It's quite satisfying to this 44 year old, to see the young bucks discovering the same music that I discovered when I was 13. It's your responsibility to show to the next generation these sounds. Keep it going. The world needs these words more than ever! 👊🤘
Something you should remember that tho RATM got blacklisted, they popped off when a lot of 3 letter agencies were basically neutered. Like this wasn’t the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s when they were backing coups in South American countries & black liberation revolutionaries were winding up dead. (Or had a bomb dropped on their whole neighborhood.) Like they still do counter intelligence against Americans but they had to start being low key about it. Like American citizens couldn’t wind up dead in America like they used to (outside the US is a different story). They’ll send FBI infiltrators into revolutionary movts, and sometimes ppl catch charges, but you’re not having fred Hampton type situations. But something else to consider is the majority of revolutionary movts were destroyed already. Like what movts we do have now are in their infancies and lack any real power. Basically they won and ppl have had to rebuild from the beginning.
I love your reactions to rage, I’ve been listening to them since the early 90’s (fuck I’m old), I love seeing younger generations find them and I hate that their message is still relevant today.
You were SPOT ON at the end!!!!!! Your first point, I’m paraphrasing, “ are these guys alright, how haven’t they been taken out? Probably because they are rock.” Rage and NWA rapped on very similar topics. NWA were constantly hassled by the cops, they just waited at their concerts for any excuse to arrest them. While Rage generally flew under the radar of the authorities. Why?? Well IMHO is because NWA was made up of black American men with the majority of their audience being black teens. Rage has one black member, one Hispanic member and two white members, with an audience of mainly white teens( back in the day, we were teens) When Zack repeats “ All of which are American dreams” like 7-8 times, you totally GOT IT!!!!! He will be heard and he will repeat it almost to the point of annoyance, but it gets your attention and you start to really listen!!!! Zack uses this tactic in many songs to get his point across.
Hello. There are multi millions of people who listen to rock n roll before and during the hip hop era turned Hollyweird industry. I know all music & have been listening for 50yrs.🔴
I love riding along on your RATM Journey!! You were right about the collab, Maynard from Tool was the singer you thought was Tom! You were hearing Brad on the drums and Tim on the bass guitar. Zack performed a song with Run the Jewels at a show a couple weeks or so ago 🤘
Political and social commentary from the voiceless that were disenfranchised with capitalism. Poetry with purpose and delivered with power. Musical transitions and vocal performance, coupled with the beat and rythm, this is why it still works.
So the history is that Tom Morello (guitar RATM) and Justin Chancellor (bass TOOL) have been friends since high school when they were in their first band together. That band must have been the sickest garage band ever ; )
I dunno about the US, but in Europe, most of us, we just got around to to the point that we can recognize that we just acted like a bunch of ignorant assholes!... I can only hope that the US isn't shameful enough to take it away from us...
Ttheir band knows how to deliver a sonic assault that leaves you craving more. Suggestion for you. October Ends' song is goinna go viral. React to it and join the hype train!
