You may have heard other rap rock, but Rage was one of the first to combine the two. There’s plenty of imitators but NOBODY quite like them. And this song -like a lot of Rage’s stuff- requires some thought and analysis with regard to the lyrics. This one is about the military industrial complex.

Gotta react to “Wake Up” or “Down Rodeo” with lyrics from these guys. Zack is on another level when it comes to lyricism and word play. No ones fused rap/metal better than RATM and also have the respect of both rappers and the metal/rock community.

A few tracks on Evil Empire are just good. Best tracks are Down Rodeo, Bulls on Parade, People of the Sun, Vietnow, and Roll Right. Every track on their self titled album and Battle of Los Angeles is pure art. Read the lyrics and it makes Linkin Park look like easy listening.

welcome to the RATM Rabbit Hole! You wont regret going down it. Their self titled album and Evil Empire (which this song is from) are AMAZING, no bad songs. PLEASE do any song from those two albums! Been listening to them since 95, They are the most woke band to date, and 2020 is the perfect year to react to them. Trust me, there's a legion of people out there devouring RATM reactions. This may have been said before, but this song is about 90's American politics, which talked about the strength of the American Family and Family Values (Rally 'Round the Family), while the goverment was funneling huge amounts of cash and weapons to Iran and the Contras (with a Pocket Full of Shells) and how totally separated the message and the actions were. American families were painted as idealic, while we shuffled money and guns to war zones, which ended up killing thousands of innocent people. RATM were the voice of the times for rockers and hugely supported by Public Enemy and Chuck D. in particular.

"Bulls on parade" is an old code meaning the police or the military is coming and civilians should prepare themselves. This song is a call to action to oppose the military industrial complex, which encourages war through the money-making process of signing contracts with weapons manufacturers and other companies that produce tools/products needed for war (i.e., war = a cash cow). The video uses red flags as a means to symbolize that RATM is suggesting that "bulls on parade" is not a code that we should take to mean to hide in our homes or disperse in fear of the police or military but to provoke them (as in the color red provoking a bull). Thank you for your first listen to RATM. Been listening to them since the 90s.

Dude ya Rage Against the Machine was one of the biggest bands of the 90's! Their style is like a rap-metal/punk with some funk in there. The guitarist learned how to make unique DJ scratching sounds on the guitar. So anytime you hear weird sounds, that's actually coming from the guitar 🎸. Rage Against the Machine is very political, every single song is a political statement against the whole system. This song is about the American War machine that our economic system relies on. "Weapons. Not food, not homes, not shoes. Not need, just feed the war cannibal animal.... they rally 'round the families with a pocket full of shells." We are oblivious to this fact because of everywhere we get our information from is a mind cemetery. We blindly believe in propaganda.

I found your channel because you’re doing reactions to rage against the machine. You have just stumbled across a huge library of Great music and deep lyrics. You should have no problem running out of music to react to when it comes to rage against the machine. Check out no your enemy and wake up to start with. I am a huge Linkin Park fan as well, but I really don’t like to compare the two bands because they are so different even though they both do the rap rock type of music. Let’s just say they’re both great bands!

There wouldn’t be a Linkin without RATM (Rage Against the Machine). You cannot compare them. Rage has a huge fan base but all the smack you talkin’ is going to keep some of them away. I don’t have to tell you how great Rage is. All I can say is that you will look at the world differently and have an amazing time if you keep listening to Rage and react to their lyric videos.
