Good Lord! Thanks Dafydd. The switch into high AoA after the roll - the hanging posture. It's eerie, predatory, wonderful! All the best to you x. Edit: oops - pilot you're amazing!
Great video! For those in the know: Is there a term for the moment when one can just see the silhouette of an aircraft, but it's not clear if it's traveling towards you or away?
@@DafyddPhillips I'm surprised at my memory lapse, cos you were obviously there and the view I had from Totterdown on validation day was pretty unforgettable
Hope this link below clears up the purpose of the invasion stripes on aircraft. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invasion_stripes Personally I think the paintwork is stunning tribute to those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom today.
Bit of an idiotic comment from you, don't you think? Those B/W stripes were used for a reason in WW2 and more specificially for the D-Day landings and the invasion of Europe by the Allied forces. They were used to help differentiate any Allied aircraft so there would be no "friendly fire" incidents. Likening them to "go faster stripes" is somewhat of an insult for pilots in WW2 flying those aircraft with the stripes. Thanks for your input and I hope the link that @DafyddPhillips put in his comment enlightens you, but somehow I doubt it.
