they just played it too safe cause its a relatively new franchise and just because it comes from big name studios doesnt mean itll be a success, they just did the cookie cutter shit like use Doom's fast gameplay, Avalanches open world and vehicle knowledge and an un-used franchise to do that Bethesda thing where they lead you from one event to another to make some quick cash, i bet you we're not going to see a Rage 3 ever
Going all out in this game would just create bigger open world with more pointless content aka far cry. The problem is both studio didnt really have a vision what this game should be. A single director at id: Tim Willits pitched it to Bethesda after playing Just Cause and threw it at Avalanche's lap. Avalanche was... Avalanche so they made a mediocre repetitive by the number open world like they have always been doing.

I loved this game. It really was an absolute blast. Vehicle progression was done well too. You only have one car you upgrade, but then you get a mech to use if you want, a flying vehicle, and at the end of the story quests basically a tank.
