Through playing around with imovie, I discovered how beautiful the Live from the basement version of Videotape by Radiohead is when played in reverse. Enjoy.
I was just thinking the same thing. My native language is somewhat related to Icelandic though, so Sigur Ros' doesn't sound completely fantasy to me. I can actually almost hear some English lyrics in this too, it would be fun to try and write down what you hear, probably different from person to person. But it doesn't have to mean anything, Thom's voice is amazing in itself.
If you want something really interresting, put the same foreward version with this one in same time. The must is to mix the volume as the original is louder than the reverse version. If you start on the right time (together) the rewerse version goes like an echo.
These are the lyrics I hear for this reversed tune Oh ohh oh ohh Please survey the naked fork Some ribs and ears Our eyes lock if we move our, our handsome hair Now our lip These would need a farmer It would satisfy me with snake noise while sniffing Sift the world's like owl's would What's happening is... Well, it rhymes with this Ooh ooh ooh ooh Please your ear more x4 Push me clear out near your lips Hotter than the summer highway We would never x2 Eat all them apples in the lake Enough... Arms race In my lab coat all those years I've been obsessed Says he, the fine servant Hits my eardrum x2 Falling voice Sickening lovebird I'm all unwound
you can reverse a radiohead song, slow it down, speed it up, disjoint it, turn it inside out--it survives every time, gives you something new and beautiful no matter the fuck what. this is why radiohead is my favorite band. the songs are timeless, enduring, endearing, and human.
I swear the editing only defines the idea of videotape. I think it is even more artistic and expressive because of the idea to be played reversed on purpose. Looks like we are living backwards to the past that made us who we are in present
They say a masterpiece is that which is perfect from any angle.... From any perception... No amount of scrutiny ever reveals flaws..... This song is being played backwards for fuck's sake.... And it's blowing mind!
Radiohead actually released a song that they reversed. The music for "Like Spinning Plates" is actually another song "I Will," played in reverse, then Thom Yorke recorded vocals over it.
Listened to this around the time I was always in the hospice, heavy. This music is sacred, I'd had their songs in the hardest time of my life. I want to repay Radiohead somehow, too bad I can't, whatever.
I hope there's no record of how many times you've listened to a certain rewound videotape... it might be as embarrassing as that vhs porno that was all warn-out it that particular place.
Thumbs up man! Awesome attempt. They say people can "hear what they want" with backwards speech.... But what you want to hear is fucking beautiful. I particularly like the "Niece is covered in worms" line. Which at first glance you might think is silly until you think of it like she's dead and buried and the singer is destroyed with grief at how ridiculous it is, messing with his happy memories of her.
My 2 part attempt at making lyrics for this (starts at 1:15): Listen here mam, I need it firmly, I skip the names an' yeah. All eyes are on him. He freed more. Come to me now I know I am him -- This is what we need from them. Their worlds taste bad. Were you listening? cause', I'll see it first if you don't take halves -- help, my niece is covered in worms and she's cool with it.
continued backwards lyrics " we made out we made excuses teenage angst (or teenager says) you fart (or find it) so funny There is no Heaven there is no evil Money was milky Who turned (or churned) them on? "
lol the post was just made for the fun of it, i don't mind actually cursing in the media (unless its directed towards someone, then its still bad i believe). i just had a typing tourrete episode. I agree with you that they are used so commonly that they lost their 'crude' effect :-)
