I found a pair of these speakers yesterday at a 80 year old woman's garage sale....for $5! They look brand new. I removed the grills and the surrounds and cone material look great. I plan on hooking them up to my vintage Carver receiver, Techniques turntable and Sony CD player.
The listed frequency response for the original Nova 7B’s was 30Hz to 20Khz. I had a original pair in late 1978. Great Speakers. I loved them. I used a 55 watt per channel Technics Intergrated amp and tuner, Technics turntable and a Technics cassette deck. To this day it’s still the best sounding setup I’ve had. And I have over 15 grand invested in my two different systems I have today. My God I miss my vintage setup. I did have remove the original speaker grills on the Nova 7B’s and use a different material. Because the plastic original grills vibrated and made buzzing sound. But I fixed that with the material change.
That's great! Sorry, it sounds like you don't have it anymore. My son is using these with a vintage amp, tuner, and turntable and it sounds great! Thanks for watching!
@@LifewithDavid1 Yeah. I don’t have it anymore. I used to buy a new Album. And I would immediately record it on my cassette deck with high quality TDK recordable cassette tape. That kept the album in great condition. And I just loved the sound I could get from the cassette deck by doing this. I got good clarity. With tight more powerful bass response. It was simply Magic as far as I was concerned. My digital stuff now days can’t touch it. In my opinion.
Thanks David, I found your channel because I got a pair of these speakers recently. Thank you for your great how-to videos. I really enjoy them even if I am not doing a similar project I always learn something neat. Please keep posting great videos.
I just bought a pair that is in sad shape for 30 bucks I don't even know if they work. I will open the up this week and see how they are inside hopefully they are not torn or worse.
@@LifewithDavid1They are in good condition. I just finished restoring the cabinets. I need to buy the capacitors though. I ordered some but they are polarized☹️
I'm not sure. Back in day, 50 watts was a huge amount of power. These are very efficient speakers. If you are using a vintage 50 watt per channel amp, I would be concerned that you could blow a voice coil.
@@LifewithDavid1 I will let you know what I discover once I open them up. I was debating if I should buy them because I am running out of room, but I was reading the reviews and I could not pas them up😄
