Impressions and take-aways of first 250 miles on my RadRover 6 Plus RadPower Bikes, RadRover, electric bicycle, ebike #ebikes #electricbike #radpower #radrover #poprivet Zefal mirror link, www.walmart.co...
I'm 64 and I bought a rad rover a year ago and I love it. I've got just about a thousand miles on mine now . I still have original tires I change brake pads at like 800 miles And I'm ready now for a chain and a cassette the bike shop told me. I'd say that's pretty normal for a electric bike. It's the most versatile bike you can buy I ride mine in 4 or 5 in of fresh snow and I can go on the beach in the sand and I can go off of any obstacle without hurting my fragile back. I did get a suspension seat for it that help my back a lot. I'm in Boston and there's a lot of bike paths and greenspace to ride. What part of New England are you in ? Take care I'll be looking for more videos. I have a couple rad Rover videos up on my channel.
Nice going! Yes, versatile they are, no doubt about that. Go anywhere, anytime. My next video will speak to their versatility, so keep watching. Will check you out from a neighboRIng state.
I have an older 2016 Radrover and ride all year in the southwest. I really like the ebike because I can ride and get exercise even in stiff winds of 20-25 mph that would sideline the average rider on a pedal bike. Another bonus is you can ride faster to cool yourself off more when the temps are +95 degree F.
Hi Pop, just wanted to say I've really enjoyed your videos on the RadRover 6+. I've been thinking of getting one, and seeing your assembly video and your reviews and thoughts has been really helpful in making my own decisions to purchase one. Thank you for the fun, clear way you present everything. Subscribed and will be following for all your adventures (biking, or otherwise). Would you mind sharing what brand/model of side mirror you got for the bike? I'd also be curious to hear what you think about the seat. Have you felt the desire to replace it for more comfort?
Hi, I'm happy you enjoy the content. I love getting out on my Rover and sharing my interests with good folks like you. I find the seat comfortable enough for my needs. But at my weight, I'm not exactly pushing its limits 😉 The mirror can be found at: www.walmart.com/ip/Zefal-Bike-Mirror-with-LED-Bike-Light-Universal-Handlebar-Fit-Battery-Included/624552223
Just had mine out today and need to tune the derailleur. It will not go to 1st or 2nd gear. I have a maintenance stand coming tomorrow so I can attempt the tune. I liked your comments. I put mine easily on a Hollywood SE Sport rack on the back of my Silverado.
My derailleur was way off on delivery too. Bottom limit screw was 95% out and the top was buried. No way someone would have set it up like that. My guess is a supply shortage on the normal component and a hack job of assembly. I’m glad it was an easy fix. My problem has been the rear brake. I get a harmonic vibration/rattle at certain speeds that I cannot adjust out. The bike has been great, but it needed a major tuneup before it was fun to ride.
@@alexnelson8 Raise rear wheel off ground so it spins freely. From the rear, watch the rotor as the wheel spins and ensure it runs evenly between the brake pads. If it touches one pad and then the other, it's misaligned.
@@PopRivetChannel I have done the alignment for the rear brake a few times. Since they are hydraulic there isn’t much adjustment available. I have the pads centered really well, but the clearance isn’t quite wide enough. I may have to take them off and bend them out a bit.
I got a Rad 5 recently. brakes and derailleur were not set properly at the factory. had a bike tech adjust my bike to proper specs. might suggest you do the same if you assemble yourself. I don't shift. I leave gear at 4. I also sometimes ride no power on level surfaces. great exercise.
Congrats on your ebike choice! You may find my videos on Unboxing and Assembly of interest. Give them a Like if you like. You'll also find a link for a Rad discount you can apply to you purchase.
I just got my RadRover 6 plus ready to go late evening and found the key is only used to that the battery out. They went backwards. My 2019 RadRover 5 had a keyed switch the also turned of the the bike electronics. Now with the Rad Rover 6, when you park it in front of a store you lock it up, but if the battery is left in anyone can turn on the bike by simply hitting the power button...I can see it now, they twist the throttle and your back wheel starts to turn and the U-lock wipes out all of your spokes. The 2017 Rad City had this same stupid battery only switch. Go figure. I haver 15 days to return it what a pain
I must admit disappointment at learning the key only unlocked the battery. Hmm, let's see: go to store, lug in 7 lb battery, buy 1 lb loaf of bread... Brilliant!
Hi, thanks for the review. I’m waiting for delivery of the same bike. Do you find the suspension fork sufficient in it’s travelling. It’s allowing 60 mm compare to 80mm on the Rad rover 5?
Hi there. It's a Zefal mirror and can be purchased at www.walmart.com/ip/Zefal-Bike-Mirror-with-LED-Bike-Light-Universal-Handlebar-Fit-Battery-Included/624552223
Hope this is the answer you want. If you don't use pedal assist the motor is not engaged, therefore, the battery will maintain its charge. However, pedaling a heavy ebike is rather difficult without power assistance.
Your range varies depending on a number of factors like terrain, pedal assist, throttle use, and more. At my normal assist level of 1, I typically get over 50 miles per charge.
Rad city has a direct drive motor and regenerative braking, Rad Rover has a geared hub motor. City will be better for cruising on pavement where hills are mild. Rover will go all terrain and tackle bigger hills (though not as well as a mid drive bike) and lacks regenerative braking.
@@frankvehafric5062 Thanks. Please correct me if I am wrong, don't all the rads have the rear-hub motor? I am talking about the newest models such as city 5 and rr6+
I think they got tired of the flack they were getting and actually put a 750 motor in the 6 plus, though I wouldn't swear to it. They were pretty snotty when I tried to get them to explain why my Rover 6 seemed to have a 500 watt motor in it. For a company with an otherwise excellent reputation, it was a fairly sleazy thing to do. That said, I like the Rover well enough, it's a nice riding bike, but every time I get on it I think about that damn motor.
