Raft Fishing Into the Wilderness to fish a beautiful Stream full of rainbows

Ken and I used a raft to get into a very remote part of New Zealand for some Adventure fly fishing. This small stream was full of trout and although the condition of them was not the best, they all made the indicator go under and the rods bend. We used a simple Nymphing rig to get these Rainbows, with a unweighted point fly off the dropper. This is a very effective rig for new Zealand water. Looks like a nice what I would call a mid-April day on the trout stream. Being in the North East of the US. We are slowly drifting to winter, Heavy rain the next couple of days. Rifle Deer Season starts Nov 1 for me. If I had the money, I would take off right after deer season, and fly down to NZ and hang out till the End of March. I am sure that I would not be bored!

Hey George. yeah I hear you are about to get some cold weather. I think this winter is going to be a bit nasty for you guys. :( Do you have some decent trout fishing where you are? What type of fresh water fish are there. Yes we have great water and lots of it but you guys have more variety of fish over there to play with. This was pretty much the start of our season, so October. The water was still a bit high as like all other countries in the world we have had lots of rain. March is a great month for us. All the trout are fat from Cicadas and other terrestrials and the rivers are nice and low. Thanks for the comment George. Tight lines.
