The amount of discipline and co-ordination it takes to fly in formation is this adverse environment is extraordinary. Thanks for the remarkable visual record of this event.
I remember many moons ago when the Red Arrows came across the pond and did an airshow in the States, at Andrews AFB. Really cool stuff, nice to see they do the loop too!

They are finally touring the US this year and I will get to see them at the Great Pacific Airshow in Huntington Beach Ca in October. Cant wait! Seen Frecce, Patrouille, Vikings, Snowbirds, and the Blues and T-Birds, and have been wanting to see the Reds for ages.

The Red Arrows flew at Alliance in Texas one year. They took the place of (I think) the Thunderbirds, who couldn't be there. Really interesting to see a performance by a group this size.
Every 5 years or so they do a North America tour. My Dad was a RAAF Roulette back in the 80s and ended up at Cathay with a bunch of ex reds flying airliners. I've got a pic from the 80s of the Red Arrows and a Concord over Niagara falls, signed by Red #1 at the time whose kid was a class mate of mine in primary school.
Thankyou Elwyn, yet another great vid, i was with them at Bristol Airport chatting to them 2 weekends ago as they were doing both days at Weston super mare, and they mentioned then, they would use Mach loop when transiting north to a display in north wales and vis a vis for the displays down south west area of the uk, so that should, if you go on their website, give you an idea when they maybe going through Mach Loop, hope it helps and keep up the good work.
Right we're going through the Mach loop in tight formation...lowerer than anyone else...and Red 7 do try and keep it tighter this time...bloody brilliant

I remember a display they did in Douglas for part of the IoM TT week. I was leaning out of my rented flats bedroom looking down on them as they thundered down the Promenade.
This is beautiful :) Reds are so amazing. Strange though: there are 10 of them, and wikipedia says that Red Arrows are always 9 pilots and they have no spare pilots, so if one cannot fly - the don't fly.
RAF is second to none.. however original? Seems they were formed in 1964 or 65..TBirds and BA are about 18 yrs. older. Like most of the European air forces,as an american, I'm glad we are on the same side..kiwis oz skorea japan and our good neighbor Canada all are second to none.. keep em flying!
La Patrouille de France is the oldest still going, I believe. That said, pretty sure on the occasions that pilots from squadrons met each other they didn't try to start pissing contests. "The best XXX in the world just happens to come from _my_ country. Coincidence, I know."
I was in wales this week! as it was bank holiday I went to the beach thinking no planes were flying and missed these! pretty annoyed. but good rest of the week especially yesterday herc, 2 tornadoes, 3 typhoons, 2 f-15s , 3 hawks so overall good holiday!
American pilots came over to the UK to do low flying exercises and said is it ok to fly down to 200ft and the RAF said yes that's ok but don't go any lower ,the Americans said no way we're not flying any lower than that ! But they said why not below 200ft and the RAF said because below '150 is where our guys fly ! !
The 10th plane is both a spare, and has a reserve pilot. Sometimes it is used as a camera plane for in flight pic opportunities of the 9. Not sure if the pilot from it may also be the ground commentator during some displays when not needed,. too . . .
Again, Awesome video. But a question, why so many air force jets through here. Is it on an approach to an airbase? Or are all these planes (incredibly diverse as well) just practicing certain techniques? Anyway, I can't imagine a more beautiful spot to view them.Thank you !!
