Rock is the only thing that makes me feel human. Bands with soul is what got me through life when I thought I'd never make it. Metal saved my life for sure. Without it, I'd have gone out in a bloody mess. Things are better. But between 15-26, I held my own life in my hands many times without telling anyone. Wasn't for attention. Metal was the only thing that kept me going. I knew I wasn't alone.
I think I've seen this video like a hundred times. this era with Manni was fucking great, he plays perfect and his performance is full of feeling. Also the choruses sounds powerful with him.
Great performance. I think this was the best lin up they ever had! The solo of Invisible Horizonts is one of my favourite solos, especially the tapping part from 7:05!
What a fantastic trio they were, those three - and very precise playing live too. Amazing sound and clarity. Today's Rage is a bloody good line up too but this for me is the ultimate and classic - like the Kilmister/Clark/Taylor set up for Motorhead.
It may be 1 year later but ... I can just bleed when I see this ... Rage is far to be out of order ... Just take a look at the last one, The Devil Strikes again, which is freaking good, but to keep into the time you wrote this, you had Strings to a Web which was also a freaking good album ... You may not be a true fan of this band, it's always easier to say "it was better before" with a snoby voice than getting what's good in our times, of course you don't know if the herd will follow you :/
@panzersix: Band members in this concert are: Peter "Peavy" Wagner - Vocals, Bass, Manfred "Manni" Schmidt, Guitar, also from 2000-2009 Grave Digger's guitarist, and, Christos Efthimiadis, Drums, played also in all concerts of Running wild's magnificent 1998 "The Rivalry" tour and in Power Metal band Atlain.
RAGE, from 1984 (AVENGER times) until 1993 (The Missing Link) is still, with RUNNING WILD, my alltime favourite German band! I'd wish, Peavy would do the high vocals again!
100% true! The classic 3 piece is still one of my alltime faves. Love every album from the AVENGER days 'till "The missing Link". After that, I totally lost interest in the band. I would love to see a reunion of the classic line up, but Peavy doesn't do his high vocals anymore and there's a personal thing between him and Efti, which I can understand. So get Manni back in stage again, try singing higher and play the old songs the way they were played back then!
luciano colombo alves eu penso que eles nunca tiveram um reconhecimento digno ao talento deles. Esse line up principalmente! Victor é monstro mas essa guitarra soa tão perfeita que as vezes nem parece ao vivo!!! \m/
Just three of them, but excellent musicianship, great vocals and song structure firmly place Rage as the epitome of True Power Metal, before rabid Helloween copycats begun to corner the European mass of listeners.
Oh Come on guys, times have changed, Rage has changed and they make music now that has not so much to do with the early Albums, but the Still kick ass, in the Studio and Live. The thing, that they don't play old stuff anymore apart from medleys is just not true, saw them in nuremberg in march and there were a couple of old songs. I got to know Rage through their Unity album some years ago but I enjoy most of the currently 21 Released albums, have about 13 or 14 at home as CD or LP.
@imshenitsky Manni has i new combo: Capital Joke. I have seen them live a few weeks ago and I look promising. Mannis Guitarsound was a good as ever. He simply rocks ;-)
They changed quite a bit. My fave era is with Manni. Newer stuff after EoaD has good song here and there, but overall quality was never reached afterwards (in my opinion anyway). Too bad because Manni was greater here than in Grave Digger imo.
All bands has changed, also few bands has changed even too much, like Metallica, i do not get it that at all, Metallica over kill nowadays all things what they do.
