RAF TYPHOON ‘BLACKJACK’ FIRST PUBLIC DISPLAY | Midlands Air Festival 2021

New for the 2021 display season (and to also be used for the 2022 season), the RAF Typhoon Display Team have painted their display jet in the colours of the Union Flag which they have named ‘blackjack’.
This display at the Midlands Air Festival was the first public display of the ‘blackjack’ livery after it was unveiled just over a week ago at the Typhoon display team’s base - RAF Coningsby.

Looks great. It works like camouflage in reverse. Highlights every line on the aircraft.

I used to work in Preston, and park up for my butties near Wharton and watch these things doing landing/ takeoff/ manouvering . Most entertaining. I'd love to be in when they sit it on its tail and go vertical!!!

Since living in Akrotiri in 1984-1987 and watching the red arrows train every winter and them still flying basically the same Hawks. It's time they get an upgrade so we can show the world we have the best display team with old underpowered Hawks and this is what we can do with some power in the Eurofighter.

It is quite hard to get a dull, underwhelming livery with red, white and blue to use. I think the designer managed it though. Well made video, thank you.

Great video, I attended on the Friday for the more relaxed air festival. Rather than the most impressive jet fighters. I have uploaded a little video on RU-vid with the highlights; for me, being the *Red Arrow* s display and the *Hot Air Balloon* accent and *night glow* . Hope you enjoy that as much as this. Cant wait to go next year, think I will do the full weekend and a spot of glamping! haha :) Just hope the weather is as good as the Fridays this year!

Is this display what me and a mate saw last month above RAF Coningsby? We'd gone to see AVRO Lancaster NX611 Just Jane taxi and run the engines up and on the way back called in at Coningsby to see what was about and both our jaws hit the ground to see a display like this from a lone (standard grey)Typhoon! I got it on film but sadly as it was the first time i'd used my new external mic and forgotten to turn it on, my video is silent...

Yep that would have been the same pilot practicing his display! This aircraft would have been in the paint shop then.
