To non guitar players, they may not appreciate how hard it is to perform an intricate picking melody the entire length of the song while simultaneously singing in a vocal line that allows for almost no breaks and really long breath holds. Thom makes it look like the easiest thing in the world.
I've always admired Thom's singing skills, but lately I started to admire his guitar playing as well. Combining them must be a devil's thing few people achieve
I learned how to play it, and it's hard to keep going on this rhythm, not to mention the fact that you have to play the same exact time as another person.
when someone has incredible lung capacity, clear and soft tone, natural vibrato, consistent guitar picking, you have the raw talent of Thom Yorke. Sitting behind my computer screen and completely zoned in. hope the audience was as well.
thom has arguably the best technical singing ability of any other man in alternative music. he never strains, his breath capacity is insane, and his tone is always just as good as it is on albums. he really is something else.
For sure, it's something, but what do you think about this performance. Musicians, singer ...? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OorZcOzNcgE.html&ab_channel=DeepPurpleOfficial
Confused? This is from 1995 but the sound quality is one of the best I have ever heard. 2 people sound like an orchestra. Here we are 28 years later and praying for a big tour.
All hail to the thief All hail to the thief But I'm not But I'm not But I'm not But I'm not Don't question my authority or put me in a box 'Cause I'm not 'Cause I'm not Oh go and tell the king That the sky is falling in But it's not But it's not But it's not Maybe not Maybe not
@@somebraveapollo8211I hear ya! The entire “OK Computer” album is STUNNING & Yes Omgoodness YEAAAS! “Exit Music” (for a film) -from “Ok Computer” . There’s no doubting both “The Bends” and “Ok Computer” were Sublime and defining. My partner & I “debate” (in jest) as to which of those 2 particular Radiohead Album’s is better. Hehe 🙃
thom yorke probably has one of the most gorgeous voices of all time, and the fact that he’s entirely self-taught with no vocal training is incredible. god, i’m so in love with this man 😔😔
maybe just a few have noticed the amazing and well controlled, fast and beautiful VIBRATO on Tom's singing voice plus the fact that Johnny was playing perfectly even with a cast on his arm
@@ericmorrison8772 Yeah the picking part isn't actually that hard, it's easy to play it a few timesheets. But it's not easy to play it for almost 5 minutes straight while singing and barely getting a moment to a breathe.
I think this might be better than the actual album version. The vocal’s so alive and haunting, and the stripped down and harmonious doubled-acoustic instrumental gives it that perfect intimate feel.
Considering they take the situation so casually, this is simply an astounding performance. Just two guitars and one voice and the sound blows the room to pieces like an atomic bomb.
I just heard this for the first time during the end scene of The Handmaid's Tale - season 4, episode 3. I can't stop listening to it. Perfect for the end of the world. 🌍
It's really incredible how long he can hold those notes for.. I can play this on guitar and sing, but it's almost impossible for me to sing it like he did. What makes it more amazing is that he's a lot smaller than i am!
I'm always stunned how Thom was able to sing 'Fade out again' and 'Immerse your soul in love' parts without taking any breath in between the words and still sounding so perfect. Amazing
The funniest part about Japanese culture is no matter how bleak the artistic interaction is, they respond with the upbeat type of attitude you'd expect from a kid's Saturday morning cartoon.
Thom about this song " It drains me, and it shakes me, and hurts like hell every time I play it, looking out at thousands of people cheering and smiling, oblivious to the tragedy of its meaning, like when you’re going to have your dog put down and it’s wagging its tail on the way there....."
One of the most beautiful and talented musical performances ever captured on camera. The guitars, the vocals and the moment...pure talent and on the spot. We're blessed to have this.
To anyone that thinks Radiohead is mesmerizing due to effects and gadgetry, I present you two acoustic guitars and one voice through a regular microphone. Still mesmerizing.
For real me too , when I found the original I thought this is the greatest song of all time , this live performance just brings it to a whole new level , Thoms vocals are just insanely good , can feel every word and note, he was revolutionary Radiohead are the greatest band of all time and no one can change my mind
This song describe perfect how you feel when you can't find a valid reason for which live. Then you ask why you should keep live when you find out that your life doesn't have any meaning. Thorm yorke can describe with this marvellous voice this excruciating discovery.
His performance is OFF THE CHARTS. It is so rare to see an artist who, sick to death maybe of replaying the same material, still, remembers the very same emotion and agony which drove them to write the song in the first place, and can still convey it in its essence in a live gig. This man is the genuine of genuine articles.
Agreed. It's definitely a tricky one to sing and play at the same time, however, with lots of practice your muscle memory eventually takes over. 'Body Snatchers' is another tough one to sing and play as well but Thom makes it look effortless. Such a brilliant musician....
I've been a Radiohead fan for as long as I can remember and I've somehow missed this. What an incredible performance even by Radiohead's standards. Sadly the presenters didn't seem to register what they had just witnessed. I would have been speechlees and in total awe.
For me, this is the greatest live performance of any song ever. Listened to many times now, and it's still as haunting and mesmerising as the first time. Incredible performance by incredible musicians
This is special, but his voice on 'Like Spinning Plates' live?ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M7YX_ObtmsM.html I get chills every time....
also check out Give up the Ghost here on YT, the one where they are live on Kimmel or one of those talk shows. It is the most beautiful performance.. so otherworldly:)
My son learned this first thing he taught himself to play guitar at 11. He’s very talented and loves Radiohead decades after I did. We had frequent electricity blackouts in that neighbourhood and he would bring his acoustic down and play this for his younger siblings ( and me) while they held light sticks in the dark I love this song anyway but it’s extra special for the memories
