I remember pulling a Rincan AM/SW radio out of someone's trash and hearing the Watergate scandal covered by BBC World Service and the whatever Radio Moscow had to say in those days. I don't know what's left on SW these days, but I miss the excitement of hearing a signal that has traveled that far.
@@pcno2832 There’s a lot of cool stuff you can still hear on SW! There’s plenty of international broadcasters but still be prepared for a ton of bible thumpers. But you’ll hear a lot of pirates between 6900-7000khz and numbers stations too. Radio Havana Cuba has some great jazz programs and R. Romania has a booming signal and one of the few remaining eastern european broadcasters left.
Radio Luxembourg used 49.26m 6090 kHz SW with a 360 degree omnidirectional beam from a four mast array at RTL Centre D'Emision Junglinster Luxembourg with 500 kW power. It was designed for European reception, but little did radio Luxembourg know, that it actually got out to many places around the world.
