This is an excellent post-assassination discussion, as radio talk show host Jerry Williams interviews actor Theodore Bikel on the night of JFK's death.
This program comes from the archives of radio station WMEX in Boston, Massachusetts.

Every American should be made to listen to this entire broadcast, in a quiet room, without distractions, these 50 years later. It is startling to me how we are back here again as a society. The specific issues have jumbled and changed, but so little else has changed.

This is the period which catapulted Jerry Williams into the first tier of talk show hosts, his period from the late 1950s through the mid-1960s on WMEX 1510 in Boston. Despite WMEX not having one of the more powerful signals in the region, his show was top-rated and often riveting.

Thanks so much for posting this. It's an amazing peek into the aftermath of a tragic historical event. I was only 3 when President Kennedy was killed. All I can remember is that my older sister was crying for days afterwards. ....This talk show host sounds reasoned and logical. Very much like Ronn Owens, who has been the go to talk show host here in the bay area (SF) for decades.

Theodore Bikel had an amazing run in the arts; from recording artist as a folk singer, to Broadway theater, (appearing as the first Captain Von Trapp in the stage version of Sound Of Music and later as Tevya in “Fiddler On The Roof”, as well as appearing in feature movies, and in TV series that were far too numerous to mention here, but they covered the spectrum; everything from Playhouse 90 in the 1950’s to “Combat” in the 60’s, “Charlie’s Angels” in the 70’s, “Falconcrest” in the 80’s, and even “Star Trek-The Next Generation” in the 1990’s, and those are just to mention a few. He was still acting and performing well into the 2000’s. RIP, Good Sir. 🙏🕯

The thing is they didn't have a million entertainment sources back then; they had a few TV and radio stations, and everyone was giving continuous coverage for 3 days. I wonder if any local stations went back to normal programming before Monday. 2:05 The irony is Ozzy tried to assassinate General Walker, but missed. He then found a new target.

@jnagarya519
@jnagarya519 3 года назад
Lied to about what? And by whom other than the lucrative cottage industry established by Mark Lane? PBS ran a special about the Boston University School of Medicine forensic evaluation of the evidence in the assassination. The evidence shown included the x-rays of JFK's skull. It showed the exact same findings as the Warren Commission found. It is understandable when a sudden major loss occurs, without explanation as to why, people will look for answers that will answer the "Why?" Some will believe anything, even if it means ignoring some evidence, and making up other. Ever see or read the Marr's book, "Crossfire," which posits that JFK was shot from four directions? Out-and-out and absolutely hogwash. The shot to the head was exactly where the Warren commission reported, and that bullet "blew out" the right-brain and the right temple. And the rifle used was designed such that bullets intendedly "tumbled" after a particular distance from existing the gun's barrel. Thus the evidence showed the bullet hitting Gov. Connally's dress shirt sideways -- exactly as the Warren Commission found. I went back and forth for decades about whether there was a conspiracy. The records unsealed as result of the 1976 House investigation showed that "holes" in the public evidence -- filled with all sorts of fictions from the cottage industry -- were then filled in, and that new evidence made sense and fit the already known. If Oswald didn't do it, then why did he kill Officer Tippet?

The Republicans passed their Tax Cut for Billionaires behind closed doors, not allowing any Democrats in. You know that, so stop the lying as excuse to continue ignoring that there are two major parties. The Republicans aren't about solutions, else they'd be providing for the actual taxpayers, in this year of the Trump Pandemic, instead of bailing out the wealth and corporations, who don't pay taxes, and who don't need to be bailed out.

@@JP-wx6uh They "hate" lawlessness, international criminal gangsterism, and fascism. Let's look at Trumpism totally ignoring Congress -- and then blame the Democrats in the IGNORED CONGRESS for not "working with" Trump for "solutions" to the pandemic, which Trump has all along ignored, and now, as it surges again, saying it is "cured".

No indeed. The irony is these people were guilty of the same rush to judgment we all were after Oklahoma City in 1994 after that bombing when it was assumed it was Arab terrorism. Yet those who were so anxious to blame "right wing fanaticism" and also to stigmatize Dallas never apologized for what they did but instead continued to foster the false narrative. Lee Harvey Oswald had nothing to do with the city of Dallas and had nothing to do with any sick undercurrent in American society, he was in fact a byproduct of devotion to a distinctly UN-American way of thinking.
