RAF Chinook Deployed to Help ‘Critical’ Whaley Bridge Dam

An RAF Chinook has begun dropping one-tonne sandbags on a collapsed section of wall on the Whaley Bridge Dam.
Engineers say despite their efforts to pump away water and support the dam wall the structure is at a ‘critical’ point, and fears remain the dam could collapse.
As many as 6000 residents from Whaley Bridge have been evacuated as a precaution.

Wait didn't We already see this exact similar spillway failure at the U.S. dam Oroville in California back in 2017. I'm sure they heard of that in England and should have learned a lesson from that because this dam has the same similar telltale signs of failure years before ( old concrete, cracks in concrete with vegetation growing out of them) How can you inspect this dam and say it's okay. It should have been redone at least a year ago

I'm guessing this is in the UK. I won't Google it. This is like driving in an unfamiliar big city and getting to an intersection of a large Blvd. with no street name sign because most people know the name. That's not been a problem since I moved to Canada, but that is common in the US.
