Hey I need help please. My throttle is working on 90 percent it doesn't work on 99 % or 98 % it always work on 90 percent I calibrate it but still facing this issue I buy new radio and I'm a beginner plz help me
The key message is these are v4 gimbals with the AG01 sensors. No prior version of the radio had this sensor. And since you appear to enjoy knit picking, it's they're not their, in the context with which you used the contraction. PS LOTS of People have an original run MK1 TX16s. For those people, the gimbal adjustments will be new. I have two other TX16s radios without that adjustment. I understand your view is to a single radio. My view is to address TENS OF THOUSANDS of possible scenarios.
Couple of things. For some of us racers, shortening the throttle (think the old red FRSky short throw gimbal) option is a big thing. Honestly the main reason i bought the AG01 gimbals. Second, how can i get those new slider switches AND do they work with my T16s. I use these on some wings for cameras on a pan/tilt system. Thanks!
I was going to buy one, I like the screen, but a simple search on google and I found out too many complains about quality control, all kinds of problems and broken parts just after 6 months or less of use, guess my Taranis 9XD will continue in service
I ordered my TX16s directly from Radiomaster on 30 March, 2022 I paid US$46 for expedited shipping. I received an email from them on 31 March to confirm shipping. However, despite the expedited shipping, the package was not picked up by DHL until 7 April, the exact same day that I receive an email from Radiomaster notifying me of the new TX16s MkII. So my TX16s is still 8-9 days delivery away and was made obsolete on the day it shipped. Nice one Radiomaster, it sucks.
Ugh. I feel your pain on that one. If you can't find a way to get out of the MKI deal, it might ease your stress to know you'll probably have the good gimbals (although I don't know if they used the AG01 sensors prior to the MKII), and the pots/knobs/encoder can *probably* be swapped for the MKII parts. I know that's a raw deal, but maybe those little mods can take some of the sting out.
@@RCVideoReviews Cheers, great idea, I'll do that. Not sure at this point if I want to swallow the cost of a set of AG01 gimbals, may save that one for the future!
@@RCVideoReviews I have a mark one tx16s and love it. It would be really cool if the USB charging board that's on the new Mark II is available as an add-on component. I would purchase that in a heartbeat if possible..
The 4in1 is a great bridge device. It will let you bind with just about anything. So coming from another system, yes, I would use 4in1. If you're just starting out, I'd say get ELRS and stick with it.
@RCVideoReviews thanks..I only have 2 planes as of now. Neither are ELRS got them binded and rates set up nicely watching your videos and just got it today. Will probably just go ELRS from here on out. Thanks a ton for the videos. Best ones I could find!
Such a great in depth review for someone relatively new to the hobby. Thank you!!! I just ordered a crux 3 with Crossfire along with this transmitter and the micro V2. Hoping I am satisfied with the range and penetration now.
Awesome video. Well explained. I do not have a tx16s yet, but soon. I'm going with the transparent one. I seen on a video that a guy turned the handle around 180. So, if I understand correctly, I can install some sort of Bluetooth and the audio will go to my earbuds?? Thanks for all you do.
Hi John another very comprehensive review thank you I've got the MK1 just wondering if I put the SD card {Edge TX 2.8 }from my MK1 into the MK2 radio and upgrade the firmware will my radio setting etc be transferred cheers Phil
Yes. You could probably use a spare sd card to flash the new radio first. You’ll also need to calibrate your sticks even if the radio doesn’t ask you to.
Excellent and deep review of this new installment of Radiomaster. What I don't understand is why neither Radiomaster, nor Jumper, nor Iflight, etc. they are able to properly combine the ELRS protocol with a full multiprotocol 4 in 1 and the option to add CROSSFIRE without extra tricks or fixes, and configured in a versatile and practical edge tx...not an "almost ready" just add this, go to this web page. every time enjoying the advantages of the new protocols they become nightmares instead of hobby objects that anyone with basic knowledge could access without much complication???🙄😏
What are the 'sideways Y' lights (buttons?) numbered 1-6 on the top center, beneath the S1/S2 knobs? Are these an indicator for something, or a function switch of some kind?
Hope you are still following this. I have just bought a new TX16S mk2 and find the volume low. it came with latest edgetx 7.2.1 as of aug 2022. Do i need the sound file you mention?
I may have missed it in your comments, but I believe the TX16S now ships with EdgeTX instead of OpenTX,which to me is a significant change. Love your videos.
Hi John! Million thanks for this video again 😎👍🏾. Today ive just done two flights( a full equipment maiden actually- TX16S mk2 v4 Edgetx,R88 wired as sbus,Zohd Kopilot Lite ,Bixler3), but im get upset.. 1- rssi not good, during takeoff only get around 67db. While flying around 90ft tx16s says 'rssi low' @ 52db.. the furthest ive tried is around 120ft and tx16 says 'rssi critical' and at 39db..almost lost signal. Have tried both D8 and D16 protocol on the Frsky modulation.also same.R88 rx dual antenna angled at 90deg or 180deg also same, rssi not strong and not full up to 100%. 2- 1st flight done. Manual & Balance mode is fine,if switched to RTH mode the Bixler just circling above me at 50ft+-, it wont self land to runway(as i set during power up the plane on the middle of the field).. i did adjust the Rth/Rad Pot clockwise till it stop.as illustrated in zohd manual. 3- second flight. Tried change rf protocol to Frsky,D16 8Ch.and tried both style angled antenna( 90° & 180°), still didnt get full rssi to 100 during sit on runway.just got under 77db.. Managed to fly around 100ft radius only, during last landing ive stalled the bixler and it just dive stall from 20ft height..no way to survive it😅..loll Conclusion: what is not right about it? Did i missed setup something on Tx16s that i just bought new? Kopilot unit- RTH function didnt land the plane, is it just thats all? The day before, i did try out other setups: elrs mode. Jumper Aion mini tx module & Jumper Aion mini 2.4 Rx(pwm).. only ch a.e.t.r did work, but ch5 for use the flight mode is not work..anyway i did not have access to see the Aion mini Rx pwm signal graph,as my laptop is not compatible to download the Expresslrs Configurator(mine is Windows8, popup blocked says didnt have 64-bit to run it)🤦🏻♂️ Or should i try my other ORX receivers tats laying around? Got a Orx R610Lite v2, a Orx NanoRx ppm rx, a JR R721 and a R921 rx sets.. Btw/: i will be need to have at least 7or8 useable channels to run also an fpv pantilt 2servo gimbal. Will someone please help me out...?😭 Ill be really appreciate your help.
I've been flying the 4-in-1 for a few years with my best airplanes and helis. I've never had an issue with range. I haven't done specific testing other than having logged hundreds of flights and recording 0 radio link issues.
They stand behind their products, they have US based service centers, they have a full pipeline of replacement parts. I've personally seen many many occasions where RM stepped-up and helped even when I don't believe the issue was theirs.
Great video and your are the master of this radio. I know you have a video of you flying a 700 size heli so this radio can do that for sure. Is there a way we could talk by phone so I could learn how to program this radio for a heli. I have the edge TX set up on the radio and I'm using the touch screen. Your help would be greatly appreciated. I currently use spectrum and they already have the mixing already setup.
I think we could save a lot of time if we could do a phone call. Thank you for all the help you gave me. I just want to understand so there are on big mistakes.
@@RCVideoReviews I’ve had an intermittent unresolved key stuck error on my tx16s. I think the upgraded mk II will solve it. Next, I’ll be watching your videos in migrating from open tx to edge tx!
Intermittent issues are the hardest to track down. You might be able to hunt it down by unplugging individual key "board" connections like the 6p switch and leaving it off for a few days to see if it goes away. I've had that one, it's hard to track down.
@@RCVideoReviews hey, you’re so awesome at helping I figure you deserve some follow up on the problem. The page up key is stuck. I went to the debug page in settings to see the 0/1 of the switches. You taught me this trick about a year ago. I tried out the replacement part I got back then. The same key is stuck on the replacement part! Page up stays at 1 when everything else changes from 0 to 1 when I press. How unlucky is that?
The only problem I have with my TX16S is that it does not have reverse polarity protection but I'm going to add that circuit. The pots on it suck. Very cheap and wobbly, but I don't use the pots or sliders so no big deal for me. I wish they would paint the buttons so I can see what the buttons are.
Hi, congratulations for your very good analysis of the differences between both versions, this is indeed a deep dive... I get one question/concern about the markII audio jack. When I plug an earphone, I get a perfect sound in the earphones but there is a remaining half volume sound from the internal loudspeaker... I opened my radio and could check there are 2 loudspeakers one under the Rx module, the other one at the back of the radio close to the jack. On my radio, it seems the upper loudspeaker is not switched off when plugging in the earphones. Am I the only one ?
Thanks for the comment on the review. I'm not sure about the audio jack as I've never used it. Maybe someone else can chime in. If not, you can always check with Radiomaster.
I literally just purchased my tx16s. So I definitely won't be upgrading my entire radio. I am interested in the s1 and s2 pits upgrade board. I don't like how wobbly they are. Question, does the charging port on the bottom of the v1 radio balance the cells powering the radio? I have the goldish cnc version with the brown straps on the sides if that matters.
Yes, the radio balances the 2s battery. That would be a big foul up if it didn't. Edit: I have to re-state. I ASSUME the radio balances the battery, I've never actually checked. However, it would be enough of a colossal miss that the Internet would have broken were it discovered the radio didn't balance the battery--so I never felt the urge to validate.
Great Review. I have a couple of questions would appreciate your response. Unfortunately I bought the older version early March, it was badly misassembled so had to return and finally I received a working one in the beginning of April. Now I am feeling bad since I literally purchased a brand new radio which is already outdated. Companies should be a bit more discrete on the upcoming versions. 1. Mine came with the same gimbals as these v4's (looks the same and the circuit board has mag v2.3 on it). I guess they updated it early on, they seem sensitive and center very well. 2. The S1/2 rotating buttons are somewhat stiff on mine, has much less play than your mark 1( maybe they also upgraded it in between mark 1 to ii I see that eachine version already had those). The mid indent is strong but I would say the overall feel is still worse than even an entry level radio like flyskyi6. 3. The low resolution ls/rs sucks but then with such a short travel and location of these sliders I wonder if this is a big deal. I think the additional resolution is just a result of potentiometer range. 4. The roller is running perfect on mine similar to your mk2, no matter how fast I roll, it never skips or moves in the wrong direction. But it is the old one so I don't know about longevity. 5. Do you think the improvement in the board is a must have? I am seeing some voltage oscillation while charging the 5000mah Radiomaster pack and it sags a bit. Maybe that is because of 21700 cells. Should I simply sell it, eat the loss and preorder a mark 2? Once again thank you for the detailed review.
To directly answer your question: No. Now let's chat: Left/Right sliders--they can easily be swapped out when replacements hit the market, but this is only worth the effort if you have a requirement for additional resolution. i.e. I use mine for flaps and gear. For flaps, I need three points of resolution. For gear, two. That use case wouldn't justify a change. If I were still flying FPV planes with pan and tilt assigned to sliders, that would be a different story as pan and tilt would benefit from full resolution. Rotary wheel: If you have no beef...then this is immaterial. Charging: It's nice that it charges at a stable charge rate, but PRACTICALLY speaking, this will never really matter to me as I usually plug my radios in the night before I go fly and they last all day long. I've never sat and watched the radio and said, "finally, it's ready to go". S1/S2: If you have enough motivation to change them based on how they feel, wait for the spares. It's so easy to change components inside this radio, pots are no exception. Bottom line, nothing you said warrants a change from an objective point of view. That said, I always *just want* the lates stuff. So if my budget allows, I upgrade. That's no objective though, that's a subjective decision.
Somewhere between the MKI and MKII launches they did a refresh. I'm not sure what sensor those pre-MKII gimbals use though. As far as I know, the MKII is the first radio to get the AG01 sensor.
When I bought your Kaos 60 I used your Radiomaster and I liked the feel of it. I currently use an NX 6 which is OK but U have just about convinced me to get a RadioMaster Tx. I am ok pilot who flys sport planes, some scale including warbirds, no interest in 3D or FPV. I understand that I can use my current Spektrum and Spektrum compatible receivers. Do I have to buy a battery for this receiver? I do not plan to do too much fancy stuff, obviously throttle cut, stabilization, dual rates, Expo, some mixing. I hope these functions are not too difficult to program. Thanks for all u do for this hobby. Wish I lived close to the flying field u now use.
Yes, you need to buy a battery. It comes with an 18650 tray which accepts 2x18650 cells, or they also sell a 5000MAH and 6000MAH that both work without modification. I have LOTS of videos to help you learn how to use this radio. How's the Kaos doing?
@@RCVideoReviews I ended up trading it for a couple of other planes which I regret I did get the Kaos 40 a year ago now discontinued. It is designed only for glow or gas motors and modifying it for electric was a chore and I had to start over. Tomorrow, weather permitting, I will maiden it. I fly it on a Cobra 3520 820 kv with 4S.
HI, Nice video! Thanxfor putting all the effort in! Do you know if parts of the MK1 are interchangeble with the MKII? Particularly all the metal-bling alu-cnc parts I already have for the MK1 and the leather grips? Appreciate you view on this.
Most of them are. There are some differences in the backplate (audio jack and battery cover). The leather grips fit fine. The backgrips are not interchangeable. I've swapped the scroll wheel and nav buttons from a MKI to a MKII without issue. The AG01's are interchangeable, so I believe all gimbal related parts will probably be interchangeable.
Rear speaker also not new. If you were gonna compare this new radio to one of their most recent radios it would be good to have them both so your not pointing out things as “new “ when they are not
Hi John, I know you have both the original T16s and the Eachine version. How does the Mk2 compare to the Eachine version, the Eachine T16s I have, has most of the improvements such as the sticks, pots, sliders etc. so I'm just curioua.
Pots on the Eachine feel the same as on MKII. Siders are totally different. Sliders on Eachine feel like MKI, on MKII they have legit detent. Mechanically the gimbals look the same. Not sure if the Eachine sensor is the same as AG01.
@@RCVideoReviews Cheers John. I'm quite happy with both of them although if you get the chance a short video of how to swap the Eachine from mode 2 to mode 1 would be appreciated. I fly mode 2 for helis and mode 1 for planes and will need to swap the Eachine shortly for my fixed wing stuff for when the weather picks up. I suspect it's not difficult but a walk through would be a great help.
I have the TX16S MK2 on order, and really want to fix the low volume issue as soon as it arrives. I haven't done any file updating on a device like this. Could you do a quick how to on replacing those sound files, or if it already exists, where it is? Your videos have been extremely helpful as I get ready to dive into this new high end transmitter world.
Go here: github.com/EdgeTX/edgetx-sdcard-sounds/releases/tag/v2.5.3 Download your language file (en for english). Open the ZIP Connect your radio to PC Delete from Radio SD card: /SOUNDS/en Copy from the zip SOUNDS/en to /SOUNDS/ on SD card Done. This is basic file management and not really something I would make into a standalone video.
Can you check what new TX16s MkII parts can be used on the original TX16s ? the pots and such seems obvius that they'll work. But could you find out if it would be opossible(With new AG01 gimbals) to use the new flat front plates on the original TX16s?
I'm not sure I follow your question. "With new AG01 gimbals....to use the new flat front plates with the MK1". The new gimbals fit in the MK1. I took my AG01's out of a MK1 and put them in the MKII. I took the gimbals from the MKII and put them in the MK1. The beauty plates are not interchangeable between AG01's and the v4 gimbals.
@@RCVideoReviews Mostly, is it possible, "IF" and when they sell it individually, to mount the new flat CNC alu front on an old TX16S. granted none of the controllers you have got the alu frotn plate(so far, I think you have to buy the getfpv og MCK version to get the CNC front). whihc is probably one of the reasons it's a lot more expensive, along with AG01.
Thanks for the clarification. I expect they'll work together but not sure. You can send an email to info@radiomasterrc.com and they will be able to answer this one. Or you can ask them directly on my discord.
Thanks for the great review. FYI, I noticed that the link you provided to the RadioMaster website, they are showing that it comes with the foldable handle.
ELRS is Express LRS. It's a Lora based RF protocol on 2.4ghz. 4-in-1 lets you bind the TX16s to just about any mainstream protocol including FrSky and DSM + a host of proprietary quad protocols.
Thry are same gimbals. I purchased my T-16s a month ago from Helidirect and it has same exact gimbals. My buddy purchased his same radio a few months prior to mine and his has the older gimbals without the adjustment holes. Looks like some of the last M1 radios shipped with the new gimbals luckily.
