Radiomaster just destroyed the surface market now. Eat it Spektrum lol. I can't get enough of my TX16S

ELRS also allows for 16 channels. You can connect to multiple receivers for adding channels. No need to go 4in1 for that.

I’ve been wanting an ELRS surface radio for a long time for the range for speed running. So far had to use a stick radio which is not what I wanted. This is awesome!

'Cheap plastic' aka everything spektrum! I had the biggest pile of 💩, ix20se. Sold that pos for $500 & bought my tx16s! BEST electronic purchase of my life! Currently have the futaba (surface) tx. WILL BE ordering this soon as it's available!

I am using a Radiomaster tx16s (with OpenTX) for my RC earthmovers and it is amazing. The mixing and programming that OpenTX/EdgeTX allow, together with the multi-module choice of compact and affordable receivers is great. This will be a great radio for everybody who does not need to operate 4 or more functions at the same time!

You way under sold it. So what it does ELRS, that would just seem like yet another receiver to a surface guy. I came from fixed wing and quads using OpenTx to ground vehicles and couldn't believe how limited the surface radios were. Mixing, channel assignment, sound, verbal telemetry, programming, mixes are awful or don't exist on them. Not to mention an EdgeTx transmitter where you can use a 4 in 1 module and control all your existing cars - futaba, spektrum, wltoys without having to replace any of your receivers.

What kind of range can you get on this on an RC car?

I really hope that this takes off, Futaba and ESPECIALLY Sanwa have driven the remote control market to such insane prices its not even funny; I mean: 70-80€ for a receiver?! The ELRS receivers have more range, about the same latency and even a friggin voltage probe integrated (something that costs another 80€ for Sanwa/Futaba and doesnt even work beyond 4S systems) for just 20-24€. And not to mention: they get constant firmware upgrades, for more features like SBUS (to use Futaba SR comaptible servos) and might even see Sanwa SSR in the future.

I want to know if this (with the 4-in-1 module) will work with the Losi Promoto mx 1/4-scale motorcycle and, if so, how you would need to program it for that RC motorcycle. It would also be interesting to see if this motor cycle will work as well with a ELRS receiver but I doubt it as the receiver provides some stabilization functionality.

4 in 1 is spektrum (aka rektum) compatible.
@bitogre
@bitogre 6 месяцев назад
@@old-rcplane-phart I know that but will all the features of the original transmitter be supported on the Radio Master MT12? If so, how do you configure the Radio Master MT12 to support all features?
@old-rcplane-phart
@old-rcplane-phart 6 месяцев назад
@bitogre I assume the 4 in 1 & elrs are the same 'chip' as in my tx16s. That being said, 4 in 1 does bind to every reciever. I bound my tx16s to a Walmart $20 toy (I had to know), & a buddies generic rc tank. It should bind with any rx & 1 can setup more than the 'standard' mixes & features. Hope this helps.
@bitogre
@bitogre 6 месяцев назад
@@old-rcplane-phart No, the 4-in-1 cannot talk ELRS as the 4-in-1 is in fact 4 chips (hence the name) but does include the chip needed for ELRS (which is based on LORA, not supported by any of the 4 chips).

Nice video but I still don't understand why and how this radio is "better" than other radios? Sure, it has EdgeTX and ExpressLRS, but how does this actually make it "better" than other radios? 99% of rc car drivers do not need super mega hardcore long range, so having it only makes it "better" for 1% of drivers. EdgeTX means what exactly? Other radios do what they are supposed to do so how can EdgeTX be "better"? I don't get it. To me, it is like having a SWISS ARMY KNIFE in the kitchen and all you need to do is cut onions and salary. You just need a knife. All the other features are not necessary and useless. Thanks.

Maybe the fact that you can control lots of different radio protocols
@1timeemailaddress811
@1timeemailaddress811 4 месяца назад
@@cazadon While my Radiomaster tx16s has the capability to command various radio protocols, this alone doesn't necessarily deem it "superior" to a Spektrum iX20. If your primary measure of superiority lies in the ability to handle diverse radio protocols, then indeed, it could be considered "better" in that aspect. However, in my perspective, this feature renders it distinctive rather than inherently superior. Appreciate your understanding.
@cazadon

@@1timeemailaddress811 depending on what protocols you are using has lower latancy, is a wheel style remote deisnged for surface and not an air controller that desinged for airplanes and heilcopter. has up to 16 channels. is all open source which means that you can conttrol everything about the radio for example if you want to change the layout of menus to fit your perferred way of having them which you cant do on your ix20. also if spektrum ever decieds to use planned obcelest your 1x20 is basically bricked how ever because mt 12 is open source it wont ever suffer from planned obcelesct as radiomaster does not own the software the community does and someone will contiune to surport older transmitters
@1timeemailaddress811
@1timeemailaddress811 4 месяца назад
@@cazadon Choosing the Spektrum iX20 as an example wasn't wise on my part, given that it's designed for air control. Let's instead compare the MT12 to a Futaba 10PX. I own the PT12 and have experimented with a Futaba 10PX. The 10PX impresses with its superior materials and build quality compared to the MT12. The display on the MT12 also pales in comparison to the one on the 10PX. It's not surprising, considering the 10PX is four times the cost. The term "open source" is often thrown around as if it's a necessity, but many everyday items we use are proprietary without hindering their usability. Examples include Microsoft Windows, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite, Apple macOS, gaming consoles, certain home appliances, specific car software, and closed-source web services. My point is that the MT12 is different, not necessarily better. Despite claims in RU-vid reviews, when it comes to controlling "regular" RC cars (usually requiring up to 5 channels for steering, throttle, traction control, and sometimes differentials), the radio doesn't offer a significant advantage over other premium surface transmitters. Reviewers need to assess this radio in an environment where its unique features truly shine, not with a Traxxas Slash or X-Maxx. In these scenarios, the touted features don't make a noticeable difference. I say noticeable because I agree, latency is "better" but the everyday driver is not going to notice it. BTW, I still rely on my Futaba 14MZ from 2004, so concerns about potential issues like being "bricked" due to the company's closure or UI changes don't bother me. Thanks.
