great performance, humbly bows to the audience, gives a sarcastic smile for the journalists who accuse him of never smiling and leaves the stage without the award. classic yorke
@@SeaWiseProduction Your comment made sense but being incurably curious, I did a bit of digging and found the actual history of the name: - Reviewing the Smile's first gig May 23, 2021, Danel Kreps (Rolling Stone) wrote: In his lone remark during the performance, Yorke introduced the band, “Ladies and gentlemen, we are called ‘The Smile.’ Not the smile as in ‘ahh,’ more ‘the smile’ as in, the guy who lies to you every day…” The trio took their name from a Ted Hughes poem of the same name. Now that DOES sound very Thom!😄
It's actually the media (photographers) who he is staring at. Hence the distasteful glare. He wouldn't look at an audience with such disdain. It's been documented anyway 😮
imagine inviting Thom to your wedding and he takes over the piano. Then suddenly all the people in the ballroom start to question the meaning of their life
It makes sense, Thom Yorke does not make music in search of awards but for passion. He gives himself totally when he plays for his audience, whether with his main band, Radiohead, or solo, or with his other projects.
@@musibaba70 But firstly Radiohead (or previously On A Friday) made music exactly for awards, to get attention. When they got it with Cr... you know what song, and singles like Pop Is Dead, only then they could afford themselves luxury to play what they want.
MDR !! Excellent, je te suis tous les jours sur tes vidéos cryptos et je m’aperçois ici que tu as de très très bons goûts musicaux !! Ne change pas surtout…😉
Has to be the most underrated man in music history, and that's still with the knowledge that he's the front man of one of the most famous bands of all time. If someone like John Lennon had written had a song like this, you would never hear the end of it. This is simply genius.
I listened this song first time when I watched the movie Prestige. It was in the climax as a theme song. I don't remember the movie much but this masterpiece stayed with me all along. Thank God I discovered this hidden gem.
@@TheSpitacular fr unbelievably great film something seriously eerie about the whole thing. Blows my mind everytime and then finishes with this brilliant piece by Thom - might just be my favorite film of all time..
The song is fairly straight forward.. yet he pours his soul into every little note and that is what makes it so significantly beautiful. Once again, thank you Thom Yorke.
There were "hecklers" that booed. He was giving them "the stare", lol! The "if you don't like it then leave" type of look. His mouth was smurked, it wasn't his mad face. If ya know his history and his beliefs on things, plus watch the whole awards show, you will see it differently.
I can't believe it was so long ago.... I remember the next day Rolling Stone or someone running a "what was Thom thinking?" survey for his extended glare at the beginning hahaha
ha ha, yes, if looks could kill :) I remember reading in the comments a while ago, that someone said he was staring down at some people talking, I dont how anyone would want to talk through this though
I can't believe this has 10 years! I'm a huge Radiohead fan and I just discovered this some months ago...and as almost everything of theirs and of him...I fucking loved it...♡♡♡
This songs reminds me of one of the greek philosophers,, cant remember which one (either aristotle, plato or socrates) They said that the average person was too involved in their sporting events, jobs, social lives and families to ever give deep contemplative thought to the biggest questions in life,, what is ethics? what is the meaning of life? So what they do instead is abide the rules someone else wrote and play their part. This song to me is about how as modern busy people, especially the urban dwelling people who "rolls in reams across the street" we don't take the time to analyse what we see because "there is not time". Sounds right to me. Maybe to Thom a proper life is one where you don't act until you know for sure what you should do, what is right, what makes sense and he feels that too many people just do whats in front of them. Play a part. But for most people this isnt available,, graduate, work, buy, consume, die. Its expected of you to fit into society,, whether you understand why or not. The existential dilemma (why am I here? what is my purpose?) is becomming quite common as people live lifes in which they feel less power over themselves. We rely upon electricity other people make, food other people make, gas and cars other people make, houses other people built. There's a sense of pride in doing things for yourself. What do you do for yourself in a city? You'd be lost without all the things other people do for you. I think this song is somewhat about being lost. So I think its about the disconnection of people from thought. You have little time and lots to do, you don't get to analyse,, you have to move on to the next matter before the last one has made sense. theres no time to analyse to think things thru to make sense it gets you down
"The unexamined life is not worth living" - Socrates Yep, sad but that's the reality for most people who are just trying to survive. And when people do realize what would make their lives more meaningful, it's hard for a lot to make the change with so many limitations, societal pressure and restrictions.
I love this guy. I mean you just have to love someone who delivers one of the most beautiful and poignant song and then... That grin at 5:35 ! ... He's just so adorably human, smart, talented, serious and funny all at once. I just love this genius of a man.
The way his fingers slip on the piano, how he flirts with the mic-it's amazing how a so simple existence can hypnotize your senses.I still can't describe with words the way this man enters my ego
Ogni volta che ascolto questa canzone, piango, è di una profondità e di una bellezza che non può lasciare indifferenti. Thome è un essere umano , un poeta, un musicista di grande sensibilità. Impossibile non amarlo. ❤
I coulddie with the feeling of more than content and happy to have lived and seen and heard the most beautiful voice in music (especially if he sang this and I was in that crowd or Videotape) .. Honestly, I could easily say one of the best if Jeff Buckley was still alive or Chris Cornell.. Bit then again they're the legends and Thom Yorke is our last most loved gem ( Of course Johnny too) so we must keep him safe at all cost.
Freeze the frame at 5:35 for that gorgeous, gorgeous smile! Thom, you are so achingly beautiful, is your heavenly voice. I love every single thing about you.
In all honesty, if I had ever arrived to write a song this beautiful, layered and profound, not to mention being able to play it so flawlessly, and sing it so incredibly, I would sit back on my ass smugly until the grave. But for Thom Yorke, this is just one of scores of such songs. He touches our souls and just moves on and does it all over again.
It is so exquisitely beautiful ❤️ Thom just mesmerizes me, he touches my soul like no other musical artist ever and I’ve listened to some amazing music at 61 years old.
A self-fulfilling prophecy of endless possibility In rolling reams across a screen In algebra, in algebra The fences that you cannot climb The sentences that do not rhyme In all that you can ever change I'm the one you're looking for It gets you down It gets you down There's no spark You've no light in the dark It gets you down It gets you down You traveled far What have you found That there's no time There's no time To analyse To think things through To make sense Like candles in the city, they never looked so pretty By power cuts and blackouts Sleeping like babies It gets you down It gets you down You're just playing a part You're just playing a part You're playing a part Playing a part And there's no time There's no time To analyse Analyse Analyse
Thom's one of the best voices ever... He is a music genious, just like John and Paul were, and sometimes i think he's even better than them. Anyway, Analyse is just an incredible song... Magnificent performance... Love Radiohead till the end of the world...
All the thumbnails on suggested videos are all headshots of Thom yorke the exact same position facing right, looking like hes going in for an kiss with a microphone
He's unique and special. I love how he moves his head while singing. I love his voice, his lyrics, his koala face and the colour of his hair. He's definitely talented and absolutely smart. Damn, i love him so much.
The look he gives to "us" , before starting the song, is saying: "You really wanna hear what I have to say to you...So here it is: There is no time, there is no time to Analyse... He is brillant.
