Sent my 2013 head unit in to repair guys from ebay, they fixed it with a lifetime guarantee for $140! Still working perfect! Baking it may or may not work for a while!
My 2010 Ford F150 after 12 years of working perfect the radio stopped working just like this one shown. I disconnected the battery and waited for 10 minutes and then reconnected the battery and it WORKED! It somehow reset itself. Just my experience of what happened. Be well. 😁😁
It was so nice to find a video that walks through a reasonable diagnosis process. I was able to borrow my shop's Autel and check a lot of the same stuff you did, like the inputs from the controls and communication with the ACM (or in my case, lack thereof), so I feel a lot better condemning the ACM in my friend's truck. It sucks, but at least now we know what we need with more confidence. Greatly appreciated; thank you!
I watched this but was skeptical. Radio hadn't worked for 3 or 4 years. Gave it a shot. I took the radio out but didn't disassemble radio. Put it in a cool over for 20 min st 275. Let it cool to touch. Hooked it back up but didn't work. Thought i would try again but left if fir the night. I got in my truck today and it scared the sh*t out of me. It was loud. The radio and the clock bith work. Thank you!
My 2013 F 150 also stopped working 5 days ago . The clock kept flashing, pushed every button on the dash. Picked up a new battery still nothing changed. One day later i hit a pot hole, like magic the radio works. Go figure.
My volume doesn't work nor speakers. I have the fx4 appearance package 8inch display. I sent the AIPM and ACM in to get fixed and tested. But they say nothing is wrong with them. So hes gonna run the ACM for 3-4 hours and see what happens. Are you saying i have to buy a new ACM or AIPM for $400 each and have to have it reprogrammed?
He said a refurbished unit from Ford but I called Ford and they said they only sell new. 700. + bucks . Too much. I bakes mine in the oven it worked for an hr at 385 . So then I baked it at 450 degrees and ruined it for good.
@@johnparks9986 if you order a replacement ACM from Ford it should have the same ESM number. If you get install a used on or other you’ll probably have a different ESN and have to call Sirius and give it to them.
Me too hit another and it came on. Saw all the posts and figured screw this I am replacing it. But the new radio will not even come on. All fuses are good . All power is good. I'll let ya know what I find. Oct 2023. So confirmed radio is dead. Go to Crutchfield and get one if u have issue. After months of trying everything and one else the only thing that fixed it was a new radio from Crutchfield. And it sounds better even with all factory speakers
These trucks have problems with the radios I have a 2012 f150 xlt I done went threw two factory radios and two after market pioneer radios with then three years and still don't know what the problem is they last a while and they go out
Mine has popped and cracked occasionaly for the past month....and just died yesterday :( Power button makes the clock come back on but shoot, this is more than diy backyard mechanic stuff now. I'll try battery disconnect
I wish i could figure out the problem because im tired of spending money on radios i went to ford and they put a test on it and they said it was the radio but i still have the same problem
Forscan for windows is free to download, you’ll need a Windows laptop. You’ll need the extended license version, but you can get the free 2 month trial. An Obdlink EX cable to plug into the vehicle with is $59.95. Any competent Ford dealer could flash it after installation, some independent repair shops.
Have you have any with a U0249 Lost Communication With Entertainment Control Module Rear B error code? And where it’s located or needing to be replaced? Cannot find much online.
@@CarShopTalk so perhaps a dummy error, there’s a grey plug in the very back under the console that leads to nothing and unsure what would it could plug into that makes me think that’s it.
@@LPerez I was going to look into that a little for you and I didn’t even see U0249 listed under a 2010 F150. What module is the code in, ACM? Has it had the ACM or APIM swapped or replaced? It sounds like it’s looking for a rear control unit that it’s not equipped with. U0249 is listed under Expedition which would have a rear control unit. Sounds like either someone swapped in an Expedition radio or turned on the rear control feature in the configuration / as-built data. I’d try down loading and installing the factory as-built file for the ACM and that should take care of your code.
I have a Ford F150 model 2013, the same shape that I changed in the video, the radio does not work, and I bought a radio with a screen and full buttons, and when I went to the engineer, we found that all the connections and cables are completely different. Is it possible to change the connections and cables? Please help me if you have a solution
If I understand correctly you’re putting an after market radio and bezel into the truck. Do they list an adapter kit or jumper harness so it will plug in?
