I go rafting on 2 wild Newfoundland rivers with my wife. It's her first ever packrafting trips. The adventures take place in Newfoundland, Canada. The 1st trip is on Great Rattling Brook. The 2nd (the following weekend) is on the island's largest waterway, the 246km Exploits River. I use a Kokopelli Hornet Lite raft while Heather uses an Alpacka Classic Mule Raft.

You have a winning format having Heather along. I think you will really expand your audience showing wives/girlfriends able to access your special lands and waterways in a stress-free adventure, not counting the flies. Don't forget Saku and Bear need a run a few times in the summer.

I spoke to the fine folks from Kokopelli last year and was interested in that exact raft.. didn't pull the trigger on it after, but the customer service was unbelievably great. Seemed like very good folks. 👍

Justin : Your little raft trip with Heather reminded me of a rafting trip I took with my Son and Daughter. We had planned to go rafting just my son and myself , because it was my son's Birthday . My Daughter wanted to go along also , We had 2 rafts, So We took her with us . Eastern Shore of NS.. May 1st .It was raining that day . We got out of the car and inflated the rafts . We gave Chistie the Kyak paddle because I thought it would be easier for her since she had never paddled a boat before.. 1st thing she did was fall in trying to get in the raft . Up to her chest in freezing cold water. So finally we got that mess worked out . Off we went ....or so we thought . Myself and my son 1st. Christie behind us . When I looked back to see how Christie was she was no where to be found . So back we went . We found her still at the shore. She was paddling around in circles and couldn't go anywhere ! I tied a rope to her bow and We dragged her across the lake to an Island in the rain We made a camp fire on the island and had hotdogs , then made our way back to the car and went home . Well so much for that hiking trip . Next time we went out , We DIDDNT Take her . A least Heather was better than that ! Much better than that ! Mike ...

Repel 40 pump or can is great.. You can also get a clothing pre-treat for a a light cover top and bottom to give you a break from the bugs. Plus a screen hat helps.

Confirmed, Repel 40 is the only thing that works for black flies (midges, no-see-ums, sand flies).

Real nice no different than the Alpacka really. Bit smaller tubes than Alpacka so more water splashes is during small waves and also no spray deck but overall great lightweight raft for single and multi day trips.

I think that Island that you mentioned the Beothuck, was where the old Beothuck Museum and Village was built by Don Locke of Grandfalls, ran back in the 70s and 80s.

A grand video with you and the mrs. there bud! a word of caution with the deet, it has eaten away hammer, fishing rod , screwdriver, binocular casing, basically any thing plastic i touch with it. I have heard it say it is not so good for the liver either butt hay what do they know eh? Personally i use lavender, apple cider vinegar, catnip, spearmint and peppermint as well as white sage mix to detur the little buggers. Safe passage on your journey to all you folks and the four legged friends. Thanks again for all you share in video , heart and spirit. Peace...

That looked fun. I kinda laughed when she lost the sunglasses and you said good luck finding those. I did the same on a local river here on a small rapid. Sunglasses went flying off my hat and into the river and I just thought; there's not a hope of ever seeing those again.

Thanks and for sure we were driting pretty fast and the water was over our heads. Nearly impossible to pin point the dropping location. At least they were cheap $20 beater shades!
