It's ok but I still think my letric xp 2.0 kicks ass Especially with the upgraded Freewheel from the 11:28 to the 12:34 it's a hill climbing beast

Just purchased on June 20th, 2024, I worked for 2 days and have stopped working, Customer Support has not been helpful, and has been unresponsive. They thought it was the controller, ordered it, on July 6th, and as of July 9th it has not been sent out yet. And I have to take the bike apart and fix it. I called a service center (the closest was 2 hours away) and they felt it was the motor. They have not been helpful, as it is so big, I can't transport it and would have to hire a van and drive 2 hours each way to get it to a service center. So, if anything goes wrong with the bike as in my situation, and you're not close to a service center nor have a vehicle large enough to transport this bike, as of the date of this writing, you are screwed. And good luck speaking with someone with authority to make decisions.

The pic of the hill was a major plus! Can't tell how steep a hill is on almost all reviews. Good review.

if i had to buy an electric bike this would be the one over all the other ones I've seen reviewed in the past year. But i have 3 old school bikes and while we got a Trek for my wife i just can't justify an electric bike for myself yet

Just bought two of these. These gets up to speed easily and the range is as advertised, if you stay in level 1 and use 2/3 just for the hills. Very enjoyable to ride. Two negatives though. I broke the front axle when assembling the bike. This was due to it being over torqued before delivery to me. The company recognizes some bikes have this issue and provided the procedure to get the broken part off and mailed the replacement axle free of charge. We did wait 4 days to receive the replacement. If the axle does not come off easily that's the issue. I would recommend wd40 to help avoid breaking it in the first place but avoid spray contact with the brake rotor if going that route. 2nd issue is installation of the front basket. You are basically disassembling the front end to get the front cables out of the way. Thats disappointing when you have just assembled the bike and now the removal of the gear and brake cables is needed to get at the 4 screws needing installation for this accessory.

WD40 is not a lubricant.

I'm curious about the location of the water bottle cage bolts, appears to be obstructed by the frame. Is it even possible to access a bottle?

I have this bike. First off, it came with a piece of plastic that attached to the front axle. It wouldn't come off. I feel like the bike doesn't give full power in each of the assist settings. For instance, at level five, sometimes I only get 350 watts of assistance when the bike is 750 watts. My main complaint is its weight. It's very heavy, especially the front end. Other than that, It's a good bike.

Fantastic Video! Is there anyway to attach a seat on this bike for my 4 year old to ride with me?

Cadence sensors should be illegal, they are way less sensitive and give way too much power/speed then needed...might as well only have a throttle... Too bad the racks are not MIK...MIKis so convenient...

Some electric unicycle and surron riders are snobs, they actually think they are better then ebike riders, they think they need to go faster then 28 mph all the time...there is no reason to...

The step-over height of 22 to 24 inches is a killer for me. Those of us that need a step-over bike, need one that is actually a step-over bike. Unfortunately, this is not a step-over. Even at 6'4", I don't want to step over a 24 inch high bar. My current step-over is 18" high and that's plenty. We recently purchased a Benno 46er, with a design similar to the Radster, and its step over is 20" high - that's my limit. I do understand that an age 20 or 30 year old can balance on one leg and step over the bar, but not many of us over age 50 can. Someday arthritis will catch up with you guys and you will know what I mean. That's too bad, because the over-50 age bracket buys many if not the majority of the e-bikes currently being sold in North America. I can see that this bike does work for the age 30 mom or dad that want to be able to put a kid in a carrier on the back and not kick them climbing on the bike. If that small market segment is the group Rad Power is aiming at, I guess it works. I really like what Rad Power has done with their e-bikes otherwise. The battery safety and torque sensor improvements are both the way to go. I don't care about a throttle, as in my mind, that's a holdover from the cadence sensor days, but I realize buyers new to e-bikes don't know that - yet.

When your chain breaks you’ll love the throttle. Rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

@@forgetyourlife Interesting. We have over 45,000 miles combined on several e-bikes. One with 17,000 miles. Never had a chain or belt break.

@@tedbellWRV lol, I sure hope your replacing those regularly. Life of a gearing chain (thinner than single speed chains) is about 1000Mi with good cadence. Anyway, they do break occasionally for a number of reasons, Mid drives especially. My point is I’d rather have a throttle and not use it than need it and not have it. The throttle is also very helpful in getting through an intersection quickly from a dead stop.

@@forgetyourlife Yeah, I know all about that. (I have 40+ years experience maintaining chains, cogs, etc.) So I mostly use belts now. Chains are from the stone age.

how did you get the battery to show percentage level instead of status bars?

Rad loves to have low “introductory” price at 1st for RU-vid reviews then months later the price goes up.

Just not impressed with this new Radster Road e-bike and its design. That cross bar was the first thing that stuck me as plain ugly. It looks very primitive which doesn't help the looks of the e-bike. Surely they could of done a better job on this and the overall disign....my two cent critique.

That is honestly fair. Coming from an Aventon level this bike looks goofy in comparison. I would have loved a darker color, but Its hill climbing and feature set 100% make up for it. it looks and feels more premium in person.

I just went to the rad showroom and it looks much better in person. To be honest, most e-bikes looks pretty terrible and goofy with this desperate attempt to stand out from other manufacturers, that usually come from the same region of China anyway.
