't had any symptoms. A few months ago, I was diagnosed with RA as well as PMR. I feel the PMR has triggered my carpal tunnel so much so that I can't make a closed fist and my hands hurt as well as being limited on what activities I can perform. I'm currently on Prednisolone, but I feel I will be taken off that soon. Are there any additional exercises that you can suggest or still use the ones in your video? I just came across your video.
Hello, I'm Giulia! Thank you very much for the video, from today I subscribed and started the exercises recommended by you, I hope I'll recover because I'm scared. After a required effort at work, I arrived home with crooked fingers on my right hand, numb, and without the strength to coordinate the usual movements. Also, I will look for a doctor, but I don't know what specialty my problem falls under, please, can you guide me? Thank you... if anyone knows... I'm so scared that I won't come back.😔
Thank you very much for the answer! because I treated it as an emergency, I went to the doctor and immediately entered medical recovery, on this occasion I also discovered other cervical problems. This video helped me enormously, and my physiotherapist confirmed exactly what said Dr. Jared here in the video🤗 After 3 days, I already feel recovered, the position of the fingers is back to normal, the coordination is the same, now I'm working with exercises. Thank you!
Is there any different excercises if you're experiencing numbness without pain in the pinky finger? The numbness extends a little further down my hand as well on the right side of my hand.
I have had numbness in middle and index finger for the last 2 months i believe it to be from too much gaming using the keyboard. I have bought a wrist splint and wore it for 3 weeks but not had any improvement should i continue to wear it how long does it need to be worn and does it actually do anything. i have a proper splint with the metal piece along the wrist.
i suddenly, for the first time ever, felt this INSANE BURNING SENSATION in my left hand fingers, all except the thumb. i was cooking, chopping onions, green chillies and i felt some burns and i thought may be it was a small cut in the fingers. it was small at first, so i thought so. Now four of those fingers, above the topmost joint, are BURNING, and no they were NOT exposed to fire. Very irritating and painful. Searching on the internet brought me here, but so far the exercises haven't helped. I have a bowl of water with me and dipping the fingers in the water is the only temporary fix i have. Pls help if u recognize what i'm going thru. Otherwise still a good video, based on other comments it seems helpful, i'm probably the unlucky one.
Hi - I really appreciate your knowledge and generosity to share as a gift. As I do these, why I’m doing them is my hands are experiencing INTENSE pins and needles sensation - through mid-arm, elbow joints are as inflamed? Any thoughts, kind sir? Tremendous thanks - it’s been really really rough going
