Hi. I got a bit unrelated question on X8R. I got lots of help on your INAV series and have done some autonomous flights with H743 with FPV. Whole reason to use H743 was to be prepared for a possible video signal loss. Video loss never occurred, but INAV/H743 unfortunately failed a few times. I'm working on another FPV plane and this has a retract. I put Mamba F722 only for OSD. No automation at all. Since this is my first plane with retract, I wanted to use GPS speed to be sent to radio to disable retract when speed is low. (and override switch to able it as needed) Setup: X8R is powered with a BEC. FC and GPS are powered by another lipo. Since X8R is already powered, I only used a single wire from S on Smart Port to R (and later tried T) pad on FC. Also tried SBUS, and basically all possible combinations and none seem to send GPS info to radio. Is Smart Port something I have to update with firmware ? Even if slower/inefficient, shouldn't either SBUS or Smart Port work ? Any guidance would be appreciated.

I just bought an X8R and am trying to bind with the taranis x9d+ SE. It wont seem to bind and i dont have normal d16, i have accst d16, is that the same thing? Any help greatly appreciated

Same thing. The RX may be on EU LBT version and the radio is on FCC (or vice versa) see my videos on flashing the RX.... Best of luck

Can you flash a FrSky rx via the Aux ports on the bottom of the radio or only the internal bay pins?

It depends on the radio, some will and some wont. All the ones I've tried seem to work with the bay pins..

Spent a snowy afternoon playing around... couldn't seem to flash out the bottom ports. Too bad, the pin layout is the "std" layout. Flashed several Archer Plus Stabalized rxs and my last S8R from the external bay... still works great. Thanks as always! @@Painless360

Hi from Portugal :) Great video! A couple of days ago I managed to flash my one and only X8R receiver to my one and only TX16s without setting PPM on external RF. Today I tried with PPM on and is ok too.

super simple, was able to update my old irange multi protocol module for my flysky using the radio-master tx16s jr bay instead of pesky epee drivers that were a pain. tx16s makes everything so easy.

I have been trying to flash a Radiomaster R168 to EU LBT V2. I have used my TX16s, then my Tx12 and a total of 4 R168's and not one of them will flash. I get a message like "Update Refused" or some such. I have tried both with FrSky X8R firmware [of which it is a bit-for-bit copy], and also with firmware from Radiomaster yet nothing works. I have tried with the external module on and PPM, and also with it off and letting the flash process power-up the receiver automatically. I have tried a couple of twisted cables with one end having pos and ground swapped, one long and one short. I have failed totally and RCgroups have offered no solution. Help!!

The process that works for me is the one in the video. Could it be a problem with the radio? Have other receivers flashed ok? Best of luck!

I have several x8r accst receivers i am using with my rm tx16s and have flashed them using version 2 downloaded from the frsky website .I do not need 8 ch in many applications .Can i use the x6r accst receivers and will i be able to flash them from a download from the frsky website.Thank you.

hello there I just bought and received "Jumper R900 915 receiver". However I can not bind it with my Taranis Access X9D plus 2019 with the R9M module! I tried different protocols and no luck. Do i have to flash the receiver? Can you please help me?! Thanks Best regards

I have flasshed my x8r receivers using my tx16s in the past but on these newest receivers i am getting the error message when i try to flash the external device that reads"firmware update error device not responding" These bew rx;s are packaged differently than the other I bough .I wonder if these are perhaps a different version

hi lee i got someany problems with a tanaris qx7 and frsky r9 is this radio plug and play with the r9? do i gote scientist to install and get r9 working? both module and reciever bought a flywoo but stil wasnt able to use it cause tanaris is just being a pain

It depends on what the problems are you are having with the Taranis as both radios share the OpenTX software that isn't new user friendly at all. I don't use the R9 stuff here as I am a Crossfire pilot so can't help a lot here, sorry. What I can say is that Crossfire and the TX16s work very well together..

Thanks once again! Worked perfectly with my RadioMaster TX16s using EdgeTX. Your tutorial went perfectly. I had to do this because my FrSky S8R RX was coming up with SOLID GREEN AND RED Leds. This was because the flash on the RX was different than the TX. Fixed with the updates.

Just found this as needed to flash an R161, the only thing that caught me out was setting the external RF to 16 channel as that alters the PPM Signal and it worked fine.

Shouldn't need to... if it is using ACCST v1 or V2 , LBT or FCC it sould be fine. Best of luck

Being very new to this hobby and transmitter. How do I get the receivers in the model to output ppm into my Cube Orange? On my FS I6 it was a receiver setting.

FlySky is unusual on that regard. The outputs on the Rx depend on the Rx you have. SBUS and PWM are common now. The CUBE will work better with a digital protocol like SBUS too.. Best of luck!

Can the radiomaster connect to frsky access receivers, or would they need firmware flashing back to accst? I found something that said it couldn't, but not sure if that's out of date now.

For binding what you do is to connect the receiver to the radio exactly this way, select your model on the radio, hold the receiver's button, put the external RF as PWM then do the binding process. 😊 After that you put the external RF as off and disconnect the receiver. Done. 😊

super ,je ne parle pas anglais mais j'arrive à comprendre certaines choses ,le traducteur en Francai n'est pas toujours exacte et clair ,j' ai confirmation qu'il faut un cable CROISE et connecté dans la baie JR et activer PPM pour avoir le courant , bon je ferais des essaies . Hello ! Thank you for your videos ! I have a question, I see you use a X8R and TX16S. I asked FRSKY if the X8R rx was compatible with F-Port and they answered Yes. For that they told me to flash the latest firmware on the X8R, and they gave me an exemple with an frsky radio where there is a box "Fport" to check in Receiver options in the radio. My question is : is it possible to do that with the TX16S, I'm planning to buy one but i don't find any informations about Fport enabling for X8R. Thank you by advance ! Damien

Could not have come at a better time. Having major problems after updating my X12S. It is still working fine on the two models that it came with using LR12 on a single L9r for each. Model 1 and model 2 RX's match. it was working on model three under D16 using a X8R as Rx3 But since update. Nothing. I've tried refreshing the Rx with both versions of firmware. Still nothing wont bind no signal Got me frustrated as. I think I've broken my trans. I'm only one in my club using Open Tx.

Possibly not. There are 4 types of ACCST firmware, ACCSTv1 with either FCC and LBT and ACCSTv2 with either FCC or LBT. Make sure that have tried all 4...best of luck

Thanks my man, after updating my Tx, had to update Rxs too, that's all it was, my mistake was I kept flashing with the firmware that used to work, another firmware it needed to work. Brilliant trap for new players. I've got all 16 channels working on my two X8R's. My first model creation on the trans was a huge one. My way of learning is deep end first. Lol now i just need to build the actual model for all the programming that's in the Tx. F111C with variable wings, flaps, slats, spoilers mixed with tailerons mixed with wing swing and override for air brakes with gear down. Main gear door works as air brake with gear up and all sorts of nasty goodyness. Lol thumbs up my man Saved my bacon from wereever in the world you are. Lol thumbs up from little New Zealand buddie

A quick unimportant note, when you tell it to flash the external module it powers up at least on my firmware version. So you don't need to set the external to ppm or anything.
