In this video I'll show why we setup dual rates on the inputs screen and not the mixer.

this should be the first video anyone sees when they buy the tx16s... it's so helpful and for more than just dual rates. Really for the basis of all model configs.

An other video is missing: Negative values of weight should be used in mixer but must not be used in input (unless you want to have the trim moving to the wrong direction). With other words: since openTX and also in edgeTX we recogniced that the trims are not reversed while the sticks are reversed using negative values of weight in the inputs.
@RCVideoReviews

It is true you shouldn't use negatives in inputs for that reason. I actually recently learned that the hard way.

Wow, I didn't know that about the trims. That seems like a fixable bug to me, or at least should be a user setting.

Great video. However, I wonder why everyone who creates a video on the Inputs screen with multiple options have a switch assigned to all options? The issue I see with this is, what happens if the switch settings do not cover all possible switch positions? In you example, what if you had the switch be SA center and SA up and nothing for SA down (I suspect this would be a common rooky mistake)? I think this would result in a problem (no input selected, stuck at 0%) until you realize that you need to put the switch in a valid position. Am I wrong about this? I find that the easy way to make sure this never happens is leave the bottom option with no switch selected. On the input screen (behaves different on the mix screen), OpenTX and EdgeTX picks the first line that has a matching switch so if the last line has none, a line with no switch option will act as a catch all and be use when the switch does not match any of the above. What do you think of this? If this is a good idea, why does no one on RU-vid tell people to do this? If it is a bad idea, why is it bad? Might be a good video to address this. Let me know if you have questions and/or need clarification about this.

on top of, if applied DR on mixer and if mixer use inputs and not sticks then you apply the DR also to trim for sure nobody want that ;o) then definitively DR must be applied to inputs

Can you do a video on how to assign the same dual rates, but using the rotating knobs on the top of the radio master? I'm still trying to figure out how to do that with dual rates and gyro settings. It would be nice to rotate the knob at the top from 0 to 100%.

Quality video as usual, thanks. But no mention of using Flight Modes and variables to define rates/expo. Reduces input lines even more. Maybe that would make it seem more complicated to people starting out?
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews Год назад
You'll find with Edge/OpenTX there are usually many ways to accomplish a task. I present the methods I believe are most practical and in-line with developer intentions. Certainly flight modes are an option if you want to add that layer of configuration.
@stevep4131
@stevep4131 Год назад
@@RCVideoReviews I kinda suspect the developers intended us to use Flight Modes.. you have a switch to select a Flight Mode which defines the value in a variable which is used as a rate or expo setting in one single input line. But probably best for beginners to start out as you demonstrate in your video.
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews Год назад
None of the new model options including "create new model" or the wizard utilize flight modes. All of them utilize inputs. Also, the developers watch this channel and I communicate with them pretty regularly, so, I'll stick with my conviction the intent is to use inputs. But like we say around here: Your money, your hobby...do your thing.

I didn't do anything in particular. Lately my demos have been done with EdgeTX 2.8 release candidates, so maybe that's what you're seeing. The only other things I've done are they I typically use my RCVR Patriotic theme and I've made my own backgrounds/splash images. That's it. No black magic.

Loved this video and I have reworked my dual rates. One question though, how does this work with dual ailerons? At the moment I have two inputs both with dual rates set. Is there a way to map my second input to my other aileron channel to pick up the same rates?
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews 3 месяца назад
Why dual inputs for ailerons? That's kind of the point. Use one input for ailerons and apply that input to two mix lines.

Yes I worked that out as well after the video and trying it out. It wasn't obvious to me at least. I now have 1 input for both channels, so.much easier. Again thanks for the video it made me stop and think about my lack of understanding .

Nice video as usual. I have a question that not related to your topic but hopefully you can help me. I just bound a radiomaster TX16s with a lemon RX receiver. When I give elevator input it moves in the right direction, however when they give aileron input, also gives elevator elevator input. I did not do anything else but bind the transmitter. Do you know what I am doing wrong please
@RCVideoReviews

The mixer is where controls are matched to pins on the Rx. I'd. look there. You might consider removing all mix lines and re-adding them 1 by 1.

What if you're setting up expo on one switch, and rates on a separate switch? I like to have my expo and rates individually togglable. Wouldn't you need to use the inputs for one, and mixer for the other? I currently have my expo setup on my inputs, and rates on my mixer.
@Loochy808
@Loochy808 Год назад
@@EnglishTurbines I'm not sure I agree with that. They accomplish two different things. I can think of situations where you would want access to either or. Primarily when trying to tune in an aircraft. Setting both on separate switches allows you to try multiple combinations to find which rate settings are best on a new aircraft, and which expo they should be combined with. Just my opinion...
@Loochy808
@Loochy808 Год назад
you get your throws 100% dialed before your maiden every time? Consider me skeptical... Regardless, I'd maintain there is an advantage to being able to adjust your throws on the fly, individually of your expo. I fail to see the argument for less adjustability over more, unless you're just trying to simplify your settings. But hey, if you've got all that experience that shouldn't be a worry now chap.
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews Год назад
I would never start with 90% expo on a sport plane. No more than 70% initially on a 3D plane. Rates are perfectly useful and are commonly used. 90% expo just sounds like a terrible idea as the center would be terribly flat.
@Loochy808
@Loochy808 Год назад
@@RCVideoReviews agreed. 90% expo seems like it would be unflyable. I'm usally in the 0 - 35% range on my planes depending on the model and how the rates are setup.

Nope, just control surfaces where you may want more than one set of rates. Usually the ONLY thing I add to inputs are control surfaces which includes flaps.

I'm having a hell of a time trying to configure a two receiver setup. I can't find any info on how to assign channels to the second receiver.
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews Год назад
Channels are assigned during the bind process. You should see channel ranges on the bind page and when you start the bind for protocols like D16, it will even ask what range of channels and whether you want telemetry on or off.
@xrae21
@xrae21 Год назад
@@RCVideoReviews Correct. I'm binding both receivers at the same time with channel range of 1-12. I'm using two 6 channel dsm receivers. The First receiver all 6 channels work flawlessly. The second rx I can't get any to work. I've assigned channel 7-12 to work via a switchs and it doesn't. Same with a sliders. I'm new to edgetx and I'm sure it's a programming issue on my end. Was hoping to actually find a video walking me through how to set it up so I could see what I'm doing wrong. Anyways I'm the first person in my area that wants to fly radiomaster on 30-40% planes

@@RCVideoReviews i have other radios that only has a mixer page and everything is done on that page and to me its just simple to have one page or screen to do everything instead of going to different pages/screens but i dont use dual rates either. i think more pages or screens make things more complicated than they need to be. i think someone needs to tell microsoft that since it takes more screens and clicks to do same task in windows 11 than it did before..😀

I've set my eratix this way (usually I setup my rates using GV). But my problem now is that subtrims do not go along with the individual rates. If i set the trim correctly for normal rates, when i switch to high rates, all goes out of wack. How to fix this? Much appreciated.
