10/15/17/20/30/40/60/80/160m All Band, All Mode HF SDR QRP Transceiver using a Radioberry hat - by Johan, PA3GSB on the Raspberry Pi 4B running PihpSDR software/app by John Melton, G0ORX.
This is a step-up from the popular uSDX+ SOFTWARE DEFINED RADIO.
Probably a step lower than the Hermes Lite-2, because it's still a half-radio. We still need to build a BPF, LPF, TR relay switching, Pre-amp, and PA - to make it a complete Transceiver.

It is a great radio. If you install WSJT-X, you can even work digital modes. I've made a tutorial vídeo on how to setup both the Radioberry and WSJT-X for that effect. As for the build quality really depends on the manufacturer. I have a different board, and although there is nothing to write home about, the quality is pretty good. You can by an heatsink kit for the Raspberry Pi4 and apply the two biggest square heatsinks to both the AD98666 and the FPGA. Also, the holes beneath those chips should be filled with solder. That is important for grounding and for heat dissipation as well.

Thank you for your feedback, sir. Yes, now all the heatsinks are in place - including a fan - in the final phase. I've pinned the link to that video. Every day I'm having QSOs using this Radioberry. I have 2 boards. Both are different. Thanks for the suggestion on the digital modes. I'll give it a shot. 73.

It's interesting that this board has such visibly poor build quality, but the Cyclone chip has a 2319 date code, so it was manufactured this year. Fresh electronics, just bad assembly quality control I think! It's great that it works so well, it seems like a fun extension of the Pi's capabilities.

Thanks for your feedback - with the DC. Yes, frankly, I didn't expect it to work. The supply chain has no stock of this chip. The Tx also works well. Definitely a fun project. 73!

Will this work wirh a pi5 ? The faster speeds of the pi5 out to benifit. I wonder if pure signal can be adapted? Liked Following 😊

Every video I see both of the Radioberry and the Hermes Lite 2 shows at least an S7 band noise level... what signal does it measure with no antenna? Thanks!

Thanks for your feedback. I'm not in a position to give you exact figures at this time because my Radioberry is down.... work in progress for upgrades. However, there's no audio output or visible static when antenna is disconnected. RF gain plays a crucial role (especially) in this rig. From legacy radios, my practice was to max out RF gain.... I had to relearn everything when I started with this. I just keep the RF gain as low as possible.

Yes, if you add everything, it's as expensive as a commercial SDR QRP TRX. I agree....not cheap, but nice... Gives us ample opportunity to learn.

My best wishes to you. It's a bit frustrating initially....to get it going. You'll then have to build the other things to make it transmit. Check out my video which shows this TRX in action (if interested). GL & 73.

Maybe who has tried it, instead of Raspberry Pi Orange Pi can be used for Radioberry?

It did cross my mind, but haven't tried it. In my perspective, this is already an expensive project...more expensive than the Hermes Lite-2. So, I don't think I'll spend anymore on this. Thanks for your message. 73.

Thanks for your feedback. The vendor is hamradioshop. Please google. I didn't like the build quality. The other vendors seem to have the older version of the board.

Good question. My guess is, although we have our strengths, we don't have the infrastructure and the systems in place for high-end chip manufacture. But, we are getting there. Thanks for your feedback.
