He’s quite well renowned within the circles that know him. But you’re right he is still too esoteric he should be held up with the likes of Hendrix, Marr or Page for his innovation and proficiency
Dude! That must've been such a beautiful experience! I would cry from the happiness and maybe the fear of the sky because I would think aliens were gonna come down lol
I stopped listening to Radiohead on a daily basis because their songs are the most painful and joyful at the same time, and I can't take it. But sometimes I return to feel this again. And every time it gets more and more divine
Yep, uploaded a decade after release and we're now a decade after upload. Just as beautiful as when I turned 18 at the start of a (New) Labour government (having missed being old enough to vote by a month, with my birthday six days after release). Fantastic live performance too. Love that it's 240p to cock a snook at all the modern day HD snobs baulking at the concept of a high quality label (referring to the sound not the image)! Great shout those that spotted the mad laugh @ 0:06 too!
I really wish I knew how they did what they do. The way they write their music makes me so fucking jealous. Every single song sounds so ethereal, so masterly written. It brings my head to near explosive points.
Lots of things to say but here's my take: Radiohead is very unique in their approach to the notion of "serving the song" instead of their individual contributions so they clearly prioritize the writing aspect in their music, according to Jonny Greenwood he is "more proud of what they have written than how he plays". Nonetheless, it seems that they tend to contribute in some specific ways which elevate their tracks tremendously: Thom Yorke - his teacher Terence Gilmore James described him as "thinker and experimenter", main songwriter, avant-gardist, very underrated in rhythm guitar Jonny Greenwood - composer/arranger extraordinaire, the band's jack of all trades; he's arranging Thom's ideas and in my opinion he is most certainly one of the heavy hitting composers of the 21st century (not to mention his creative textures in guitar) Ed O'Brien - the pedal wizard, he's very candid in his taste and one of the most underrated guitarists in recent history, secret sauce in their creative textures Colin Greenwood - he's known as the peacemaker in the band, extremely underrated bassist, his rhythmic interplay with Jonny is often underappreciated but certainly elevates the songs tremendously Phil Selway - the human metronome, he supports the band in every way, incredible at drum programming as well, he's like the skeleton of their music Nigel Godrich - The best sixth man of all time Stanley Donwood - RH is also very candid about their relationship with visual arts and usually this aspect contributes to the imagery of their songs tremendously without being aware, he's equally responsible for RH aesthetic Radiohead, for me, is the perfect combination of selfless people who know what they like about music and have insatiable appetite towards exploring new realms by being fascinating musicians but avid lifelong learners at the same time...
I don't how many times I have to tell you humans that Thom has sold his soul to the devil for this life he and his band has .... they're very good they're great actually, and we all love them and legitimately every song they create ....because it's kind of their destiny to entertain us and do it quite well, that musical contract was signed sealed and delivered by Mr. Thom Yorke himself when he gave up his soul to the devil ...
Way back in 1997 I was writing for a street press magazine , and I got an invite to a secret gig Radiohead played in Sydney Australia. It was just before OK Computer was released, it was kind of an industry promo. During my 12 years doing that job in Sydney I went to over 3000 gigs, and many more since then, but that Radiohead show rates in my Top 5. Yeah. That good. And that was still their relatively early days. I've seen them again since, and although they are far more polished now, it isn't quite the same.
Yes, in its acoustic version recorded in 1995, which is on the album Lost Treasures 1993-1997 Disc 1 or The Golden Unplugged Album. This is the most beautiful acoustic performance of a song that I've ever heard.
Yeah. Rolling Stone ranked OK Computer as #162 in their list of the Top 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Fuck that shit. It should at least be in the Top 10.
I'm still thinking Radiohead is one of the most underrated bands of all time. Their popularity is less than Nirvana, Queen etc. That makes me really upset, but at the same time, Its good to know your taste in music is not same with others. It feels me little special.
The Breath Of The Morning I Keep Forgetting The Smell Of The Warn Summer Air I Live In A Town Where You Can't Smell A Thing You Watch Your Feet For Cracks In The Pavement Up Above Aliens Hover Making Home Movies For The Folks Back Home Of All These Weird Creatures Who Lock Up Their Spirits Drill Holes In Themselves And Live For Their Secrets They're All Uptight Uptight Uptight Uptight Uptight Uptight Oh I Wish That They'd Swoop Down In A Country Lane Late At Night When I'm Driving Take Me On Board Their Beautiful Ship Show Me The World As I'd Love To See It I'd Tell All My Friends But They'd Never Believe Me They'd Think That I'd Finally Lost It Completely I'd Show Them The Stars And The Meaning Of Life They'd Shut Me Away But I'd Be Alright Alright I'm Alright Alright I'm Just Uptight Uptight Uptight Uptight Uptight Uptight Uptight Uptight Uptight
My favorite Radiohead song. Everyone is always shocked by that, but can never seem to explain why...they all "like it". The way the simple but melodically intricate parts layer together in the verse and chorus to perform an impenetrable cascade of sound...it's hypnotizing. Especially once you've heard the acoustic version, and realize how they essentially cut out the main melodic part of the song...and made it brilliant.
A friend of mine always used to say, "The proof God exists is all the beautiful music in the world" Seeing these boys play live always makes me think of that...
Proof that humanity transcends the need for childish fairy tale God notions. Highly evolved primates glorifying the best that living a life and existing with others can bestow upon all those who get it. We can share as tribespeople the common understanding of what we can achieve when we aspire to reach and touch the stars. After all, we are stardust, elementally, and the stars are us.
The breath of the morning I keep forgetting The smell of the warm summer air I live in a town Where you can't smell a thing You watch your feet For cracks in the pavement Up above Aliens hover Making home movies For the folks back home Of all these weird creatures Who lock up their spirits Drill holes in themselves And live for their secrets They're all Uptight Uptight Uptight Uptight Uptight Uptight Oh I wish that they'd swoop down in a country lane Late at night when I'm driving Take me on board their beautiful ship Show me the world as I'd love to see it I'd tell all my friends but they'd never believe me They'd think that I'd finally lost it completely I'd show them the stars and the meaning of life They'd shut me away But I'd be alright Alright I'm alright Alright I'm just Uptight Uptight Uptight
15 years ago I ate mushrooms for the first time and walked on the beach late at night by myself and listed to this album for the first time, this song made me unload tears. I'll never forget that moment for as long as I live.
Dude, I've been playing music since I was 4... I'm 23. I can't write the masterpieces that Radiohead has. They have some magical ability to write absolutely perfect songs. That's what I meant.
This is my favorite, I'm 41, been listening since I was 17 in 98, I started playing guitar at 18 so I've been playing this one for over 20 years, I didn't write my first song until 2012 when I was 30, keep playing 👌🏼🤟🏼
This and Let Down are my two favorite songs off of OKC. Both songs change your mood, and put you on another planet. I think Kid A is Radiohead's masterpiece. It's so unique and every single song flow's perfectly into the next. OK Computer is right behind Kid A though with Amnesiac, HTTT, IR, The Bends not far off. This is just my opinion
Still listening in 2024...and this still remains their most rare and sonically incindiary performance in the history of this band....doesn't get any better than this.

[x7] I wish that they'd swoop down in a country lane Late at night when I'm driving Take me on board their beautiful ship Show me the world as I'd love to see it I'd tell all my friends But they'd never believe me They'd think that I'd finally lost it completely I'd show them the stars And the meaning of life They'd shut me away But I'd be all right All right.. I'm just uptight Uptight.. [x7]
Ok Computer is one of, if not the best albums I've ever heard in my life. The thought put into every song makes it like a dream of music when I close my eyes. I instantly start to think of my life based off these songs... I've never had that type of feeling while listening to The Beatles and other classic bands. Truly amazing band, record, and my favorite song. Thanks Radiohead, for giving me the best eargasms I've ever had!
Excellent tune. I love listening to this in my car on clear summer nights and driving around. Very chill. Excellent song to listen to while star gazing
There's a normal, everyday brilliance to radiohead, effortlessly putting together material practically every other band on earth or elsewhere would die and kill for, and then making them even better live. Some trick
