This is one of their best performances. You can see it on Thom’a face at the end. He knows he nailed it. This is such a simple song and it creates such a vivid and simmering atmosphere. What a performance
some of his best lyrics even to this day are on hail to the thief, come to think of it. which is funny, because i remember reading that a lot of the lyrics in on this album were placeholders that he just never bothered changing. i cant source that, but i think i read it from an interview or something
okay. i've shed my fair share of tears listening to the magestical band i idolize like a schoolgirl. but my god. please explain this curve ball of a post. work wif me here.
Brilliant. I keep coming back to this version because obviously it's hell of a performance, and because the bass line is more audible, and adds so much to jonny's and thom's lines
For many people the best radiohead songs are "Creep", "Karma Police", "Paranoid Android", "High&Dry", "Fake Plastic Trees", etc. But for me "Scatterbrain" is one of their best songs.
hard to choose, really.. they have quite number of amazing, iconic songs that describe them. fake plastic trees and scatterbrain are my favorites though
I'm walking out In a force ten gale Birds thrown around Bullets for hail The roof is pulling off By its fingernails Your voice is rapping on my windowsill Yesterday's headlines Blown by the wind Yesterday's people Ends up scatterbrain Then any fool can Easy pick a hole I only wish I could fall in A moving target firing range Somewhere I'm not Scatterbrain Somewhere I'm not Scatterbrain Lightning fuse, powercut Scatterbrain
@@thesadprofessor Hey Michael I hope you are well. Sometimes I don't have the words to express things but a band does. If I can help out one person who does not understand the lyrics it makes me feel a little useful. See you around the traps :).
like all most radiohead songs they climax towards the end. the hammering and timing of the guitars and Base on this live version is some of the most perfect and beautiful picking you will ever here on any song ever let along radiohead. p.s amsp is the new ok computer
I love the emotion of this song. God, the way he says "scatterbrain". It reminds me of the feeling I get from How to Disappear Completely. It's tragic almost, begging and pleading.
In 1933, Helen Keller published an essay titled "Intelligent Reading." I wonder if Yorke was inspired by this. The essay is about how people read so much in newspapers, but fail to get the point. We consume and consume, but fail to focus on the point of any of what we read and listen to. Media --for all its information, investigation, analysis, and supposed purpose-- is turned into so much chatter by the consumer audience. That's pretty Radiohead right there! 1933. That's some serious insight, and prescient of the far off future...
Hail to the thief is the best Radiohead album. I know that's controversial but it's pinnacle of what came before. The prefect synthesis of the rock of The Bends/OK Computer and the electronic of Kid A/Amnesiac. They achieved the perfect album in my opinion. Of Course I love all the other albums but this stands out as the best.
Scatterbrain. (As Dead As Leaves.) Radiohead I'm walking out In a force ten gale Birds thrown around Bullets for hail The roof is pulling off By its fingernails Your voice is rapping On my window sill Yesterday's headlines Blown by the wind Yesterday's people End up Scatterbrain Then any fool can Easy pick a hole ('I only with I could fall in') A moving target In a firing range Somewhere I'm not Scatterbrain Somewhere I'm not Scatterbrain Lighting fuse Power cut Scatterbrain
